About this property

Bear's Den on Firetower ranch

Beautiful views and wildlife are right out your front porch. Catch the moose and their young as they make their way to the pond, deer are seen almost every morning just outside of cabins door, or watch the black bears their cubs just across the ridge in what we have named “BEAR MEADOW’ (from a safe distance of course!).
The kids can enjoy the beauty of the outdoors in a custom built “little Fire Tower” playground complete with a zip-line ( please play responsibly).
Just short hike from your front door are 4 lakes for fishing or kayaking: Grassy Lake, Reservoir lake, Twin Lakes, and Axolotl lake- well known for the artic grayling fish and the rare salamander that Axolotl Lake is named for, can you find one?  So close to multiple atv trails for adventure or just relax next to the firepit while taking in the breathtaking views from the top of the mountain. “JUST UNDER HEAVEN’ is our slogan, come see why. At night it feels like you can touch the stars.
Feeling adventurous?? Take a short hike to the top of the mountain behind Bear’s Den to our picnic table for lunch, from this vantage point you can see 6 different mountain ranges!
Rustic comfort is the theme of this cabin, with rough saw cut reclaimed Douglas fir wood designed by Yellowstone Traditions and modeled after the Old Faithful Inn.
Bear’s Den is fully solar powered! The ultimate off-grid comfort!
Bear’s Den is a two story cabin equipped with a private deck and bbq grill, kitchenette with all utensils, Fridge and microwave, dining area, coffee pot and firepit for smore's! This beautiful private cabin has 1 King bed and a day bed with trundle, and sleeps up to 4 people on the top floor. Full bathroom is complete with a unique metal shower and a large walk-in closet.  Bottom floor of the Cabin has a King bed and full bathroom and can sleep up to 2people. All bedding and bath towels are provided.
Bear’s Den is one of 3 unique accommodations located on Fire Tower Ranch property which spans over 379 deeded acres bordering BLM land and connects with Beaverhead-Deerlodge national forest. This spectacular setting offers each and every guest access to the thousands of acres of private and public land to recreate on.
Located only 10 miles from the Fly-Fishing capitol Ennis Montana and the Madison River, and only 5 miles to the gold mining towns of Virginia City and Nevada City, down the old Virginia city road that runs through the property.

INCREDIBLE VIEWS OF MONTANA
We were warned prior to arriving that you need either an all wheel drive or a 4 wheel drive. Fortunately we were able to achieve access to this incredible stay via all wheel drive. If it is raining you probably will need a 4 wheel drive. The road to FireTower is a bit challenging and a little scary the first time, but it is very well maintained by Chris, the property manager. We were able to text him because the cell tower just happened to be on the next mountain and we had 4 bars the entire stay. We were prepared and were expecting no cell or internet, which would have been fine. But if you have to work or worried about anything at home you will be able to use the internet and phone at FireTower Ranch. We were welcomed by 2 deer on the path to FowerTower and once we drove into the property we were WOWED!! It is an amazing property and we felt very lucky that we chose Firetower. We stayed in Bear's Den which was absolutely perfect for the 2 of us. There was a bedroom and a living/kitchenette combo. There is not a full fridge or a stove. We used the grill and the grill top to cook steaks and burgers while we were there. Since this is a new rental they were still adding necessities as needed. Everything runs off of solar so we were very aware and kept electricity to a minimum. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was AMAZING with flow and heat. The property had a brand new swimming hole that they had just finished and a great play area for kids with a zip line. There is also a firepit for roasting and toasting. We can't wait to go back and bring family. They in the process of building several cabins on the property which will be perfect to host families and friends. The tower is 3 stories with the kitchen on the top floor. Bunk room on middle floor and a nice master suite on the lower floor. It had an awesome deck overlooking the mountains and the swim pond. If you are looking for a private off the grid vacation for you and your family you will not be disappointed. All I can say is WOW!

Amazing Mountaintop View
My family of 4 stayed here for 3 nights. We loved the adventure that is the road leading to this home and the trails at nearby lakes. My 9-year-old especially loved Axolotyl lake. The house is gorgeous and more than spacious for the 4 of us. Would stay here again.

Amazing Place!
The Bear's Den was really a special place to stay. The furnishings were perfect for this solidly built ranch style home. There was ample room for the three of us to be very comfortable inside and we enjoyed the deck too. It was very quiet and cool at night in the mountains. The property manager Chris was very accommodating and enthusiastic. The gravel road to get there was a bit challenging, but well worth it to be able to experience this place. We loved it!
