The Neighborhood:
Adventure awaits on Pleasure Island. Exploring the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher, home to incredible coastal wildlife, or take the scenic car ferry across the Cape Fear River for a relaxing visit to the charming town of Southport where quaint streets are filled with unique antique shops and galleries. History lovers can walk the scenic, live‑oak‑lined trails of the Fort Fisher State Historic Site, where Civil War bunkers still stand. Nature enthusiasts will love the island’s two state‑managed coastal preserves: Carolina Beach State Park, home to rare Venus flytraps found naturally only in this region, and the Fort Fisher State Recreation Area, known for pristine beaches, marshes, and wildlife viewing. Both offer beautiful opportunities for hiking, paddling, fishing, and spotting pelicans or even nesting loggerhead sea turtles.
After a day outdoors, unwind on your private balcony with a sunset cocktail, or head into town to explore the best of Carolina Beach. The Carolina Beach Boardwalk, ranked one of the Top 10 Boardwalks in the U.S. by Food & Wine, features classic seaside fun—local restaurants, an arcade, ice cream shops, bars, and the famous Britt’s Donuts. In summer, enjoy weekly fireworks and live entertainment, carnival rides, family nights, and Flamingo BINGO. Off‑season brings signature island events like the Cape Fear Kite Festival, Christmas by the Sea, and the Island of Lights Festival. Pleasure Island offers something unforgettable for every traveler—adventure, relaxation, and the perfect coastal escape.
Getting Around:
Getting around Pleasure Island is a breeze! While parking can be limited in peak season, especially in popular spots, paid private or public parking is available. We recommend exploring Carolina Beach and Kure Beach on foot or by bike – they're super walkable and bike-friendly. You'll find safe pedestrian and bike routes, including the Island Greenway. Renting a golf cart or bike is easy, too, with several local rental companies. Golf carts are one of the easiest ways to cruise around the island. Rentals are simple to arrange, and once you're behind the wheel, you can zip along any road posted 35 mph or under.

It’s great to know that the amenities met your needs and that you loved the ocean view. The location really does make it special, with the beach right at your doorstep and the boardwalk so close by. We hope to welcome you back for another amazing stay soon!
Great location! The balcony and rooftop deck are oceanfront. It was great to hear the waves from the balcony. Our teens appreciated the fast wifi connection too. We also liked having a pool on the property. It was a short walk to the boardwalk and local restaurants. We loved it and hope to return in the future!

Thank you for your fantastic review! We’re thrilled that you enjoyed the oceanfront balcony and rooftop deck, as well as the convenience of being close to the boardwalk and local restaurants. It's great to hear that the fast Wi-Fi and pool were hits with your teens too! We loved having you as our guests and look forward to welcoming you back for another stay in the future!
Great place and location. The only downside is the parking situation. You are only allowed one vehicle which is fine, but parking offsite is confusing. Recommendation is park on street and buy a 1-week pass the day you get there for $100. Do not park in the private lot for $25/day and know that they are not associated with street parking. If you have that down your stay will be great.

Liked: Cleanliness, location
Disliked: Check-in, communication
The property was overpriced and the rental company was very rude. Only 1 parking pass.
VRBO charged a premium for this location When you go on the actual rentals companies address it was cheaper to rent. I ended up paying double the fees. We had a three bedroom condo but the rental company only gave us one parking pass.

Hi Lindsey! We're so sorry to hear the parking wasn't suitable for you. Unfortunately, as the parling lot is controlled by an HOA, we can only give parking passes for what is allotted to us, which is just the one space. Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any concerns and thank you for your review.
First off, this condo is VERY close to the Boardwalk if you like that - no need to drive, it is actually closer to walk than any parking spot. This does mean that you can hear the people at the Boardwalk much of the night, and will have to deal with huge crowds on the beach from the public access. While I'm not so much of a "people-person," I doubt anyone had a better view of the Thursday night fireworks!Speaking of views, both balconies were awesome and we spent much time on each...but the top balcony is what sold this condo for me and the main reason I would want to stay here again. Whether it was watching the sea, the people, or the stormclouds, I have never had a better view at Carolina Beach! The kitchen was surprisingly well-stocked including a Crock-Pot, Contact Grill (like a George Foreman), etc. with a starter set of kitchen (and bathroom) supplies. We brought our own muffin-pan as most places do not supply those (and they are SO versatile!), but didn't need to bring anything else to cook and serve amazing meals from breakfast to dessert!Parking was only available for one car, so we needed to use the Carolina Beach Pay to Park system. Once we got this handled online (which took almost a week to get a week's parking), we could park our second car directly beside the condo most of the time. I did have to park a mile away on Thursday night since EVERYONE was there for the fireworks (but no one saw them better than we did)!Overall, this condo was AWESOME!

Thank you so much for your detailed and thoughtful review! We're thrilled to hear you enjoyed your time spent in Carolina Beach, and we’re glad the upper balcony and ocean views made such a lasting impression. It’s great to know the kitchen setup helped you feel right at home.
Your notes about the lively beach scene and public access are much appreciated. While it does get busy during peak times, we know the views and atmosphere can make it worthwhile, and we're happy it added to the experience for you.
We’d love to have you back anytime - especially for another fireworks night with that amazing view!
