The building underwent full renovation in 2004 and the project was awarded the second prize in an yearly competition that appraises the reconstruction of old town buildings throughout Portugal. Its major source of beauty are the glazed tiles (azulejos), dating from the 18th and 19th centuries, which are different from floor to floor, thus rendering each apartment unique.
