Four Bedroom Beauty in Historic Neighborhood

Tower House, named for a nearby, iconic water tower, is a spectacular four bedroom home located in Chico's historic Avenues neighborhood. The century-old bungalow, beautifully remodeled and expanded to 2,000 square feet of elegance and inviting style, is family friendly and studded with welcoming spaces. Each floor has two bedrooms and a bathroom. Several blocks to restaurants and stores; easy walk to downtown Chico, CSU campus and Bidwell Park. Three bikes make exploring fun and easy.
we bought and furnished a home to meet our own high expectations: gourmet kitchen, quality linens, blackout drapes, expansive TV selections and fast wifi. We have books, board games and playing table, and are baby friendly with pack n play, high chair, toys and stairway gates if needed.

Our decor is neutral and soothing and the upstairs bathroom includes a claw foot soaking tub. This home offers plenty of space to enjoy, whether in still-Covid cautious times or in the future when normal life and big celebrations resume. (Note our professional cleaning service adheres rigidly to covid hygiene standards.)

Downstairs includes enclosed front porch, living room, kitchen, dining and two bedrooms on either side of a bathroom. Upstairs has the primary bedroom (with private deck and large closet), a queen sized bedroom and a bathroom with shower and soaking tub between the two.

We've stocked the kitchen with brand new dishes and glassware for 12. We provide both Keurig and 12-cup coffee makers; everyday cooking gear along with instant pot, crock pot, immersion blender, ricer, food processor and hand mixer.

The enclosed front porch is perfect for morning coffee; the upstairs veranda or wisteria-draped side patio (with table and chairs) is ideal for afternoon happy hour. Backyard landscape renovation is underway. For peace of mind or potential health care needs, Enloe Hospital is just two blocks away. And if homeschool or remote working is on the agenda, rest assured Tower House offers several ideal spots to set up shop. We want you to have an easy stay that starts with keypad entry. No keys to worry about! We are proud to have all five star reviews and appreciate the comments about the home’s scrupulous cleanliness. We work with Chico’s premier commercial cleaning crew. We stayed here during the Labor Day weekend to attend a wedding and really enjoyed it. The charming house was perfect for our 5 adults with a bedroom for everyone, exactly as pictured on the listing. The house cooled down pretty quickly with A/C as it was 101 while we were there! The host was great with communication also. Thank you for your hospitality!

Everything about this home exceeded all expectations!! The home it self was BEAUTIFUL, not to mention the amazing and private yard!! The furnishings were beautiful and comfortable! Perfect home for your Family

Our whole family stayed in this house for my niece's graduation. It was the perfect home to stay and all be together under one roof. There are 4 comfortable bedrooms an air mattress if needed. The house and gardens are all lovely and well maintained. Great location near town and the university. The kitchen is fully stocked with plenty of dishes, glasses - everything you need. We hung out a lot in the kitchen and dining room area drinking coffee and playing games. The host was super attentive and communicative. We could not have asked for a better stay - Thank you Maggie!

Perfect place to rest and share meals

Our family goes back generations in Chico, so this home felt very familiar. Owner was great to work with, best I've had at a VRBO. Everything was as represented. Kitchen is very accommodating for this size of group; kitchen and baths are upgraded. We even arrived to find an unsolicited gift and card from the owner. No need for us to shop around next time we come to Chico!

Wonderful Weekend Escape

My friends and I rented Maggie’s property to celebrate my 30th birthday with a low-key, garden themed dinner. This house was perfect for our staycation. It was clean, spacious, and served as a wonderful escape for us all. This house is close enough to walk to downtown or to take a trip to campus. Entry to the property was very easy and Maggie is a very accommodating host. I would absolutely recommend this property to anyone I know looking for a spot to stay in Chico. Would love to come back.

Property was so clean. Maggie was super available. House had more in it than you could ever need. We felt right at home. Beds were cozy, a/c worked great. We stayed for my daughter’s wedding and Maggie was more than accommodating and easy going. The kitchen was full of utensils and all the details were perfect. Even the yard! Exceeded our Expectations

We were in Chico for an anniversary party. Our family of seven -all adults- stayed at the house. The house was perfect for our needs. Everyone had their own bedroom and there was plenty of space for us to gather in the great room/kitchen. The house is clean, well supplied and comfortable! It was decorated for the holidays which was a nice surprise, and there were nice touches throughout the house such as fresh flowers. The house was everything I expected from what was listed on the vrbo listing. Maggie was very quick to respond to any questions I had. The house is stocked with everything you would need even extra spices and oil. The items you only need a small amout and dont really want to buy when on vacation. The neighborhood is safe and quiet.

lovely spot to enjoy Chico

We loved staying together in this 4 bedroom house with three generations. With two bedrooms upstairs and two downstairs, it was easy for everyone to have the space they needed. The kitchen is beautiful and well equipped with plenty of space to hang out at the table or the island. The house was exceptionally clean and well maintained. We didn't end up using the back yard much but it was nice and would be a good place to hang out. The master bedroom is large and the other three are on the smaller side, but roomy enough for us. The beds and bedding were good quality and I enjoyed the ceiling fans throughout the house. There were nice touches like a flashlight in the bedroom drawer. The kids enjoyed finding and tasting ripe loquats. I would stay here again.

Everything was just perfect, from our communications with Maggie, the host to our stay in her beautiful home. The only issue we had was due to the heat wave hitting northern CA and waiting for the A/C to kick in. Once it did, we were in luxury and comfort. I can’t recommend this house enough. The 4 bedroom newly updated house is amazing plus the great backyard to hang out and play in. Great gathering place for family and friends. Maggie was super helpful and quick to respond! We would definitely stay again!

We are a Chico native/ Chico State alum and spouse who have been lured back by the arrival of our first grandchild, who lives three blocks away with our daughter and son in law. We are ecstatic to be back.

Why they chose this property

This home is ideally located in one of Chico's oldest, best character neighborhoods. Easy walk to downtown; nearby restaurants and grocery stores. Just two blocks to Enloe Hospital, and two blocks off Chico's gracious Esplanade.

On top of location, this home has a century-plus of character (original small house was built in 1908); we've added square footage, spaciousness and modern appointments, all designed for easy and elegant living.

What makes this property unique

We love this house and every minute we spend in it....and are happy to offer it to guests for the times we are not here. After years of staying in air bnb b's and VRBO properties, we wanted a home with thoughtful design and equipment, matching dishes and towels, good cookware, contemporary decor, and a warm, welcoming, comfortable and safe feeling. This is a house we've made a home.
