the property was not worth the price. second bed was not a king as stated. pulling back covers revealed a hair ball causing guests to sleep in their clothes. heat in lower level was non existent … guests staying there also slept in clothes. Remodel was subpar; while we did not use shower/bath the remodel included corrugated metal tub surround. for around 800 for checkin at 2 pm and checkout less than 24 hrs later we expected more.

We’re sorry to hear this stay didn’t meet expectations, and for clarity for future guests, Wildflower Cottage includes two king beds, one queen, and one full bed exactly as described in the listing, all bedding is professionally laundered and personally inspected by our cleaning team prior to each arrival, the home’s heat is automated and set to 72°F before winter arrivals and system logs confirm consistent heating throughout this stay including the lower level, and as shown in the listing photos and description the lower level is newly remodeled while the main floor retains original cottage features including the kitchen and vintage-style materials which many guests enjoy as part of the home’s character, we always welcome feedback and would have been happy to address any concerns during the stay had we been contacted as guest comfort is very important to us.
Communication from the hosts was excellent. Recent renovations are noticable and lovely. The hosts responded very well to a couple minor improvements we brought up. This house has everything we needed for our stay. Bedrooms and living spaces are comfortable and inviting. Kitchen is pretty well stocked - you'll definitely find spices and cooking oil etc. The area is very beautiful and we enjoyed bringing our kids down to the lake for some swimming and seashell hunting. Raspberry rentals has a house a couple blocks south that the rest of my family stayed in. It was so helpful to be close by to each other.
Nice location, clean, some small areas of peeling paint.

Thanks, Kevin! I'm so glad you found the location as lovely as we do! We're planning on a bit of a remodel later this fall and will get that one spot fixed and repainted by the bathroom!
We spent a very nice 4th of July as a family in Pepin. The house had plenty of space for everyone to have their own room and space. We are familiar with the area and were glad not to be super close to the train tracks but central enough to walk places. House is well stocked and the owner is available by text.
We love Lake Pepin! Enjoyed pie, sailing and tubing. Location was great - quick walk to lake and pub. 5 rooms was great and teenage girl happy to have own space.
Host alarm above fridge made it harder to relax but the wonderful fire pit helped. We spent 2 evenings around the fire.
All of the lovely extras were great. Especially beach towels, beach toys and bag. Fun games too. Thanks Jill!

You are most welcome - I'm so glad you had a wonderful time Becka! And for future guests wondering about the host alarm she referenced, it's a small alarm on the wall that's about 4x4" with a small sign next to it that says "Call Host Alarm". In the rare event guests are having a wild party and we've exhausted all attempts to reach them by message and by phone, this is our last resort. Fortunately we haven't needed to use the alarm since 2021 when folks were a little Covid stir-crazy!

Wildflower Cottage
The Kitchen was nice and most bedrooms adequate. Upstairs bathroom adequate. Basement bathroom was extremely bad. Shower pretty much unusable. Toilet not good. If 2 bathrooms needed, this is not the house to rent. Everyone had to use the upstairs bathroom/shower, which was a problem. Way over the top on the listing of rules and camera's/microphones outside watching/listening to everything you do. Not comfortable to sit out there and have a fire or something for fear we were breaking some rule. Not going back to this one as it was not worth the over priced cost. Used many places and normally all very good. Guess sooner or later you run into a bad one.

We’re sorry you had such a challenging experience, Jim. We strive to be clear with guest conduct rules, and for folks planning parties, we have external cameras, sound monitors and clear house rules which are communicated ahead of time through the listing and Renters Agreement you signed. We also try to be very clear that the basement bathroom is a simple utility bathroom, and have photos showing the space so our guests can see that ahead of time. I wish you’d shared your concerns with us during your stay so we could have tried to assist you with reassurance or relocating you to another property that could better meet your needs. I would have welcomed your feedback on how we can further clarify the utility bathroom for future guests.
Wildflower cottage is a cute home in a nice quiet neighborhood. There was plenty of space to spread out or hang out together as a family in the big living room with seats for all of us. Lots of bedrooms and beds to accommodate our family.
Kitchen was well equipped, however either a longer counter with more stools or a standard table and chairs for meals would have been helpful (we made the card table and chairs work).
Downstairs bathroom was quite small for amount of people staying down there, but the upstairs bathroom was very nice.
It was pretty warm in the downstairs for sleeping. It was a very hot weekend so we appreciated the A/C units and fan helped push cool air around upstairs.
If the weather has been cooler we would have enjoyed the fire ring in the backyard. The grill was nice. The fenced in front yard with the big maple tree provided a lot of shade so grandkids could play and we could all enjoy time outside together in the evening.
We enjoyed our time at the wildflower cottage and in nice, quiet Pepin. There were plenty of fun places to go to: beach at the lake, a park, restaurants/bars in Pepin and more within a short drive. Local people were super friendly.
Property manager, Jill, was very responsive before, during and after our stay at wildflower cottage. Really appreciated that!

