About this property

Mint Renovated 6-Bedroom 1920 Gem In The Heart Of Acadia

Do you want to live right in the heart of Acadia in a historic Maine “summer cottage” but still have the modern conveniences of ensuite bathrooms, Subzero appliances, separate water closets, his and her showers and designer decorating? Look no further than Passage West. Pristinely renovated with mint appliances and plumbing, including Waterworks bathrooms and featuring luxurious Matouk linens and robes throughout, Passage West is the perfect summer getaway for those who appreciate nature and love the outdoors but want to have the epitome of modern luxury for their summer vacation.

Unique in Seal Harbor, Passage West is a truly special place, ideal for those who appreciate historic homes, authentic to its 1920 design while updated with all the conveniences of the 21st century.

Situated on prestigious Ox Hill in Seal Harbor, and only 0.3 miles from Seal Harbor Beach, and less than a mile from the entrance to Acadia National Park, the home is perfect for biking, hiking, and kayaking on the ocean. Rental homes are hard to come by in this exclusive neighborhood as most summer residents stay and return year after year. This shingle style 1922 home has been completely restored and renovated, sparing no expense to maintain the prewar charm while updating the home with every modern comfort and convenience. The home faces south over the Eastern Way to Sutton and the Cranberry Isles, and west over the mouth of charming Seal Harbor with its library, yacht club, and harbor teeming with picturesque sailboats. There are spectacular water views from almost every room.

The home features a living room, dining room, family room, eat in kitchen, pantry, 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, and multiple porches. Decorated by interior design firm Davis Designs (www.davisdesigns.com), the home has been featured in interior publications. Live in complete comfort while being a stone’s throw from acclaimed Acadia National Park.

Ride to the carriage trails from your front door or access every hiking trail within a 5 minute drive. The only sandy beach open to the public on Mount Dessert Island is within viewing distance from your front porch. Or just relax in the sunny screened in sun porch or any one of the multiple open-air porches and decks and breathe in the fresh ocean air and gorgeous uninterrupted views over the ocean.

** Note: The house has 6 bedrooms but we do not allow more than 5 adults to share the home. There are two primary bedrooms with gorgeous primary bathrooms, so the house is perfect for two families looking to share a vacation home. The other bedrooms are twin beds or full size beds and we do not allow those beds to be pushed together. We do not allow "share" houses or girls weekends or bachelor/bachelorette weekends.

Quintessential Maine Home
The Home in Seal Harbor was the perfect destination for our family to explore Mount Desert Island. We were located near an entrance to Acadia National Park in a beautiful neighborhood. The newly renovated 1920s home was beautiful with all the amenities one could ask for. We loved it and hope to come back soon.

My family has been coming to Mount Desert Island since I was a baby, and my children are third generation in Seal Harbor. Passage West is very special to me as it is the house I grew up coming to when I was a child. Acadia National Park is a very special place and we look forward to sharing it with you!
