The host was welcoming, the house looked great, very clean, and well appointed. The kitchen had everything you would need. It is a charming and beautiful home and setting.
We enjoyed a lovely stay at Hawks Nest - the house was clean, spacious and comfortable, with a great deck and beautiful views. Our family enjoyed bike riding, playing tennis, relaxing on the deck and taking our boat out for trips to the beach. We hope to return again soon!

Thank you Jenny, hope to host your family again at Hawks Nest!
The property is beautiful, house is well equipped. Melissa was very easy to contact and communicate with. We spent a week with our adult children and grandkids, the house is laid out in such a way that we all had our own space. Great place for a vacation!

It was a pleasure hosting Claudette and her family!
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving week staying at this charming home. It had plenty of room and the main living area and kitchen with water view was perfect. The history of the community and house added to the feel of a beloved home - with all the comforts of today. Communication with the owner was kind, caring, and much appreciated since we were arriving from California. A relaxing and delightful location.
Great time had by all! It appealed to ages 4 to 70 (our infants had a great time too but can’t really give an opinion yet :) ). Melissa was helpful and easy to communicate with, the property was outstanding with plenty to do, and location can’t be beat between marina and beach and close to great food. Would definitely stay again.

Amazing Family Spot
This is a very special spot. We came with our three kids, 6,5 & 1.5 as well as our sitter. The property is beautiful. The bedrooms were the perfect size and fit everyone comfortably. The beach was beautiful and my husband and I played a ton of golf and tennis. It was a true get away from the hustle and bustle of Chicago. We are already booked again for next summer. Didn't ever want to leave.

Thank you very much for taking the time to review the Hawks Nest! You must post a picture of your beautiful family for all to see :) See you again next year to celebrate Whitney's 6th birthday!
We had a fabulous time at this property. We spent a huge number of hours just being on the patio and watching and hearing birds. The house was very well kept. WE loved the tennis courts across the way. We had quite an age range but everyone ended up being very happy. Many thanks to Melissa who was an outstanding hostess.

Lynn, I remember you were so patient and understanding as we worked down the reservations "waiting list" last Fall. I'm very happy that you got your week and that everyone enjoyed the Hawks Nest!
This property has the charm of a beloved family beach house. The setting is beautiful, with a spectacular view of the water from the primary rooms where a family gathers: the kitchen, dining room, and living room. The master bedroom is large and has a water view, too.
The kitchen is large, clean, well-organized, and stocked with everything you would need. The bedrooms and bathrooms are nicely appointed as well. The home is an easy ride to terrific shops, towns, and restaurants. The property manager, Mrs. H, cares that you have a wonderful stay; we appreciate that! We will continue to fly from California to enjoy this Rhode Island getaway.
This property was amazing AND exactly as portrayed. It's an older but well cared for home with lots of updates to the kitchen and bathrooms. For us, 3 couples with some visiting adult children, it was perfect. The bedrooms are set up in wings, each with its own bathroom. Eat in kitchen and dining area were very spacious and the back deck which is located off of both, had nice seating for eating also. We brought our boat with us so the dock was very handy for clamming in Ninigret Pond.
Spacious, sunny kitchen with scenic views of salt pond, flowers and wildlife. Easy access from marina for 16 ft boat at this house dock. Two entertainment centers spaced apart gave different viewing options. Comfortable beds in each bedroom. Lots of room for my entire family. Our stay was first rate! The hawks nest is a very special place which was difficult to leave. Thank you for sharing it with us!

Thank you Laura for being our Guest at the Hawks Nest!
Location, Location, Location! The house is literally 5 minutes from the highway and you would never know it once on site. The tranquility and privacy of the home were some of the best I have experienced in my many rentals over the years. The kitchen was beautiful and well appointed, having 3 full bathrooms was a plus and overall there was enough space for 10 of us to not feel crowded with one another. Let's not forget the incredible views, good fishing and the FREE golf course just steps from the front door. Truly a unique property that I do hope to be back to in the future.

