About this property

Beautifully Restored Historic Home, Easy Walk to Plaza & Railyard!

This 100 year old, single-story, historic adobe home was recently completely remodeled. It maintains its Santa Fe charm while offering you all the modern amenities, from king size beds to high end appliances and all the accessories you will need to feel at home. The original hand-hewn viga ceilings are exquisite, the thick adobe walls masterfully done, the brick floors add warmth to the entire house. The courtyard is the ultimate sanctuary, the beautifully landscaped yard wraps around the house, the patio with its wrought iron furniture makes this the perfect place for breakfast, lunch, dinner or just wine with friends as you enjoy the always perfect climate of Santa Fe. With double adobe walls, Casa de la Fuente stays warm in winter and cool in summer but when temps are unseasonably warm the home also boasts newly installed Ductless Air Conditioning in both master bedrooms that cools the entire home.

The historic neighborhood is quiet and there is a feeling of warmth and friendliness. Take a stroll to one of the fine restaurants close by and enjoy the history all around you. From the narrow european feeling streets to the high steps and raised porches from the days of the horse and carriage.

Casa del la Fuente is named for the beautiful fountain which adorns the beautifully maintained flowering garden with its meandering flagstone paths. There are colorful flowers blooming all spring, summer and into the fall. There are several places to sit and relax with a beverage and listen to the birds while in the privacy of adobe walls.

As you relax and enjoy one of the three portals you can hear the church bells ringing from the Santaurio de Guadalupe just a block away. It is one of the many historic buildings you can tour while visiting this beautiful old city. Santa Fe boasts having the oldest government building, the oldest house and the oldest church in the US. History abounds down every street. Exciting art galleries and shopping for one of a kind jewelry and art pieces. Travel back in time to 'The City Different' with it's European ambience.

There are works of art in every room that reflect the artisans of New Mexico. The decor reflects the warmth and beauty of Santa Fe. In the cooler months you are enticed into just relaxing and enjoying a fire in the pueblo style fireplace. The home has all of the amenities you could want and is within EASY walking distance to everything.

You can't beat this location, a 5 to 10 minute walk and you're at the Santa Fe Plaza; 5 minutes past the Plaza to Canyon Rd with all its galleries; 5 minutes the opposite direction and you're at San Busco Mall; 5 minutes past that and you're at the Railyard area where the farmers' market, galleries, restaurants, train depot and so much more await you.

We invite you to stay at our home and fall in love with all that Santa Fe has to offer. Casa de la Fuente, with it's adobe ambiance and beautiful decor will add old world charm to your visit.

Maybe I should move into this home?
Conveniently located. We walked most days to museums, restaurants, shopping. No issues with the home - easy to reach owner. Quiet neighborhood. Owner has stocked the home with everything you could need - plus lovely New Mexico artwork to enjoy as well.

About the host

Mary and Jack are retired and reside a lot of the time in California. Jack was a construction superintendent most of his career. Mary, a graduate from University of CA at Long Beach with a BA in Drawing and Painting, worked as a business owner and a graphic designer. Mary has been an animal lover all of her life and with her daughter shows Pembroke Welsh Corgis all over the US. RVing is also a passion for Jack and Mary. But most of all they enjoy visiting Santa Fe, NM for the wonderful festivals and to enjoy all of the wonderful restaurants and sights and sounds of "The City Different."

Why they chose this property

Purchased in 2011 Casa de la Fuente had everything we were looking for in a vacation home. It is extremely close to the Plaza, and it is in a very old historic district of Santa Fe. The interior is warm and friendly with the double adobe walls and very comfortable layout. The brick floors and huge hand hewn vigas and board ceilings are reminiscent of building practices from centuries ago. The home is perfect for two couples with each having its own entrance and with enough separation to provide privacy. The flowering gardens are lush and inviting. The fountain adds ambiance to that afternoon al fresco dining experience. And the home is very pet friendly which was very important to us as we often travel with one of our small dogs.

What makes this property unique

Casa de la Fuente is the perfect home for two couples. The kitchen is a cook's dream. It is very well designed to save steps while preparing a meal. The front portal is perfect with it's small table and two chairs for your morning coffee. And the side portal has a BBQ and several seating areas to enjoy dining al fresco while enjoying the water sounds from the fountain near by. The living room is adequate to entertain and very comfortable yet cozy and within steps to the table and kitchen. And don't forget the Cowgirl BBQ for evenings entertainment just a couple of minutes walk. So many restaurants are so very close by.
