3 Br Lakefront Cottage on Beautiful Sandy Beach Lake Missaukee

Inviting cottage on a dead end road. The cottage is on the south side of Lake Missaukee which is very quiet and all sandy beaches.

Expansive front room full of windows overlooking the lake from a high bluff. Some features include, high speed Wi-Fi, full kitchen with island, dining room, 2 queen beds, 1 bunk bed, 1 futon, Weber gas grill, forced air heat, ceiling or box fans in every room, washer/dryer, fire pit with Adirondacks, and dock.

No parties/events. Our property can accommodate 8 guests (5 adults maximum). Day time visitors must be limited to 4 additional people and additional overnight guests are not permitted.

Dock and Boat: Dock is free to use but the boat is not available for use. The owner reserves the right to use boat at any point with access from east beach only.

Great week away!

We loved our stay here. We had plans to go on some day trips but cancelled all of them because of how much we enjoyed the stay.The rooms were clean and main living area was perfect for our kids to run around and relax.We LOVED being able to walk down to the beach and play multiple times a day. We look forward to coming back again!

This house had great views of the lake, beautiful and peaceful. You can fish right off the dock and catch a variety of fish. The beach was somewhat shallow but it got deep enough for swimming which was perfect for our 6 year old. Hosts were very helpful and responded immediately to any questions we had. We definitely plan on staying here again.

Nice house. Great view of water. However, no room to park, no room to bring in a trailer for outdoor leisure, neighbors are very inconsiderate when it comes to trying to get it or leave due to having to park right in middle of street.

Great view of the lake. Nicely maintained house. Front bedrooms where a bit stuffy at night with no air conditioning. Was a bit taken aback with having to strip beds and put in washer when $150 cleaning fee is charged.

Quiet dead end house with great beach

Had a great time! House is at the end of quiet dead end road. Beach is very nice. This property is on the calm side of the lake. House has everything you need to cook inside and out. House had no A/C but owner has plenty of fans around and open windows to a nice evening breeze. Newer appliances work great. Large great room for everyone to hang out with in evening. We’re there 5 nights and enjoyed every one. Only negative if there is one is that the house only has 1 bath, but we worked around it. Would stay again!!

Beautiful view

Cute house, well stocked and lots of potential for a family looking to have a gathering. Our stay wasn't as we expected, The weather was rainy and chilly the whole stay and we had to stay inside most of the time. We had quite a few family members pass through for about a half hour and I was contacted immediately upon their arrival; which means you are watched very carefully. They do allow pets which is nice but make sure to take pictures when you arrive because there is staining in the carpets. There is no seating around the fire pit so you have to bring your own and I believe there are more devices watching you than just the outside camera hidden in the top corner of the house. The neighbors when they did come home watched us out their window the whole time and made us uncomfortable. All in all it served our purpose for far away relatives to meet up but weather kept is all inside.

We very much appreciate all of our guests, and it's nice to hear that you enjoyed the home and view. I do need to clear up some things from this review for future guests. Our neighbors are very respectful and kind to our guests. There is absolutely zero cameras or listening devices at the home. The home is not available for parties. Pets are allowed after paying a pet fee and must be managed well. There are 8+ beach chairs (as pictured) in the beach shed for guests to use. The author of this review hosted a loud party late at night with 14+ people, and had no less than three animals without paying a pet fee. The property simply can't hold that many people due to parking and restroom availability. This frustrated our very kind neighbors, and they informed us of the event. Also, our cleaning team charged us double due to cat urine and litter spread around the upstairs loft, while neighbors complained about dog waste outside. This all could have been avoided if any of the 14+ guests had read our one page Welcome Letter & Guidelines (or the listing), which I sent via VRBO and email prior to the stay.

So Disappointed

Owner is nice and responsive. However, for the money, I would’ve expected a lot more. There is black mold growing all over the side of the freezer door. There were ants everywhere, especially in the kitchen. (We we’re VERY clean with our food and always immediately cleaned up). Multiple times we would have ants crawling on us. The giant rat trap right by the entry door, nice traps, and ant traps are very off putting, not to mention extremely unsafe with a baby and small dog. Be prepared to spend the majority of your morning cleaning your beach of all the food pop before you can even walk on it. I was hesitant to even let my child play in the water or sand - it was disgusting and worrisome about the health risks of animal feces all over. (I’m a Registered Nurse and my husband works for the DNR) We cleaned an orange scum ring out of the tub ourselves before we would put out baby in it. I wish I could upload the pictures I took. So very disappointed. We left early

We are so sorry that your stay was filled with so many letdowns. We take this very seriously and have used this to make some changes. 1. Bath cleanliness, more aggressive cleaning for our service along with snaking of the drain which our cleaning service pointed to as root cause. 2. Ants and traps, we have asked Orkin to extend treatment to outside of home, because clearly inside only treatment isn't getting the job done. The traps are all inactive and preventive only, we will remove prior to future stays. 3. Freezer, we went on site recently and checked this. We couldn't find evidence of this, but have asked this to be a special point of cleaning going forward. 4. Beach, we implemented a meticulous beach rototilling and raking program in 2022. It is rare, but during a guest stay, some of the wildlife (ducks in this case) make some Lake beaches their brief home in the mornings. This does require spot cleaning by a guest. Again, it is rare and usually limited to a specific week. I'm looking into legal ways to minimize this. Again, very sorry, and we will continue to use your feedback to improve guest experience going forward.

Coffee on the dock for sunrise. Kayaking, fishing, swimming, and sand toys all day long. Campfire and s'mores for sunset. Rinse and repeat. We had a great weekend here and would definitely stay again.

Perfect Family Getaway

We had a wonderful time up at this lake house, my only complaint is that we didn't stay longer! The view was beautiful & we loved being at the quiet end of the lake with our own beach. Amenities like a crib & high chair made it super easy to travel with our 1.5 year old. My parents already booked for a week next summer & we already can't wait to go back!

The lake is clear and clean with a sandy beach. Minimal boat traffic, so it's pretty quiet. Owners were responsive and helpful. Cottage is modest and clean. Town of Lake City doesn't really have much to offer in way of shops or restaurants, so be prepared to cook and relax in the cottage.
