Beautiful stay in a more peaceful and quiet setting compared to the tourist activity in the Bar Harbor area. The host had maps and books about the park and hiking that were super helpful.

Very comfortable spot for 2 people. The owner has thought of everything you might need and more. The bikes are useful only if you have a vehicle to transport them to the carriage roads because it is unsafe to ride on other roads on the island. We rented bikes in Bar Harbor where you can safely ride to the carriage roads which worked out really well. A definite highlight of the trip. This property is much quieter than being in Bar Harbor but you also need to drive everywhere. This was a good trade off for us.

I am so glad you enjoyed the cottage! As for the driveway, we cannot make a turnaround because of the septic tank that is under the lawn. We can only use the driveway the way that it currently is.

My wife and I had a great time - the hostess is incredibly friendly and insightful about the area, very easy to talk with. It’s not a far drive from Southwest Harbor, and overall you can get anywhere on the island from there in about 30 mins - a very nice base of operations. The kitchen is very well-stocked, they have a great movie selection upstairs for winding down the night, and a very cute patio/garden area out front. I hope we can stay again sometime.

The property was exactly as pictured. The communication with Leslie was excellent and the check in process was easy. We loved the location out of busy Bar Harbor and enjoyed the lovely outdoor garden area. The fully stocked kitchen was excellent making it easy to cook the wonderful lobsters we bought at Parson’s lobster house.

The cottage was in excellent shape and very well stocked. The location was great for our plans at Acadia National Park and was within 20-30 minutes to Bar Harbor. There were several good restaurants close by with great food and Bass harbor is very close to the cottage. We really enjoyed being away from the busyness of Bar Harbor but having it close enough that you can drive over in 30 minutes with no problem. The instructions to get to the cabin were perfect and just about any question you have will be answered by them so read them carefully. If the question isn’t answered by the instructions there is probably a sticky note well positioned to answer it.

A great place to be

The cottage is very comfortabel and the location is wonderful. A good bed for a good night sleep. Near the water, near nice restaurants and near enough to Arcadia national park and Bar Harbor. A great place to stay.

The cottage was clean, complete, and quiet. We had 3 days of park walking, hiking, and cycling and what a treat to come back to a cozy, quiet and very functional home. We walked out the door to adventures in town and on the Bass Garbor side while easily driving to the other park areas. We would happily seat again!

We arrived to find the air stuffy inside with a musty odor. Both of us noticed it. After opening the windows we thought to give it a chance and used the kitchen space to prepare a meal. The counter space was limited and some of the appliances had post it notes saying “don’t use “There was a post it on the double door/entry saying not to use half of it. We were unable to lock the door from the inside. When lying down to try out the bed the pillows let out some air that was unpleasant, like some previous guest odor was left on it.My wife was unhappy with the black moldy stain on the wall ceiling corner. We realized this wasn’t going to be a comfortable place for us to spend the next 5 nights and called the host who invited us to leave. She helped with a hotel suggestion that was nearby. By now it was already after 8pm and we scrambled to collect our things and get to the hotel before the office closed. My assumption was that the host would refund us the costs as she invited us to leave. Unfortunately Vrbo said that had to be articulated explicitly and we were inexperienced and extremely fatigued from the travel and low cell signal. The next day we contacted Vrbo and the host seemed outraged by this. We received multiple screeds on the text messages accusing us of making up issues. Ultimately we settled for a refund of 400 that was grudgingly returned.Host states no other complaints ever but maybe they just tolerated?

This cottage in Bass Harbor is perfect! Minutes to Acadia park with bikes to ride the carriage trails (make sure your vehicle/rental can fit them, it's a little dangerous to ride on the road). It's quiet and private with a great patio and garden. The kitchen has everything you need, Leslie is a helpful and responsive host!

Clean, beautiful cottage!

We loved our stay on the Quiet Side of mount desert island. Beautiful garden makes up for lack of direct lake views but access to hikes, carriage roads and coast is easy to get to.

I am so glad you enjoyed it! Actually, though, your view of the ocean is obscured by the porch of our other house on the property, but if you walk just past that, the harbor is right there, and we have deeded access to the water so that you can put kayaks in right next to our neighbors house. If you would ever like to come back, you are welcome to use our kayaks and put them in right next-door.! Thanks for choosing us!

The property is quiet and beautifully kept. I loved sitting on the patio and enjoying the sounds of birds and watching the bees pollinate the flowers nearby. It was so peaceful. The house had all things you’d need and was cozy and comfortable. The location was fantastic for beautiful nearby trails and it was the only about 25 minutes to Bar Harbor. We had a wonderful week and loved our visit!
