About this property

Elk Hotspot w/ Views, Deck & Game Room

Relax at Elk Run, where elk graze wild and free right off the deck! Amazing views, mins from Rocky Mountain National Park (Permit 20-NCD0222). Features 2 bedrooms off to a living and dining area & a lofted game and TV room atop a spiral staircase.

+ 5 mins to National Park.
+ 1 gig fiber internet for staycations, washer/dryer, stocked kitchen, sleeps 6.

Small footprint at 672 s/f, but high on amenities and useable space. Note that two other vacation rentals sit on my 1 acre property.

Real quick, some house rules (sorry it`s no fun, but please read!!)

+ The property is more than an acre and there are three short term rentals on it. You will have neighbors, but this home is all yours (and the fence separates the spaces)
+ No early check in or late checkouts.
+ Check in is 4pm or later; check out is 10am or earlier.
+ No smoking inside or out; no fire pits; no parties; no pets.
+ 2 cars & 6 guests max per legal limit.
+ At checkout, you must do dishes and start a load of towels/hand towels/washcloths (we have negotiated a lower cleaning fee based on this).
+ No cable -- bring your own streaming accounts for the smart TV.

Onward!

Past guests have raved:

`... the cabin has all you need for a perfect mountain stay. The location is absolutely amazing and convenient, close to downtown and close to the Park`s entrance`
`... very clean, easy check in and out, great proximity to the national park and nice front porch views to enjoy in this cute moutain-y cabin!`
`... we enjoyed spending evenings watching movies in the loft and reading on the deck with breakfast. Nathan is a great host!`
`... incredibly relaxing cabins that are right next to town but feel like you’re in total solitude. Highly recommend.`

Thanks for checking the Elk Run Cabin, with views off the deck of Prospect Mountain and Twin Sisters Peaks. My cabin is on a unique property with two other short term rentals: Alpine Garden, an original 1927 home that used to sit inside Rocky Mountain National Park; and Hummingbird Cabin, a virtual twin of Elk Run but facing the opposite direction.

All rentals are separate, individual buildings with separated parking and living spaces.

Elk Run was built in 2017, but takes inspiration from historic western design; an original wagon wheel chandelier hangs down from a lofted ceiling, but it`s got smart TVs, high speed internet, endless on-demand hot water, and much more.

The home is seconds away from the best restaurant in Estes (Bird and Jim!!) and my favorite local supermarket, plus it`s on the western edge of town so you don`t have to brave downtown traffic to get into the National Park.

***** IMPORTANT DISCLOSURE *****

My 1-acre property has three short term rentals on it: this home and two other cabins. Each one has its own private parking and living spaces; the only shared area is the driveway. Guests must be respectful of the parking and noise situations. If you are looking for isolation in the woods, this is not your best bet.

*********************************************

BEDROOMS

The home has two bedrooms and has a maximum legal occupancy of six.

Bedroom 1 & 2 - The two bedrooms are on the first floor and are nearly mirror images of each other. They feature queen beds and an armoire with drawers and hangars for clothes storage.

Additional Sleeping: Additional guests can crash on the full size sofa bed/futon in the living room.

BATHROOMS

Bathroom - An efficiency bathroom with a shower, vanity and toilet.

LIVING & ENTERTAINMENT

Living & Game Rooms - Enjoy games and movies on your own streaming accounts with a smart Roku TV, or head upstairs to the lofted TV room and have fun with the retro Sega Genesis console loaded with retro games from the past.

WiFi - My entire property now has a strong mesh WiFi network with no dead zones. A 600Mbps connection will allow you to stream and work.

LAUNDRY, COOKING, DINING

Kitchen - The kitchen is fully featured with a coffee machine, oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, stove, dishwasher, pots/pans, cutlery, and much more to cook just about anything.

Dining Area - A small dining table comfortably seats four; you can squeeze in 6 with a few additional chairs elsewhere in the home.

Laundry - Feel free to use the washer and dryer in the kitchen.

This is a fully furnished, private home. You have full access to:

+ 2 bedrooms
+ 1 bathrooms
+ private parking
+ deck and outdoor dining area
+ kitchen/dining/living area

I own a small rental management company in town and have a great team of house managers, so either myself or one of them will be readily available to answer any and all questions.

My neighborhood is a typical Estes Park rural residential neighborhood, where you can see mountains all around but there are also neighbors. I ask that guests are respectful of my neighbors, self-monitor their noise levels, and do not trespass on their land.

This property is about a 15 minute walk to the Country Super Market (downhill there, uphill back), where you can hop on the free summer shuttle bus that goes all over Estes Park and takes you to the Rocky Mountain National Park visitor center, and from there you can hop on a shuttle that goes into the National Park.

