North Shore Timber Retreat! Minutes To Town! Acres of Privacy!

Just 3 miles from City of Duluth, 3/4 mile from Lake Superior, near many rivers, & sight seeing areas along the North Shore. Perfect for your family get togethers. Very family friendly! Over the river and through the woods...

Appreciate all the comfortable features and relax and enjoy close proximity to the North Shore & sightseeing and yet only a few minutes from the City of Duluth for groceries, gas, etc! You will appreciate the rustic natural wood timbers, stone/tile & the heart of an authentic log cabin. The living room has a Danish wood burning soapstone fireplace. The formal dining room has 2 tables that will seat up to 12 people with the option of heated tiled floor. The main floor also has a bedroom and a hand crafted stone tiled bathroom.

All 3 levels each have a tiled bath & bedroom(s). Master bedroom offers a queen bed accommodates a guest bedroom suite which also features a queen size bed (accessed w/french doors from master bedroom) & access to an en-suite tiled bath w/a Beautiful tiled walk-in shower & also an elegant deep soaking tub. The lower level walkout has 3 bedrooms (2 queens & a king) & access to walk-in tiled shower bathroom. Cotton sheets and comfy beds with majority windows with room darkening curtains! The exterior features a large covered deck with grill and tables for dining and looks out onto the private property surrounded by trees.

The property has a gentle slope. You may see deer on the property or evidence of them frolicking in the yard while you were out skiing or sightseeing.

The property is not located on Lake Superior, but is less than a mile from the McQuade Safe Harbor/Boat launch on Lake Superior.

High speed internet!

**This property is not handicapped accessible & there are many steps that lead up to the house from the parking area. However, for people who have difficulties walking, there is additional parking w/close proximity to the Timber Cottage (you can park in the drive way that is close to house). The remainder of parking is located where it requires a longer walk up to the house with many steps.

Setting of property is breathtaking! Nestled in a hill on acreage in wooded area about a mile off of Highway 61. Loren, the owner, was very accommodating and answered all of our questions quickly. The house is well-equipped and very clean. Our group of seven girlfriends had a very enjoyable stay and will be coming back next year.

Excellent location and fantastic property. Host were excellent- great personalities and communication. Property was as described and pictured, was a great time for our family reunion. Comfortably slept 10 adults, just a couple of privacy concerns if not related or extremely conservative (need to pass through another sleep area to use bathrooms on upper/lower floors. Great time!

Extremely clean beautiful home. Very comfortable climate controlled rooms. The oversized covered balcony was the highlight and accommodated our extended family perfectly for morning coffee and other meals. I can’t say enough good things about our stay, we enjoyed it thoroughly! Communication with the host was extremely easy and prompt. The property was in perfect proximity to all of the activities we wanted to do and sights we wanted to see along the North Shore as well as in the city of Duluth.

Amazing home in a sublime forest setting. We had 3 families with adult children, and the configuration was perfect with 5 bedrooms and extra beds. The outdoor tables and chairs were plentiful and so cosy. We used the Blackstone outdoor grill a ton, and it worked great for eggs, hash-browns, pancakes… we also had nightly fires by the fire pit, and loved the fireflies, the sound of the water from the creek, and the howl of coyote/wolves. We had our bikes and enjoyed the awesome trails north on the Scenic drive, and south to Duluth. A Thankful for all the work that went into making this a beautiful stay in a gorgeous setting.

What a wonderful place to stay! Highly recommend this lovely home. From the fireplace to the log interior, everything you could possibly need in the kitchen and a long table to seat 10. Celebrated our brother’s 80th birthday and had a great time.

We have enjoyed the journey of transforming an authentic log cabin & crafting a creative 4 bedroom, 3 bath timber home. We have used natural wood, timbers, stone, and tile together to create a 'natural living environment'.

Why they chose this property

We built it with a vision of bringing together a warm environment. Situated in a tranquil & natural setting surrounded by trees, seasonal stream, with lots of natural products used in the building process- stone, tile, hand crafted plaster and reclaimed fir timbers.

What makes this property unique

The large open and covered deck area has 2+ picnic tables and some chairs for outside dining, propane grill, and a beautiful view of the natural environment! Enjoy the peaceful setting of nature, seasonal meandering stream around the property, lots of nature, and only a few skips away from the North Shores of Lake Superior.
