Great location. This stay allowed us to travel 20 min (instead of an hour both ways) to a family gathering in Damascus. The ability to bring our pets was a plus. The picture of the front porch was probably taken 1 - 2 years ago, it did not look this fresh.

My wife, dog and I came to this region of PA to catch some foliage and let our dog run off into the sunset since we reside in NYC. This sprawling space gives complete privacy, provides a rowboat and life vest(s) to do your thing on the lake, and the owner responds to any inquiries almost immediately. The property is just a beautiful as the surrounding area -- so stay put or explore -- deer and black bear passed through the property during our 3-day stay.Bring your fishing poles and enjoy this hilly, beautiful country, and property. If you love the outdoors awesome! If not, the wifi is great and the home is spacious and comfy with great climate control and multiple smart TVs.

Spring get together..

Enjoyed staying at Leonard's property for our annual fishing trip for the second year in row. Looking forward to doing it again next year. We loved cooking our catch on the grill as we watched the sunset. This is a great property and Leonard is a gracious host.

This place was perfect for my family, renovated but still has a lot of character. The owner was great, everything was provided for you. The kitchen table was the perfect size for sitting around and plying games. I would definitely stay here again!

Great place for R & R

This 200 year old farmhouse is a little gem. It has some great features: Nice shaded porch with new grill, lots of new appliances and excellent WIFI and TV. Fishing was outstanding with small and largemouth bass giving us plenty of action, along with crappie and sunfish. Peaceful! Good dining spaces---indoor and out. Great place to bring a dog too.

Feels like a home away form home

In my family had such a good time up there. A nice relaxing Country House on the lake where my little one could run around with the dog and my older boys can go fishing. My wife and mother-in-law spent the time around the fire drinking wine on the porch and reminded them of their lake house from when they were children. Overall a great experience and I can't wait to go up there again.

We decided to stay here so we could give our pup a vacation from fireworks. Cabin was clean and comfortable. Only disappointment was that the grass wasn't cut (I do know that there was wet weather recently), but it wasn't the easiest of playtime with the dog.

Charming rustic farmhouse with updated amenities

We came here to enjoy some quality family time. Check in was a breeze, wifi worked great and easy to connect. Nice updated kitchen with everything you need. We loved the fire pit and rowboat. So peaceful, perfect for getting back to nature. Our dog loved exploring the property. The central air is wonderful. Leonard was available for any questions via text. Would definitely stay again. Great Experience

We arrived at night which made it difficult to find the house due to the darkness. However, we were able to find it after contacting Leonard who then gave us a few landmarks to follow. House was just as in the pictures. Beds were very comfortable. We enjoyed the stars and firepit at night. We also enjoyed the quietness, even though there was a road nearby the noise of the cars passing was very minimum. Kitchen was equipped with the basics for quick meals. There was plenty of space for all four adults. House had central a/c. Will definitely consider staying again!

Not everything is as it seems

Overall we enjoyed our stay. This was a getaway for my husband's birthday. The house itself was as expected, an old farmhouse nicely renovated. What wasn't expected is the very high grass all around the property, even difficult to walk down to where the boat was to fish. Three people were in the boat fishing when we arrived and when it started to really rain they finally came in. The chairs around the property were upside down, dirty, and sitting in the tall grass. And the website says it's cleaned and sanitized. No way was this place cleaned at all. Someone must have washed the towels recently because they were still wet in the dryer so we turned that on right away. I live in a 100 year old house and it's very clean so it was not the age that was the problem. It did not look like the owner was expecting anyone there. It was very disappointing to say the least, especially in light of all the good reviews we read on the website. A rental property should have the grass cut, the porch ready to sit on and relax and the house clean. Any cleaning fee the owner paid should be returned immediately. We would not want to rent here again.

Perfect for our group!

