Disappointment - not a vacation-ready property
Starting with the email received a week prior to the stay that let us know there were people on-site that would be sharing the dwelling with us (renters of an attached apartment). Knowing that beforehand, we wouldn't have selected this property. The email provided the code to retrieve the key, but a little more info on the other buttons involved and proper sequence would have been helpful. Once inside, I was greeted by a toilet that I had to fix. The handle and the flapper were not connected. Not hard to correct, but remained an issue a couple other times within the week. Also in the bathrooms was pink and black mold in both shower areas. My wife cleaned the upstairs shower prior to our using it. Also found was soap residue caked in the drain of the one, and hanging from the wire shower caddy upstairs. We also purchased our own shower curtain at the dollar store rather than use the mildew bottomed one left for us. Toilet bowls were not freshly cleaned, either. In the kitchen, a food chopping device was left in the sink. Looked like it had been there a while. I washed that. There is no outdoor seating available. A large front porch left to waste with no place to sit on it. Only three windows have screens - two upstairs sleeping areas and the upstairs bathrooms - so there was no way to allow fresh air in on the first floor. The only window coverings are in the living room and the master bedroom, leaving the rest of the house to bright sunlight by 5:30am. Laundry facilities were in a room accessed by both the apartment renters and us. The renters were good about leaving laundry in both machines all week long. We did manage to do what we needed to. Apartment renters also have a young husky dog. At times when they both left, the husky would whine for an hour or so. Occurred a couple of times, and not what we should be experiencing for the price paid. The beds were made without flat sheets. We located them and finished the set-up. Parties with children should be aware of a couple of light switches with openings to wires, and the stairwell fully open under the handrail. It looked like someone had left in a hurry and we feel we left it cleaner than we found it. We wonder where the $350 cleaning fee is going – certainly not to prepare the property. Felt like we were funding their refurbishment project rather than enjoying its results. Not a property that should be offered for vacationing at this time - just not inviting or welcoming,

Beautiful, Great Location, But...
This cabin is absolutely beautiful, well appointed and in a good location. However, it should not be listed as a 4 bedroom. It's really a 2 bedroom with 2 loft areas---with absolutely no privacy. My sister and her daughter were in the loft with 2 queen beds and my son was in a loft that overlooked the stairs, which was very inconvenient for him since we were up and down those stairs day and night. He couldn't sleep in. The other big negative were the permanent residents living on the other side of the house. We weren't able to really relax and enjoy knowing there were strangers on the other side---this was not in the description of the rental. My sister and I both agreed, if we had known, we would not have rented the house. Also, there is no outdoor area for eating or sitting on that gorgeous porch. The house still needs work, especially the stairs. All 3 kids took headers at the bottom of the stairs as the risers are not finished, my son sprained his foot. The banister is really a 2X4 and I would worry about little kids going up and down by themselves. There is a nice little 4 season room off the kitchen but we couldn't sit in it as there is no seating and it also needs work. The pluses of this house were that the owner got right back to me every time I contacted her, it was about 2-3 miles from a nice little beach on the lake, it was in close proximity to Laconia, the Great Northern Rail Trail, only 1 hour and 1.2 to Mt. Washington. However, it would have helped if the owner had some information, brochures, in the house, regarding places to eat, places to kayak/bike/hike, best boat rentals, etc. Also, there were 2 grills out front and when we asked which one we should use, the owner told us that one was broken but she didn't know which one. I think she should know about those things. But, the master bedroom and bath were awesome, the bed was very comfortable in the master, the soaking tub was beautiful, the space in the cabin was perfect for 6 or more people, the couch in the living room was phenomenal. This would be a great vacation for a group of friends who don't care about privacy, such as a group of old college friends, or guys who are going skiiing. All in all, we wouldn't stay here again, not worth the money, but we wouldn't discourage a group of people, as above, from staying. I feel bad saying that since the owner seems very nice but it's the truth.

Incredible property with beautiful views, no complaints
My friends and I loved staying in this home. Great size, lovely kitchen, incredible views. The location was close to popular attractions in North Conway and it was easy to get to the house. The property owner was great to work with and very accommodating. Thanks for a great stay!

Great family getaway
We really enjoyed the house! Beds were comfortable. The only downfall was the bedrooms upstairs need a bit more privacy. Would definitely visit again.

Why they chose this property

We love our cabin, it is quiet and peaceful and close enough that we can get away at a moment's notice. But we do not use it as often as we would like. My daughter dances and our weekends are typically filled with performances.