Perfect Vacation
My family rented this house for the first two weeks in August. The house was clean and well stocked with everything from cooking supplies to beach towels. Like other posters mentioned, the sprawling layout of the house allows everyone to have their own space. We had many visitors during our stay and never felt cramped. The view from the porch is amazing. Hummingbirds zoom by all day and the stars are so bright at night. The owner is very friendly and helpful. The house is located in a unique compound mostly made up of the same family. All of the neighbors were very welcoming. It was interesting to chat with them about the history of the area. The compound is very dog friendly and we had a lot of four legged visitors stop by to play. We brought at 19 ft. boat with us. It was very easy to launch at the marina down the street and we had no problem fitting at the dock. The private beach is a quick boat ride away. It really is a private paradise, we often had the beach to ourselves. If you prefer to travel by car, there are several nice ocean and pond beaches within 10 minutes of the house. Although you can't really swim right off the dock, there are plenty sandy parts of Ninigret pond to swim and wade in. All in all we had a wonderful time and would definitely rent again.
We had a wonderful time the house was so comfortable it was great weather it was beautiful our family had a great time we love staying there we definitely would stay again
Although my family stayed in this home in October, it is obviously a perfect place for a summer vacation. Located on Ninigret Pond (actually an inlet), just off Route 1, with a dock in a private housing area, the view from the deck is gorgeous, and the area peaceful. The house has everything you need to cook for a large group, including multiple ovens, a great outdoor grill, and more plates, silverware and pots than you'll ever need, including, of course, a lobster pot. The beds were wonderfully comfortable, and the loft would be perfect for kids. The old, rambling house has been added to over the years, and there are pictures and decorations from the family history. My niece commented that it was like staying in a family home. Plenty of room for a large group to eat and cook together. If you have a rainy day, there are puzzles and games to keep everyone occupied.
When you arrive, be sure to take inventory, as we purchased some things that were already there (paper plates, cutlery, etc.). This is a "use one, leave one" home, which is perfect when you only need a bit of mayo or a couple tablespoons of olive oil. There weren't a lot of spices, but most everything we needed was on hand.
Melissa was a great host, responding to all my questions promptly, and checking up to make sure we had everything we needed. Be aware you need to book WAY in advance if you want a summer spot.
The layout of the house was ideal for our group of extended family and one young child. The location near the South County attractions was ideal, and coming home each day to Ninigret pond and its amazing views and birds was perfect.
Blessed to have been able to spend a week at this fantastic home. The location is unique in a number of ways. As part of a private community it is very peaceful and private while offering plenty of nearby local attractions and activities. Lucky to meet some of the neighbors who couldn't have been nicer.
Walk out the front door and tee off on the private golf course or use the back door to the dock and on to the sandbar or private beach association. A well equipped kitchen and plenty of space for larger groups. Melissa is great. Truly magical place and highly recommended.
Our stay was incredible. We loved exploring the stunning property and the Charlestown area! Melissa is extremely kind and communicative. We cannot wait to come back!
Our inter generational gathering of 10 people loved the house, the furnishings, the location and our hostess’ attention. Cooking Thanksgiving fixings went very well. The children loved the loft space. The grandparents loved the master suite. No complaints from the others. We’d stay here again! Dinner at the Matunuck Oyster Bar is a must for seafood lovers!
Great house! After several years of renting houses, this is the first house we've wanted to return to. Large well-equipped kitchen with plenty of utensils, dishes, pots & pans, etc. AND a table that comfortably seats 6. There is also a large dining room with another large table, which we used for doing jigsaw puzzles, many of which are in the house. Four full bathrooms and 4 bedrooms (3 with king beds, 1 with a queen) plus a loft sleeping area provide more than enough room for an average family or 2 or a bunch of friends. Lots of towels were provided. Little amenities like reading lights next to almost all bedsides were present. The view of the pond is incredible and the 2 available kayaks were appreciated. The owner was very responsive to all communications. The absolutely only thing we missed was being able to swim in the water in front of the house.
My family was able to have four generations stay at this location. It has a fabulous view, amenities and location. We were able to dock our boat and two kayaks, and the house provided two additional kayaks. The sunrise and sunset views were phenomenal. Not to mention the private beach, golf course and tennis court available to us. We are extremely pleased with the hospitality and the house. Thank you again.
Thank you Melissa for a seamless rental! The HomeAway description of the property was spot on, but we were really extra pleased with the privacy and peacefulness. The inside has lots of space and was well furnished. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen and dining room were spacious. Outside, the large deck was a real treat for eating or hanging out. The dock was perfect for launching the two provided kayaks to explore Ninigret Pond, best undertaken in the early morning. Good times.
Tranquil mornings and peaceful nights with plenty of space on the patio for the whole group to gather. Bedrooms and bathrooms aplenty for your group or family gathering. Lots of eclectic charm throughout the house. Located just a short drive from beautiful Blue Shutters Beach and Ninigret park. Ice Cream, bakery and deli also near by for last minute items, Our family and friends totally enjoyed our holiday weekend escape at Hawk's Nest and would recommend it to any group looking for a beautiful getaway from the every day.

Though recently relocated to Fort Mill, South Carolina, I still consider myself a Rhode Islander, having raised my daughter in South Kingtown over the past twenty years. Growing up in the mid-West and New York, every summer my siblings and I were piled into the family station wagon with our cats and dogs to drive the long distance to visit our grandparents at this house here in Charlestown. More than just a rental property-- this is a family home that we are happy to share with you!
Why they chose this property
