If you love sitting on the end of a dock ...watching the sun go down with a glass of wine or being more active and kayaking around a beautiful lake, then this recently modernized cottage maybe what you are looking for. With over 25, five star ratings, others agree.
The two bedroom house has recently been comfortably updated by architect-owner with walls removed to create more light, The cottage has 2 small bedrooms both with queen beds. Bed linens and towels are provided.Internet provided.
The summers are warm and perfect views facing west so you can have awesome sunsets. This cottage gets great sun all summer long approx. 11am to 8pm. In the Fall, the leaves are spectacular. And in Winter, you can cross country skiing on the lake when its frozen . Mount Sunapee is only 20 minutes away if you are a downhill skier or snowboarder.

Perfect waterfront location

Cozy, comfortable, clean and inviting stay. The men/boy in the family loved the fishing. It was nice to be able to include our 2 dogs.

Great little getaway!

My girlfriend and I adored our stay! Everyone in the area was super friendly, neighbors would wave when youre on the water, people were genuinely kind up here. House was in great condition as well, nothing to complain about.

Wonderful Lake Retreat

We had such a great time at the lake property. The cottage is just as pictured in the description, neat clean and very cozy. The host supplied everything we could need to have a comfortable week. The location was private, surrounded by woods, yet close enough to neighbors to feel safe. And it is situated within short drives to lots of fun attractions, like Queechee Gorge, Woodstock and The Vermont Country Store. Lots of good restaurants, too. We would plan on going back in warmer weather to enjoy the lake. Our dog also had a great time running around. Thank you!

a welcome escape

What a beautiful spot. We loved the porch sitting and the kayaking. Inside, the rooms are comfortable and pleasant. The kitchen is well stocked. Thank you! A couple of recommendations: Get a kitchen basket with a cover. Clean the oven.

Scenic and quiet

This is a great location on the lake in a fairly secluded area, though there are neighbors. Very peaceful and quiet. The stone steps can be difficult to navigate for anyone with mobility issues. My wife and I both use canes and managed ok. Internet went out for a few hours (for the whole area it turns out) and most of the phone numbers listed don't work. We did get a reply back through VRBO messages after an hour or so. Everything was comfortable and as described. Highly recommend!!!

Great cottage

Very clean, amenities plentiful. We enjoyed our stay. Only downsides were the stairs to get to cottage from parking lot. Rather steep and,difficult for us as with knee and leg issues. I wasn't impressed with swimming area, lots of plants, etc. But the water was,very clean. I hadn't gone there for swimming. Just wanted the cooler, pleasant respite from the hot weather in FL! Recommend this,cottage definitely.

A Weekend We Won't Soon Forget!

We spent Labor Day weekend at this charming country cottage on Crescent Lake while visiting my elderly parents, and it couldn't have been more perfect! It had been several years since we’d seen them, and we wanted to make the visit extra special by hosting a small family gathering. Since their senior housing apartment is quite small, this lovely cottage was the ideal spot. Not only is the location picturesque, right on the lake, but the owner, Beth, was incredibly responsive and accommodating. Thanks to her, my parents enjoyed a beautiful afternoon with their children, grandchildren, and great-grandson. We had a wonderful lunch outdoors in the shade with a stunning view of the lake. We’re already looking forward to visiting again next year and will be booking in advance to make sure the cottage is available! Highly recommend!

Amazing!

The perfect place for a peaceful, autumn, getaway! The kitchen was fully stocked! The beds were comfortable! The view was beautiful! Kayaking was great! My husband greatly enjoyed the fishing! We did not want to leave.

A Beautiful Spot

The cottage is small, but very well appointed, everything you need is there. The view is gorgeous and can be seen from the living room, dining room and best of all the screened porch. We went kayaking and swimming and hung out on the dock and screen porch. It is great that the cove is a no wake zone, and people observed it, so quiet and peaceful.

Peaceful and relaxing

This was a perfect vacation destination for me!!! The cabin had everything I needed and more. The views were beautiful and I loved that there were woods so close to explore. Beth and her family were very friendly and they shared their kayaks to paddle around the lake. I highly recommend this cabin rental for anyone looking to get out of the city, get a little peace and relaxation and enjoy the beautiful outdoors.

It’s The View!

If you want a well-equipped, quiet, clean cabin with an extraordinary view of a lake, this is a great spot. The screened in porch, the landscaping, stonework, trees and flowers with green grass right to the water make it an idyllic setting. Owners were very responsive to questions. We’ll hopefully be back!

Relaxing weekend away

My family and I had a very restful weekend away over Memorial Day. The cottage is well stocked and comfortable with everything we needed plus some! The azaleas outside were in full bloom and I got to drink my morning coffee watching the hummingbirds visit them. Beth, Grant and Charlie were wonderful hosts! We will be back.

Beautiful setting, wonderful host

Updated and improved lake home in a beautiful setting, with lots of thought and effort put into comfort, convenience, form, and function. Pictures are accurate and tell the story. I love to cook, and the kitchen is very well stocked with all kinds of utensils, small appliances (3 ways to make coffee!). There was some unexpected repair needed. Beth was a gracious and responsive host. She arranged repair rapidly, and checked with us to see that things were working well. Could not have asked for more. I have many memories, pictures, and recordings of loons, owl, geese, and other wildlife that I will treasure for years....

Relaxing getaway

Husband and I wanted to getaway from the city life. The home looked exactly like the photos. Had everything we needed. it was clean and the owner lives next door and introduced herself. She was very pleasant and helpful. It was refreshing to be lazy and relax for a change. Thanks Beth!

Wonderful vacation at this quiet, comfortable lake cottage!

