PAGOSA COFFEE CABIN
Mountain Views | Dark Skies | Walk to Trails | Exceptional Coffee
Welcome to Pagosa Coffee Cabin, a peaceful mountain retreat nestled at 7,800 feet in the desirable Hatcher Lake area of Pagosa Springs. Surrounded by towering pines, mountain views, abundant wildlife, and some of the area's best outdoor recreation, this is the perfect place to relax, recharge, and experience the beauty of Southwest Colorado.
One of the cabin's greatest features is its location. The entrance to the San Juan National Forest is less than a mile away, making it easy to start your day with a scenic hike through millions of acres of protected wilderness. The popular Turkey Springs trail system is also just a short walk from the cabin via the nearby Thrush Court access point, offering miles of hiking, mountain biking, trail running, and outdoor adventure right from your doorstep.
After a day exploring the mountains, return to the cabin and unwind while taking in views of Pagosa Peak from the back deck. Deer are frequent visitors to the property, often wandering through the quiet grassy yard. The front deck offers peekaboo views of nearby Hatcher Lake and provides the perfect place to enjoy a morning coffee or an evening sunset.
As night falls, the experience becomes even more special. Pagosa Springs is known for its exceptionally dark skies, and stargazing from the cabin is nothing short of remarkable. On clear evenings, guests can enjoy brilliant views of the Milky Way, countless stars, and seasonal meteor showers from the comfort of the deck. It is one of our favorite ways to end the day.
Inside, the cabin features three bedrooms and two bathrooms, making it ideal for families, couples, or small groups. Large south-facing windows fill the home with natural light throughout the day, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Comfortable furnishings and a beautiful Hearthstone fireplace provide the perfect setting to relax after a day on the trails, slopes, lakes, or hot springs.
Coffee lovers will feel especially at home. Pagosa Coffee Cabin is equipped with a premium Bonavita coffee maker, a semi-automatic espresso machine, and multiple brewing options, allowing guests to enjoy café-quality coffee while surrounded by mountain views and fresh alpine air.
The fully stocked kitchen has everything needed to prepare meals during your stay, whether you're making a quick breakfast before a hike or gathering for dinner after a day of adventure.

We were in Pagosa for a family reunion so spent most the time at places rented or owned by brothers. We did make heavy use of the kitchen and found it to be very well equipped. The downstairs bedroom was very comfortable . The upstairs bathroom/shower had privacy problems😒 and the door to the bedroom with the trundle bed would not open (or close) if the bed was expanded.

Everything about the process went great. Lori did a wonderful job as our contact notifying us about getting into the house, answering any questions on useage of the amenities, and checking out. We definitely will use VIP properties again.

Nice layout but the second upstairs bathroom is a giant bathtub with shower curtains. I would consider redoing this layout and removing the giant bathtub and just installing a nice modern shower. The area is beatiful not far from a lake. We got to watch people doing ice fishing. Overall great experience. .
Nice property, great location, could use a few improvements
Lovely location within walking distance to Hatcher Lake and close to many hiking trails. Property is nice and we were pleased overall. There is too much carpet throughout, including in bathrooms, and tub on main level has rust spots on base so we didn't feel comfortable using it. Definitely needs to be replaced. Kitchen was well stocked, including oil sprays, some spices, cooking utensils, etc.

The trip was much needed to get away for a bit! It was wonderful! VIP does it right! I love the way they manage their properties! This was my second experience with them and I had no worries it would be anything less than what I expected!

The location is close enough to drive into town and enjoy all Pagosa Springs has to offer while also being near to plenty of hiking trails and places to explore outdoors. The home was quite accommodating and clean. The host was quick to respond to our questions and concerns (i.e. no trash bags, broken fan). No AC so the house does tend to get a little warm during the summer days. Fans are a must which were provided. Overall a great place!

Small two bedroom. House was clean and close to everything. Master bathroom is very small. Big Bull Snake on the front stoop which startled me and the dog. Concierge was very responsive. Probably would not stay there again. Too expensive for an old home.

Reviewer Comments:
We enjoyed our stay at Highlands Chalet. It is a few miles from town, but we liked not being right next to the neighbors. We saw wildlife every day in the yard. The property has a large bedroom with a small attached bathroom downstairs. Two bedrooms and bathroom upstairs. Smaller bedroom with twin bed has a deck. The upstairs large jetted garden tub with shower does not have a wall between the bedroom and tub. Something to keep in mind if privacy would be an issue. Toilet and sink area do have walls and doors. Large downstairs living area with one couch, chair, coffee table, TV and wood burning stove (we did not use). There are large bean bags downstairs and upstairs for extra seating. Kitchen with attached dining room and deck off of the dining room with outdoor seating and grill. We didn't cook while we were there but were able to find all the dishes we needed (cups, plates, silverware, etc). Stackable washer and dryer tucked away in a closet in the kitchen. We had an issue with the heater. We set it on 67 degrees but would come back in the late afternoon / evening and it would be extremely hot. Could have been user error. Instructions for operating the heater would be helpful. This property will give you the cabin feel, and we would book this property again.
