We had an AMAZING time! The location was perfect - we were walking distance away from some awesome hiking trails as well as a super cute café. The house was very cozy -beds were comfortable and we had pretty much everything we needed to enjoy our stay.

Great location in Colorado Springs with quick access to the zoo and plenty of restaurants, etc. The property was better in person than the pictures suggested.

We had a great time staying in this beautiful bungalow. The charming decor and set up was most comfortable and we enjoyed a big family dinner around the table in the dining room with the big beautiful windows and view. Zoe very prompt in responding to our questions about check in. Will stay there again on future visits!

Hi Maggie, so glad to hear your family had a great visit. We’d love to have you back anytime!
The home was beautiful and very comfortable for my family. My three kids ages four through ten were right at home. We had easy access to trails for running and hiking. We were close enough to all that we wanted to do without being too close. We are planning on staying again.

We visited during a snow storm, and the house was a warm retreat. It is comfortably furnished and had all we needed to cook family meals. The decor is new and sweet. Zoe was very responsive for any questions I had. The location is in a charming neighborhood close to the city and nature.

Hi Stacey, I am so glad you enjoyed your stay with us! We’d love to have you back again!
This property is lovely with beautiful views out the panaramic dining room windows! It was clean and tidy, however there are many (many) steps up to the house and could be a drawback for anyone who might have bad knees or back. Ultimately, we enjoyed our stay very much!

Hi Rebecca, we are glad to hear you enjoyed your stay, and appreciate your feedback. We do try to make the front steps apparent in our photos of the property in our listing. Thanks again for choosing to stay at our cabin!
This is an amazing rental. Clean and perfectly located near beautiful hiking trails and Seven Falls. It’s 5 min from the zoo and close to other attractions like zip lining, a cute cafe and Cave of the Winds. Kids wanted to stay another week (we did too). We had a deer visit and enjoyed drinking coffee outside on the patio. Check in was easy, grocery store is close by and if your a runner or hiker this location is heaven. Hope we can return soon!
We loved this house and location. You can walk out the door and hike several areas. Neighborhood is quiet and friendly. Drive 15 minutes to all that Colorado Springs has to offer in town. Zoe is responsive when we had questions and very polite. Left us popcorn and MnMs.

Hi Lisa, so glad to hear you enjoyed your stay! We’d love to have you back any time!
Stayed here with my 88 year old mom while visiting family in the area. The house was great and with a few minor additions would have been 5 stars.
Kitchen needs:
Cheese grater
More than 1 dish towel
Steak knives / cutting chopping knives (there were 2 sharp knives but need a few more )
Wine glasses
Plates that are microwave ok
Bath:
Better bath towels
Soap in the shower
Handle in the shower for older guests.
Other than that, the house was great and we would definitely stay there again when we come back to the area.

My friend and I had a great time staying at this cute cottage nestled in the woods. The check-in process was easy and contact-less. The accommodations were comfortable and clean, and when we had a small problem with our stay, the owner, Zoe, was quick to respond. As two visitors from an urban area, we loved the deer that visited in the front yard. It was also a quick drive or walk to hiking and biking trails nearby. We look forward to visiting again soon when we can take advantage of the beautiful outdoor seating area!

We liked much about this property, but the back bedroom bed was uncomfortable, the bathroom faucets were loose, no laundry detergent and the yard was quite unkempt.

We have stayed in several different locations in COS. This is our favorite. It was so close to hiking, dining and downtown, easy access off freeway but still felt like a private getaway. Everything was updated and clean. didn't spend much time indoors but beds were very comfortable and liked the extra trundle bed which was used one night.
We had a momma deer with three fawns that visited the front yard and stayed for most of the morning. would highly recommend this location and this home.