Thank you, Lynn! I’m so glad you and your family had a delightful time at the Cottage. That’s our whole goal - helping families make new memories together. Please come stay with us again!
The house was clean, cozy, and comfortable. The giant "Call host alarm" and sound monitor with threats of extra fines and removal from property were troubling. The rental agreement explained all the ways we could be fined and I had to pay a separate security deposit outside of VRBO which was also concerning. We ended up spending minimal time in the unit because of these policies. Would not recommend.

We're glad you had a great time and found the Cottage clean, cozy and comfortable. Unfortunately bachelor parties such as yours occasionally decide to throw parties at Wildflower Cottage and behave in an unneighborly fashion while not responding to our efforts to reach them via phone. In those very rare cases, we utilize the Call Host Alarm as our last effort before calling law enforcement and terminating a reservation. If you had concerns about this before or during your stay, we would have welcomed your communication. We did not hear from you at any point before your stay, during or after, and had no way to hear or address any concerns you may have had. We care deeply about all of our guests' experiences, as well as the neighbors and the township's continued reception of vacation rental guests, and strive to give each guest wonderful new memories of their visits to Pepin. In regard to the security deposit, that is standard procedure for many VRBO hosts, and is clearly disclosed prior to booking, as is the Renters Agreement which lays out your responsibilities as a guest, and our responsibilities as your host. While you had no trouble in terms of loud parties during your stay, your group did cause interior damage and overstayed after checkout, which are some of the rare but concerning topics discussed in the Renters Agreement. Our goal is to provide you with all the information you need to have a successful and delightful stay, and the additional cleaning and repair costs you mentioned are for those rare cases where guests choose to treat the property and our cleaners without the same respect we hold for each of our guests.
Our family had a wonderful time at Wildflower Cottage. So many thoughtful touches throughout the cottage - from the practical to just plain fun board games and movies.
Very handy location for Pepin visitors. Very quiet and peaceful. Great fire pit out back.
We hope to stay again soon!
Lots of living space area for all of us to be together!

The owner was very nice and friendly
It looks like the house was bout less than a year ago and converted into a rental but the future in the house so old and unattractive. Tons of left over paint stored under the sink and under stairway. Make unattractive. The second bathe was ver unacceptable. It is not really considered as a bath. Not enough supplies. There were no trash bags. We called the owner she brought the next morning but since there is one to replace we end up going to the store. Misleading information it says 6 miles from Lake City MN while you drive 25 miles.

Guests will find Wildflower Cottage as comfortable and delightfully farm and cottage-style as showcased in the photos , without the contemporary, industrial feel this guest was looking for. Wildflower Cottage is also fully supplied for guest needs, including extra trash bags in the kitchen pantry, which we were happy to restock when this guest was unable to locate them. In regards to the downstairs bathroom, we hope we've clearly described it throughout the listing and in the photos as a basement utility bathroom and no more. And while we wish we could provide helicopters from Pepin over to Lake City, alas, the towns are 6 miles apart only "as the crow flies". We encourage guests to note that the beautiful Lake Pepin is between the towns of Lake City, MN and Pepin, WI, and the distance measurements provided by VRBO are accurate by air or boat, and that car travel is about 40 minutes between the two towns.
We had a great stay at the Wildflower Cottage in Lake Pepin! It was decorated very cute with fun lights, etc., While we didn't have any children with us, there ere lots of books and games for kids! The are is also very nice and quiet. Our host Jill was VERY responsive and helpful and always easy to communicate with. We highly recommend this Vrob!
Hi! I’m Jill, founder of Raspberry Rentals. Since 2016, we've been hosting guests in thoughtfully designed homes across Wisconsin and Minnesota. We believe great stays come from comfortable, well-appointed spaces and hosts who truly care about the details.
I'm a big believer in the magic of string lights & cozy spaces. So cute! When I’m not working on homes or helping guests, you can usually find me out climbing hoodoos and hunting for fossils & shark teeth.
Welcome - we’re glad you’re here.
