Quaint lake front home, with closed in sun porch, decks, and spacious yard. Rails to trails 2/10 a mile away. Wedding venues close by-The Pennsylvania Farm at Cottrell or on Birchtown Stables. Full kitchen and dining room. Lots of counter top to prepare and bake cookies. Tables to enjoy meals outside on decks or near lake. Enjoy local flavor meals from Cables General Store- sit outside by the red caboose and creek, eat at the Speakeasy Restaurant or Beacon. Discount for 7 nights or a month. Observe eagles fly across the lake, deer in the yard, a blue heron fly by, and a zillion stars in the sky on a clear night.

Lake is stocked with fish so bring your fishing rod. Ski at Elk Mountain. Close enough to ski for hours then pop home for a home cooked meal and go skiing again. Roast marshmallows over the fire pit and enjoy the peace and quiet of the night with sounds from nature.

Enjoy skiing, hiking, biking, walking, fishing, golfing, (read a good book by the lake), stargazing, or just sitting for a break! Park your car - and enjoy the area.For the security of our guests and the safety of our home, we have an external security camera located on the front doorbell. It captures only the outside in front of front door and driveway.

Nice getaway for a couple of days

We were greeted on arrival by the host, who was very accommodating throughout our stay. The house was inviting, comfortable and equipped with anything we needed. We tried several of the recommended eateries, and enjoyed each of them! Great place to stay if you’re looking for a house by the lake!

Great location

We were up for a weekend ski trip. This was the perfect location. 10 minutes from Elk, and 10 minutes from all of our favorite food/bars!

Nothing short of amazing!

Amazing location, extremely regret not having more time at this property! Bobby and Karen were the sweetest people ever, gave such good recommendations and was super attentive to us, answering any questions that we had. My boyfriend and I are already in the talks about returning next year. Space was clean, neat and beautiful. Thank you for such an amazing stay!

Great experience. Only issue was the heat in the house. Bedroom AC worked well, but rest of the house was extremely hot. Other than that, the stay was good.

Cottage Feel

The cottage was comfortable and clean. Bit dated but that’s what cottages are about. Bob and his wife where lovely. The kitchen was fully equipped. BBQ worked great. It does only have Roku on the TV. Overall it was a pleasant stay.

Just what we were looking for

My sister and I spent 4 wonderful days here in early August. We hiked up Elk Mountain (1000 feet elevation), rode our bicycles on the nearby rail trail, went swimming every afternoon and had the whole lake to ourselves. Our hosts were welcoming on arrival and responsive before and throughout our stay. Their house was very comfortable for two people - we particularly enjoyed having morning coffee and lunch on the porch, under an umbrella, overlooking the lake - 'serenity plus'! We brought groceries with us, as the nearest store was about 10 miles away, and the small general store 0.2 miles down the road was great for sandwiches and takeout pizza - it's also the place to meet the friendly locals. I was concerned there might be a problem with mosquitos, being right on the lake, but I'm happy to report that there were none. This was a lovely spot to unwind and just what we needed.

Lakefront vacation

Originally, we were looking at rentals in the southern Poconos region but lakefront homes were out of our price range. After expanding the search criteria, we found this location and were thrilled. The property was exactly what we were looking for for our fishing vacation. The lake was well stocked and appeared very clean. The area is very remote so pack your food, although after some googling, I found a small grocery store called Zazzara's about 5-6 miles from the house. The owners had plenty of other supplies available, such as paper towels, tp, napkins, etc. My only critique is that the house could use a top to bottom, professional, deep cleaning. The kitchen, bathroom and carpets were cleaned but the house was very dusty with noticible cobwebs. My husband even cleaned out the filter for the window AC located in the back bedroom. Despite this, the positive outweighed the negatve

Annual reunion of long-time friends.

This was our 3rd stay at the Rails to Trails Lakehouse. Although the weather was cold and wet, we had a great relaxing weekend and even caught a few bass.

Nice setting

We care about beds, bathroom, sitting furniture and cleanliness .Also quiet relaxed setting. The setting was very nice but no biting fish at lake. beds were good , bathroom was ok (old toilet) furniture was not very comfortable and had dog odor indoors. Hosts seemed nice, responsive.

Perfect family stay

Our boys fished the entire day and night away catching and releasing! There was plenty of outddoor space for a family get together. We had great host that answered any question we had. The house is exactlly as shown in pictures. The "cozy sleeping area" is just as much a bedroom as the others. We visit p.a often as i have family there! We have found our new everytime stay! With this home!

Great lake house

The house was great. Everything you need is inside (pots, pans, utensils, cutlery, even a griddle for pancakes). The inside of the house was spotless. Outside- the multi level decks and outdoor grill were great for our fall getaway. The lake is viewable from the kitchen and sunroom. We used the fire pit on a chilly late October night and it was great. The owners are so nice and offer details of everything to do in the area. We will be visiting again next year.