Hi Margaret, I’m so happy to hear you enjoyed your stay. You were a great guest and are welcome back any time!
Overall, we enjoyed this property. We came during a record heatwave and there was no A/C in the house so that wasn't fun. It sounds like one was going to be installed a few days after we left. We loved the outdoor area. The kids played outside a lot when we were there. The only concern with location was that the property is on a major road so it was disconcerting at times with loading up the kids. Beds were comfortable and home was beautiful.

Hi Drew, so glad to hear you enjoyed your stay overall and apologize for the heat. We have now added an ac unit inside the house, which should help bring down the temperature from now on. We would love to have you visit again!
The cottage and yard were lovely. Owner was responsive and prompt. Check- in was super easy. If you are very warm natured the lack of air conditioning may be an issue. The owner did bring over fans when I inquired about cooling. Also the fit of doors in the house needs some attention in that one could not close them without walking up other guests. Location of the house was excellent for many activities including Garden of the Gods, The Broadmore Seven Falls, and Pikes Peak.

The house was terrific for our needs. Great location, beautiful views and we could hear the chimes from the Shrine of the Sun! I would like to mention the washer/dryer. The washer left my clothes damper than normal and the dryer took 5 full cycles to dry them, even cleaning the screen between each one. It wasn’t a big deal for us, I just like to wash all our clothes at the end of a trip before we head home so it was just a minor inconvenience. Definitely not a deal breaker and I would stay again!

Hi Melanie, so glad to hear you enjoyed your trip! Thank you for letting us know about the washer and dryer. This is the first time we have heard of this issue and will have it looked at asap. We would love to have you back anytime!
The house is very nice and is very well located. North Cheyenne Canon Park is a short walk away and I highly recommend spending time there. It's also close to the zoo and the Broadmoor and let's face it, in Colorado Springs nothing is far away.
The only reason this is a four-star rating instead of five-star is that we picked the hottest week of the year to stay, and the house got quite warm during the day. There is no central AC, which is typical in Colorado Springs because during the vast majority of the year there is no need for it. Even in the summer it cools off nicely at night and each room has a good floor fan which helped us get a good night's sleep. There's also a great patio in front of the house where we could sit in the evenings when it cooled off.
Zoe was very responsive to our needs and answered my questions within minutes after I sent them. We have stayed in many condos and rental homes over the years and she is one of the best hosts we have worked with.

House was misrepresented
We were told there was a portable AC unit that cooled the house. There was not. There was an evaporative cooler that did not cool the house . We sat in 81 degree temperatures for hours waiting for it to cool down. Further, the evaporative cooler was so loud that you could barely hear one another speak or hear the TV.
We immediately notified the owner the next morning that we were leaving and could not stay another night. She refused to refund both nights . This house should NEVER be rented during hot months, as it does not cool.
Further, there were no privacy window coverings in the front two bedrooms and the back door neighbors could see into my bedroom.
Finally, the yard was full of weeds and not like it was shown on VRBO.

Hi Lesa, we do appreciate your feedback and are very sorry you did not enjoy your stay with us.
Lesa checked into the house mid afternoon and made no mention of concerns with our cooling system until the next morning when she requested a refund, and did not give us a chance to help solve any problems with her.
There are privacy curtains in all bedrooms, and we have gone ahead and added blackout curtains to the two back bedrooms based on your feedback.
We have also gone ahead and added central air conditioning to the house for the comfort of our future guests.
1 block from huge park with wildlife-filled trails and great views. Deer paraded in front of the house every morning. Great house. Perfect for us. Great breakfast/coffee place 1 block away
Great area and home to stay in close to everything you want to do in or near the springs!!
It was a great experience!! The home was well taken care of and so well out together even with the 6 of us everyone had a place. Big thanks to the host!! We will be back

About the host

We are the Nichols family. We are originally from California, and recently bought this mountain cottage as a place to spend more time with our new granddaughter who lives just a few minutes away. We love coming here any time of year to escape into the woods and spend time together as a family. When here, you can find us having family meals on the patio, playing card games around the dining table, or walking into Cheyenne Canon for an afternoon hike.
