About this property

New Cabin for Wine Country Wanderers

Please note that this is a sister property to The Albert, VRBO # 1867297. They both sit on the same acre of land but they have very different vibes and separate entrances.
This adorable cabin was once a mere hunting shack which had been long ago abandoned. It has been lovingly restored and truly reimagined as a tiny home for couples looking to unplug and reconnect with each other. The focus of this property is on comfort, not cooking, but the artsy kitchenette and outdoor grill allow for preparation of a romantic meal. It has a refrigerator, large industrial sink, cutting surface, coffee maker, two burner hot plate, toaster, multiple basic kitchen utensils, along with a full array of glassware, dishes, and cuttlery. The luxurious bedroom, upscale bathroom with dual shower heads, and wrap around private deck facing open fields are the real draw here. This is a suite to fit the most discerning guests with no expense spared in terms of decor and attention to detail. Relax inside on the luscious California King bed or lounge in the sitting area on generous leather chairs. If the weather is nice (which it usually is!) spend time out on the grand L shaped deck which is almost as large as the cabin itself. Enjoy the lovely rural vista of the working hay farm behind you. Take in the wide open space of the field on which this cabin sits and the special sunsets that fall over the road. Listen to the music drift over from the Albert Icehouse and Dancehall as you enjoy a glass of your favorite beverage with your companion in the comfort of Adirondack chairs. And most of all, use the cabin as the hub for all of your convenient hill country travel ideas whether it's touring wineries, engaging with local historical attractions, or just shopping and seeing friends. As with the main house, I designed this cabin for myself so please know it is special indeed. I hope you enjoy it as much as we have.

Perfect stay in the HIll Country
This was the cutest cabin and the location just across from Albert Icehouse was exactly what we wanted. The cabin was cozy and comfortable and had everything we wanted. The owner was so helpful on text and made everything so easy. WE will be back to stay here again!!!

Run--don't walk--to this gem of a getaway!
My wife and I chose this gorgeous cabin for a romantic weekend in the Hill Country, and it greatly exceeded our expectations! Aesthetically, it was a wonderful contrast of beloved antiques and ultramodern conveniences. It's obvious the owners put a lot of thought and effort into making it beautiful. The VRBO photos, though pretty, really don't do it justice. The furniture was comfortable, and the bed brought my best sleep in ages. The double shower was a great convenience--no waiting in line! Although I didn't do any cooking, I could see the kitchenette was well-equipped. With the double hot plate and the utensils provided, I would have been able to make most anything from among my favorite recipes. The location has a lot going for it as well. Our favorite wineries (Pedernales Cellars, Adega Vinho, and Cicada Cellars) are just a couple of miles away in Stonewall, and of course there are LOTS of wineries lining the highway into Fredericksburg (more than 50 in the area!). The LBJ State Park and Sauer-Beckmann living history farm are equally close. Should you happen to want to "get back to the basics of love," Luckenbach, Texas is less than 15 miles away down scenic country roads. Closer at hand--just across the road--is Albert, Texas, itself home to a dance hall and an ice house ("bar" would be a proper designation for the latter). That's great night life within walking distance! I could go on and on, but then I'd be keeping you from booking this little bit of Hill Country paradise!

I live in Austin and discovered Albert, Texas in 2018 on the way to get our kids from camp. The sign in the Albert Icehouse read "Albert, Texas Population 4." I remarked "Wow, population 4!" to which the bartender replied "That's before those people moved," as he pointed to the home across the street. Well across the street was a well built ranch home in need of a little love. And the rest, as they say, is history. I bought the home in late 2018, remodeled it through half of 2019, and began enjoying it and renting it to travelers. Then in late 2020 I finally got to work on the passion project of restoring the little hunting shack on the property to a useable space. My pandemic timing was not the greatest but it is what it is and it was finally completed in the early fall of 2021. I am so happy with how it turned out, all things considered, and I cannot wait for you to enjoy it.

Why they chose this property

This property is unlike any other you will find in the Hill Country. It is uniquely situated, uniquely beautiful, and affords the special opportunity to truly get away from the hustle bustle and information overload many of us have to deal with every day. It is owner managed and I take great care of my guests. I am honest and humane in my dealings with people and have been from the start through pandemic-related cancellations, acts of God like Snowmageddon, or true family emergencies. I treat people as I would want to be treated. Period.
