We stayed for a week in July. The owners were kind and helpful, but in the description it said it was a 10 minute walk to Matunuk Oyster Bar and it was much further than that. The beds were hard and we had to go buy sheets. For the price we paid we thought it was going to be better equipped for our stay.

Thank you for this feedback. In response to your comments:
- One of the beds has a brand new memory foam mattress, which tend to be more firm. If we knew of a mattress that was universally liked by all people, of course we would buy it. This is personal preference.
- Since the COVID pandemic, we have found that guests prefer to bring their own bed linens. We clearly state in the listing description to please bring your own linens. We would have been happy to provide this guest with linens, if asked.
- Matunuck Oyster Bar is not far from our cottage. Time of walking there would depend on which way was taken, there is a short-cut but we were not asked about the best route.
- Our cottage rental pricing is in-line with the South County RI coastal market.
- The cottage has a recently renovated kitchen and bathroom, with a brand new sofa and some chairs, and sleeps 4 people comfortably.

Very Relaxing and Comfortable Place to Stay
My boyfriend and I had a somewhat last minute bright idea to get one last stay in at the beach before Labor Day. We rented this lovely place in East Matunuck,, and we really had a very nice stay here. Some of the highlights: The place was clean and comfortable and cozy. It has a really nice 'beachy' feel to it with the wooden floorboards. The pictures represent it accurately, and the breeze coming through the house was divine. We had everything we needed in the kitchen, and it was a great home base for us. We borrowed the owners bikes to get to the beach and back on a few days and cooked out using the BBQ a couple of times. We enjoyed great food at the Matunuck Oyster Bar (smoked bluefish was outta sight!), George's of Galilee, the local fish market (which we grilled) and a few other nearby locations. We used it as a home base for seeing the local area and taking the ferry over to Block Island to rent mopeds for the day. I'd add that having the stereo, record player, and iPod connection at the rental was stupendous. We found a local radio station out of Newport at 105.9 on the dial called WXHQ which only has a 3 mile broadcast range and it was really something. Too bad they don't stream online! Anyway, this place was a great find and well worth the price. It's no frills which was just fine by us and we would definitely stay here again. The owners we very hospitable and helpful whenever needed. Great beach experience overall!
We had a perfect week in Rhode Island. The cottage is biking distance or a short drive to the state beach and near many restaurants. It's a short 30 minute drive to Newport which we recommend. The cottage is very clean and cute. Just a note, there is no AC but fans are provided for the windows in the bedrooms which made it very comfortable for sleeping. A few extra fans for the front room would be nice, as well as blinds so that a child could sleep there. It would be hard with a family of 4 who had kids who didn't want to share the bed. We were in town to visit family, so the cottage was a perfect landing spot for us.

I have only good memories and good things to say about our holiday there
My wife and I had a wonderful stay at the Summer Street Cottage. Our stay was really enjoyable because
-we were made so welcome by our hosts
-the cottage was so charming while being so comfortable
-nothing was too much trouble for our hosts
-the weather was so good!
-the cottage is so well sited, being near several beaches and near shops and attractions while being remote at the same time!
-our hosts were always ready with good ideas and advice but never seemed to be there when we wanted to be on our own
-we felt we could fit into the local community and got to know the people at the fish shop a short walk away, for example
- being able to buy fish as it came out of the sea was a wonderful experience.
-our hosts also made us feel like part of their family without being there when we wanted to be alone
Truthfully I cannot think of anything that we did not like and we hope to return this year. I am very happy to give the Summer Street Cottage five stars and would give them more if I could. If they have dates that suit you make a booking, you will have a wonderful stay.

About the host
Hosted by Nick Atocha
We are New England beach lovers who have rented in the area since 2000. In the summer of 2011 we found the perfect property to purchase that allowed us to create what we had been looking for in a rental, while also live next door! We are more than happy to share the discoveries we have come across over the years to visitors new and old to visiting Rhode Island.
Why they chose this property
We love the location in Snug Harbor / East Matunuck, with so many options and activities to keep busy and stay creative. The cottage is clean, spacious, close to beaches, marinas, restaurants and boating. Snug Harbor is a wonderful neighborhood for bike riding and always great for relaxing and enjoying the salty ocean air.
What makes this property unique
Extremely convenient location, close to numerous beaches, fresh ocean air, fresh seafood, local fruit and vegetables from farm stands and a slowed-down pace. There are numerous children's camps in the area, providing nautical activities and fun outdoor events. Most of all, close to numerous Rhode Island beaches!