However, you really need to have your own car when visiting Estes Park. There are not reliable Ubers/Lyfts and the taxis are few and far between.

NOISE

Events, loud music and noises, and parties are strictly prohibited. Please be respectful of your noise level so I can maintain good relationships with my neighbors. Note that my property has two other short term rentals on it; treat our neighbors like you`d want to be treated.

The house has a Minut, which measures sound levels and alerts us if things are too loud so I can give you a heads up. It does not record content, it only measures decibel levels so your privacy is 100% guaranteed. Guests are not to unplug it (we will also be alerted if that happens). It also measures temperature to alert us of pipe freeze conditions. It`s in the roof beam in the loft.

NONPAYING GUESTS

Insurance requires that nonpaying and non-registered guests are not allowed on property.

AIR CONDITIONER

Estes has a mild mountain climate in the summers but from time to time it can get hot. Like nearly every other home in town, there’s no A/C. The cool evening breeze will cool the home down quickly.

* After booking, guests may be asked to review and accept a standard rental agreement covering house rules, safety disclosures, liability, and damage responsibility. This agreement does not modify pricing, cancellation terms, or refund policies presented on Vrbo and is intended to be consistent with Vrbo’s terms and the listing details.

Just a few minor “negatives/heads up” before the good. The cabin next door is pretty close, we had great neighbors but if they are outside or have music or kids you can definitely hear the inside your cabin, again ours were great and don’t hear them after dinner time and even wha we heard wasn’t disruptive at all. Internet could be a little spotty, not that we needed it much but after a long day out hiking and exploring we did watch some tv to wind down and it did eventually work ok. The neighbors up the road had a dog that barked nonstop one evening, must have stopped at some point because it wasn’t a problem after we fell asleep, and lastly, could step up the coffee machine game, I mean if it’s listed as a big headline for the place anyways. Just a few minor things to be aware of but having said that, location was phenomenal, mostly secluded. Cabin was clean and comfortable with some great amenities! Highly recommend, will hopefully be back!!

Cute and cozy. We loved the cabin. Very clean and comfortable. Had everything we needed.

I would definately recommend the cabin. We enjoyed our stay. I'm sure we'll be back. Had elk and mule deer outside our cabin and a few rabbits as well.

We loved the location of this property. Close to the entrance of RMNP and close to all the shops and dining in Estes, but out and away so you felt a little more secluded. Communication was excellent. We came in late at night, so the clear instructions we were given about how to access the cabin was extremely helpful. The cabin itself was very nice, clean, and well maintained. Absolutely no complaints and if/when we come to Estes again, we will definitely want to stay here.

This property is one of a kind. It is very efficient and modern while still having a cabin rustic feel. I do wish the couch was more comfortable, that would have been nice. Other than that, things we enjoyed were the views, the water pressure and all of the added touches. We did not have a baby with us but I saw a baby backpack for hiking and thought that was thoughtful! Great washer/dryer and aplliances too. This property is beautiful. One way down the road gets you into town ans the other way is a beautiful small lake to take a picnic or walk around. We will definitely be back!

Wonderful cabin getaway in the mountains.

Our family enjoyed this beautiful little cabin in Estes Park. The loft was a big hit with our 14 year old son. Very comfortable and clean. Our first getaway since the pandemic started and we felt very safe here. Loved everything about our stay. Thank you!

Lovely little cabin

Cabin is fairly new & in a great location. Close to the RMNP & a short drive to grocery store & shopping. Owners are accessible to your needs. The cabin has all you would need for a short or long term stay. The only things I would recommend is that the pillows, bedding & towels be updated. Otherwise a perfectly wonderful place to stay!

Our stay at this cabin was fantastic! It was in a great location, only minutes from downtown and one of the entrances to RMNP. It was clean and had everything we could need while we were there. Communication with the owners was easy and timely. Would highly recommend booking this cabin if looking to stay in Estes Park!

Elk Run lives up to its name

This was a perfect little cabin for our 4 person family. The kids loved the spiral staircase up to the loft. The cabin was immaculately clean, and small but roomy enough, and just really cute. There were plenty of kitchen essentials (except tongs for the grill, but we got by using a fork). They supplied the basics.... salt, pepper, olive oil, etc. We appreciated the little washer/dryer unit and they even supplied the laundry detergent. Checking in and out was easy. I'd definitely stay here again. Also, just when I thought we weren't going to see any elk, we had a large group of them visit on our last evening, and then a large bull munched his way past the cabin on our last morning. It was a great stay.

Cutest little cabin

Loved just about everything about this little cabin. Location was great, and everything was in good working order. There’s only a few things I wish were there. I would have liked an 8x8 and/or a 9x13 casserole dish. Also, I am allergic to down pillows so perhaps a firmer synthetic pillow would have been nice. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay very much & hope to return soon.
