A peaceful, charming beach town that’s ideal for a quiet getaway. The house offers generous space and is just a short stroll from the shoreline. If you appreciate the character of classic beach homes, this stay will feel like a perfect fit.
Such a wonderful, quiet, little beach town - perfect for an escape! The house is a short walk from the beach with plenty of space. If you love old beach homes, you will love this stay!
We had a fantastic time eating at Lucia’s house. So close to the beach and we had everything we needed for a perfect summer weekend getaway. We will be back!
We had a great stay for the weekend in Betterton. There were 7 of us, 3 families and we all had our own space. The location of the house is perfect, we walked down to the beach and had a nice morning. Would definitely return.
We had a great experience here. The house was even closer to the beach than we expected - barely a block with a great lookout over the water at sunset on the walk. Host was accessible and a very helpful communicator. We had 2 families with 2 kids and 1 kid respectively and the layout worked great - plenty of space to gather, eat, and have room for both families to have their own space. Great stay!
Water view, quiet nights, very close to beach. Reminds me of visits to my Grandmother's house as a kid only with a modern kitchen and a flat screen TV. We had a great time.
Our daughter was graduating from UD and we wanted a place to stay that would also be a nice get away. It was us, my sister and brother-in-law, our sons and their girlfriends. We had a mix of truly horrible weather and stunningly gorgeous weather. The house was a great place to be no matter the weather. The beach is nice and the town is lovely to walk around. It is a a sweet place to stay.
This is our favorite place to vacation! The house is absolutely beautiful and so close to the beach! The hosts are so nice and provide chairs/umbrellas/toys for the beach to ensure you have a great visit. We will definitely be back again.
We have been renting this house for a number of years. Each time has been great! It can hold a large group and is within walking distance of the beach. This review would have been five stars but one of our days was affected by a temporary loss of electricity. It was caused by some issue with the outside connection. The host was easily contacted and efficiently took care of it. We enjoyed our stay and plan to be back next year.
Such a fabulous cottage! So roomy and had everything in it you would need for a vacation! Every room was immaculate. I loved staying here and would rent this cottage anytime I get to visit Betterton, Md.
This house is great for family gatherings. It has a large number of rooms and a couple of common areas. Check in was a breeze and the host is easy to contact. We love that the beach is so close by and there are useful beach items available for renters to use.
Wonderful holiday weekend stay at this welcoming home. Truly felt like a home away from home! Communication was excellent and Lucia and Ben are thoughtful and very accommodating hosts. Highly recommend!
We had a wonderful y to time. Thanks so much for sharing your home.

Nice home close to the beach. Loved the history.
Had a very nice stay. House was extremely hot when we arrived but cooled down rather quickly after starting the air so no worries. Very close walk to the beach and a couple good restaurants. Thank you Ben & Lucia. Hope we get the chance to stay again!

Thanks for your nice sentiments and yes do come back!
We had a very lovely weekend, at this beautiful property. A nice walk to the beach, and magnificent view. The house was exactly as described, and more. Lucia was easy to get into contact with, and was very nice. Definitely recommend the stay!
Betterton Beach is definitely a hidden gem! Absolutely relaxing. Property owner was always quick in responding and pleasant to deal with. House was big enough for my entire family and the views were perfect.

About the host

Our family is from the Philadelphia area, just 2 hour drive to Betterton, Maryland. Our careers are medical/hospital related and insurance managers. We grew up in the northeast section of Philadelphia, a suburb approximately 20 miles north of downtown Philadelphia. One of us was born in Italy and immigrated to the USA as a very small child. We still have family in southern Italy and visit there as often as possible.
Why they chose this property
Our family has owned this home since 1997; we are from the Philadelphia area and when we made a decision to purchase a "beach house" we wanted a place to reflect a beach community of a bygone era. We stumbled into Betterton on a snowy, cold winter day. As soon as we came up Main Street and saw the Bay below and the beach signs, we knew this would be the place for our "beach house." The first summer in Betterton we were so pleasantly surprised at the peacefulness of the community; the friendliness of the neighbors -- they waving as they pass by. This would prove to us that we would always have a place to relax and enjoy the company of family, friends, and neighbors in a way that we could have only dreamed. The very first upgrade would be to expand the deck because we knew this would be where we could view the bay and watch the boats; we could congregate for morning coffee, eat our meals outdoors and generally enjoy outdoor living. As time went by, we converted the heating system to a modern day convenience -- central air conditioning. This proved to be challenging in a house built in 1929, but it was accomplished! The kitchen has been completely remodeled and we preserved the built-in cupboard! My dear late Mom cooked up many a big meal for us in there! Hope you will enjoy this home as your own!
What makes this property unique
Our beach house is vary spacious and no photo can capture the large open spaces and common areas where a large number of people can gather together for a meal, watch TV, play games, or simply talk!