This cottage is in a truly relaxing, quiet spot with wonderful sunset views. It is cozy and well-equipped. I loved the decor and the fact that it had all we needed without being cluttered with knick-knacks. The open layout affords great lake views from the living/kitchen area. And of course the screened in porch was a favorite spot. We had a fire a few nights in the fire pit outside and used the grill every day. Communications with the owner beforehand was great so we knew what to expect. We would definitely rent this cottage again!

Nice private lake house

We enjoyed out stay, it was nice that Beth allows pets as we were able to bring our rescue dog that has never stayed anywhere other than home since being adopted. He did really well, because of the privacy that lake house provided. We had a small fishing boat we were able to park at the dock and spent a lot of time on the water, even though it's been a rainy summer, we had a great restful vacation. We would definitely stay here again. It's affordable and the house is equipped with everything you could want, in the kitchen. The only thing that would be nice, is Air Conditioning, we actually did not need it as it was colder at night so we just opened the windows. But if it had been really warm we would have probably used it. Overall Beth is a 5 star

Sweet Cottage

Overall a pleasant and restful stay. Good wifi, equipped kitchen, nice screened in porch. Perfect size for 2 adults. Figuring out the TV was complicated. Maybe we missed instructions? We didn't try the row boat because it was far from the dock and were told it had a leak. Nice kayaks! Several items to note for other renters: The listing doesn't mention steep stone steps from the parking lot to the cottage with uneven large stones to the front door. As we are well into our 60's loading in and out was a little tough. The plastic chairs for the fire pit were uncomfortable. One bed is very firm and the other is medium firm. Good bedroom drawer space and hooks. Plenty of pillows. Kitchen could use steak knives. Otherwise cookware was great and plenty of dishes. Very little dish soap. Some cooking supplies but not anything to get you through a week. (Bring spices, oil, condiments, coffee, tea, etc.) I don't recommend dining at The Common Man in Claremont. Very disappointing. We enjoyed the space, a little expensive for the location; town is a bit distressed with empty storefronts, limited shopping, things to do. Adding a decent fishing boat would be ideal and bring value to the rental.

Nice scenic location but......

Crescent lake is a beautiful small lake far away from the hustle and bustle. We had a fairly rainy week but hey that's 2023 so we made the best. The cove where the property is located is entirely a wake free zone. According to the lake steward who helps out at the boat ramp this is the reason the cove is so choked with vegetation and the remainder of the lake is weed free. A trip around the lake confirmed this. We were unable to launch our jet drive boat for fear of clogging and prop driven vessels in the cove had to stop post vegetation shut down the motors and raise the engines to clean the props and shafts. (so inboard/outboard probably not a good idea either unless you're a diver) Fishing from the dock was difficult due to the growth as well. There was some hardscape going on at a neighboring property that started at 8am and ended about 3pm it's a long-term noisy (tractors, trucks, rock drills) project. Something I should have been made aware of well in advance. The cottage, while well-equipped and having some updates, is very rustic with aging furniture. (the couches have plywood propping up worn springs) The Weber gas grill needs a new burner at a minimum. We would definitely go back to Crescent Lake but would look for a property not in sunset cove.

Overall good stay

Overall our stay was good. But there are some things to know if like us you expect a quiet, carefree stay. The house has been updated in some areas, the water is steps away with nice views and the swimming area is sandy, not rocky! The kids loved jumping from the dock and catching fish there too. We enjoyed the kayaks and row boat as often as possible. That said, there were some unexpected stressors during our stay. We walked in at the check in time to find the cabin unlocked in the front and back. Mildly disconcerting. We found the bedrooms were a bit in need of some TLC. in the smaller room was a foot sized hole in the floor which is covered by carpet. Tripped over it several times. And were aware of the pitter-patter of rodents scurrying around the bedroom all night (could use some of those plug-in deterrents). We cleaned up rodents poop in the kitchen each morning so stored all of our food in the fridge. The owner was responsive by the app, which was nice. She dropped off some extra dish soap and let us know they were having a wedding at their house next door during our stay. We felt a tiny bit in the way knowing that, with the proximity of their house, and our excited kids and dog, and felt the need to be extra quiet. The owners had several dogs visiting their house who roamed freely over to the rental property too, which meant we could not let our dog out for much of the two nicest days, as she is a nervous rescue. That was very disappointing as the whole reason we rented a house with her, rather than staying in a dog friendly hotel, was that we expected have our own space to relax together. She stayed inside much of our stay. On the day of the wedding they were hosting, the owners moved their giant boat into the swimming area of the rental property, where we were staying. From 10 to 5, we felt that we couldn't freely swim, fish or boat as we had before, for worry of hitting this big boat that was parked in the prime spot for doing all those things. We did not attempt to take the row boat out that day for fear of hitting the giant boat. So we lost a day of that. I did not need that extra worry, and that was not something I would reasonably expect since none of this was disclosed. For us these things all made our stay more stressful than relaxing, with our pretty reasonable expectation for being able to relax and keep to ourselves, to swim, fish and boat without feeling that we were in the way.

Our family has been on Crescent Lake since 1982. My parents built a house then, about 13 years later my husband and I built a house and when the next door cottage became available in 2008, we couldn't resist......

Why they chose this property

We think this might be one of the best properties on the lake. Located in the cove it's quiet since it's a no wake zone of the lake.
But you get fantastic westerly views and beautiful sunsets.
It's just really beautiful and peaceful.

What makes this property unique

Just 2 hours from Boston it's a pretty easy drive. Close to ski mountains in winter and lots of fun activities on the lake in the summer. Screen in porch is a nice place to read and enjoy the view.
