Area on the Lake was great. We really enjoyed the outdoor space and the deck. We were allowed to bring our dog which was a bonus. The house was fine but a little dust that i just cleaned up with supplies in the house. The large sun room window was excellent for watching the action on the lake.
So grateful to Bill for such a wonderful stay! The cottage was so lovely and had everything you could need for a weekend on the lake. Will definitely be returning in the future 😊
This place was above my expectations. So relaxing and fun. Couldn’t ask for a better host too … quick to respond and very accommodating! Will be here every year for my summer getaways! Thank you Bill!
From beginning to end, could not have dreamed of a better island getaway, in the Berkshire’s none-the -less.
Bill was a wonderful host. Very friendly, responsive and helpful. Super welcoming.
The home was simple, quaint, and super cozy. Perfect for a nice long relaxing weekend for both the dogs and people. The views from the sun room were lovely. The deck/patio area had a beautiful view of the water. The fire pit was a nice perk in the evening. Surrounded by water, the place felt so private.
Surrounding neighbors were friendly. House was located nearby to hiking trails as well. The town restaurant was a short drive away.
The property has all you need for a great time on the water.
We look forward to rebooking again.
Thank you so much for sharing your Otis home with us. From the moment we walked through the door, we could feel the warmth and energy of great memories shared in this home. Growing up visiting Otis as a kid, it was incredibly special to celebrate my Grandmother's 85th birthday and send off my brother, who is starting his PhD program at Harvard University in Boston.
My grandmother and the rest of our family will forever cherish this trip, full of laughter, swimming, and using our boat, which we dock in Otis. I can't remember the last time our family had this much fun together outside of the holidays.
This home is the perfect location to create once-in-a-lifetime opportunities with your family. The memories made here will be forever held in our hearts. Thank you, Bill, for hosting!

Great views, but VERY “rustic.”
The house’s position on the water, being further out than all other surrounding homes, makes for beautiful views of the lake and all it activities. The sunrises are beautiful. Unfortunately when you don’t have proper running water and a toilet that flushes without having to put water in the tank almost every time, the experience is less than ideal. The host warned us of the toilet about 15 min before we arrived and never had the kitchen sink fixed in the 5 days we stayed. That was rather disappointing. The open electrical panel in the bathroom did not look safe as well. The linens in the bunk room could be replaced, and a good deep cleaning of the whole house is warranted. Overall the outdoor aspect of this house is nice, the inside of the house needs a lot of TLC before it is rented out again.

The View that’s about it!
Yes this property is listed as “campy” that phrase doesn’t even come close. The spiders, the dirty bathroom, the dirty kitchen, the filled medicine cabinet, the filled dressers with owners clothing, the holes in the floor, the holes in the walls, the water running down the fireplace during rain that literally was like a water fountain in the middle of the living room, the dirty looking bedding with stains on them, the food left in the fridge just GROSS!!! The view is unbelievable and was the ONLY reason we sucked it up for 4days. Oh and did I say the SPIDERS!!!!! Inside and outside was unbelievable! I have videos and pictures if anyone would like to see them.

About the host
Hosted by Bill Martin
Your hosts, Paula and Bill.... we're from the Hartford area and Paula's family has been in Otis since the 1950's. We enjoy bicycling around the neighborhood, balancing on the paddle boards and kayaking around the reservoir. We also enjoy meeting new folks and making new friends.
Why they chose this property
It's in The Berkshires! The mountain air is FRESHER here! Plenty of great fishing from the decks and docks. Paddle boards and kayaks for your enjoyment! Otis Ridge ski area one mile away. On the largest fresh water reservoir in Mass. Lots of historic properties to explore nearby. Berkshire Botanical Garden is in Stockbridge, 12 miles away. Norman Rockwell Museum is in Stockbridge. Berkshire Scenic Railway in Lenox is 13 miles away. Cove Bowling and Entertainment in Great Barrington is 13 miles away. Several golf courses nearby.
What makes this property unique
Pretty awesome property...! How often do you come across a private island that is readily accessible? The island was built in the mid 1930's and the best way to describe the property is "Campy"...! You are surrounded 360* by water! Super views of the lake and often a steady parade of boaters and water skiers on the weekends. Katies Country store 5 min away and Knox Trail Inn is the local watering hole and restaurant. Bring your fishing gear, you will catch fish!
Several vineyards for wine lovers nearby. Botanical gardens 9 miles away. Tanglewood Live Music is 22 miles away. (World class performances) such as Steve Miller Band, Elvis Costello & The Imposters, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, James Taylor, Boston Symphony, Boston Pops Orchestra, Patti LaBelle and other will be in Tanglewood this summer, 2023!