This house was perfect for what we needed! The large kitchen table allowed us all to sit around it to eat and to play games. It was such a cozy old farmhouse. It was close to Elk (about 25-30 minutes since roads were a bit snowy). There was a cute neighborhood bar/restaurant right down the street. Heat worked well (FYI there are two different thermostats for the different floors which we did not realize at first - dumb on our part). The only negatives were that the pipes in the upstairs bathroom froze while we were there, to no fault of the owners. It was cold as could be (like 2 degrees outside). The owner answered right away and gave us some suggestions, but unfortunately it was just too cold. It was fine for us since we had no set plans and could all share the downstairs bathroom, but if you know a large group of people need showers, just plan ahead in case it happens again. Only other thing is that we thought we would have the large property to ourselves. There were about 10 people that came and went to the lake on the property. We didn't mind, but they did walk very close to the house, causing our dog to constantly run around barking at them. Not a big deal since our dog calms down easily, but just as an FYI in case your dog does not like strangers or has anxiety. Very happy they allowed dogs! Our dog LOVED running around. We live in the city so this was a real treat for him. Since we weren't right by any roads, he could run freely. The price was perfect. It allowed a small group of us to spend a weekend away without breaking the bank. I would definitely stay here again. Thanks for sharing your home!

Week with hurricane debby

Unfortunately we traveled & stayed during the peak of hurricane debby. When we arrived, someone was cleaning dirt (soil) away from inside front door. When the heavy rain came water came in under that door - few inches worth. Several times there was a pool of water in that hallway. Floors are so uneven/slanted that all of it stayed in that low spot thankfully. There were many large black flies in kitchen & kept coming in around a very loose window. I stuffed TP in the openings & they gradually stopped. There was an overwhelming smell of dampness & mustiness in house that never went away. House was surface clean. We cleaned the porch so we could use it. Chairs & table were filthy. There was an old Woodstove sitting by porch half-filled with beer cans. No point in complaining to host about these things. A rental @ this price should not be offered in this condition. My family is awesome & made the best of everything. We loved the property with the acreage & gorgeous lake. But-if I had arrived with young children, I would have left by 2nd day. Too many things to list here….but this home is in poor condition & with the amount of water that we had coming in & laying in hallway to door - I don’t think it’s safe. Leonard was a very nice man, but he actually asked us to write a good review for him. I really wish I could, but this place needs a lot of attention inside & out. Not many folks would be happy with the things we dealt with. Especially after what we paid.

You need to put some money into this place

Let me preface this with my background. I came from very poor country and lived in very poor conditions half my life. Stayed in one too many a roach motels. While i am sure that this location and lot has many positives, i was not able to see them because we had to leave and quickly as soon as we got there. I am not going to get into details because the main problems I had could have been due to very poor housekeeping. My #1 out of a litany of advice to the host who is the only reason why i gave this place more than 0 starts: Put more money into this place. Its a health and safety hazard. I had 5 kids with me. Your liability for them breaking their teeth on your top step and countless other pediatric hazards that wont pass new code, is very high in this property. If you own this home consider fixing it up beyond the bottom of the barrel handyman special you have now. It is evident by the thumbtack garbage bag in the ground bathroom window that you simply dont care enough considering the last negative review mentioned it prior. The mice/rat droppings were the reason we left. The countless other complaints were insignificant because i am used to them. It does not make it acceptable. I am no stranger to crappy living spaces. This experience cost me alot in time and money. The only reason you get above a 0 is because you are approachable and communicative.

Lots of character

We had a wonderful ski weekend with friends and family! Our teenagers enjoyed their room and the modern Wi-Fi and tv’s. This is an old farmhouse that has been modernized but does retain a lot of character! Don’t expect right angles and level floors lol! Beautiful morning sun coming in over the lake. I’m sure in the summer we would really enjoy more of the outside property.

Secluded and Sealed

Charming in a way only possible with a 200 year old house. Wonderfully secluded, but only a quick drive to Honesdale. Very responsive host - he lives nearby, this is not a corporate managed rental. Do not expect to open the windows and enjoy the autumn breezes. In an effort at preservation, the owners permanently sealed the windows shut. It feels very odd to have to run the central AC on late fall evening with temperatures in the 40s outside. Despite this, ladybugs by the hundreds found their way in, gathering to hybernate over the winter.

nice getaway

The house was overall great - some minor things like doors didn't lock or not enough towels for our family of 9. The lake was definitely not for swimming (it wasn't included in the description of the house, we thought we could make it work - but it was too muddy and the Lilly pads were too thick). We enjoyed our stay and the owner responded promptly to any questions we had during our stay. He was very helpful with giving us places to go around the area.
