Stunning, newly renovated condos nestled at the base of the sand dunes, offering the perfect blend of comfort and coastal charm. With the nearest public beach access just 0.8 miles down the street, enjoying the shoreline couldn’t be easier. Step inside to a fully equipped kitchen, then unwind on the front, rear, or side decks while your family explores the nearby dunes. Conveniently located near Pirate’s, the island’s favorite restaurant, and just a short drive to Dauphin Island’s best beaches!
The Space:
Enjoy your private balcony complete with patio furniture, perfect for relaxing outdoors. A stackable washer and dryer is conveniently located in a closet on the deck for easy access. Just half a mile away (about a 15-minute walk), you'll find Pirates Beach, a great restaurant, and a pool—everything you need for the perfect island getaway!
Guest Access:
You can take a scenic walk over the dunes to reach the water, though it's a bit far for carrying beach gear. The nearest public beach access is just 0.8 miles down the street for easy shoreline access. This unit is part of a four-plex building, offering a comfortable and convenient stay on the island!
The Neighborhood:
The 164-acre Audubon Bird Sanctuary is just down the road. The sanctuary is a well-known destination for birdwatchers in search of one of the hundreds of species that live in and migrate through the sanctuary year-round, such as herons and pelicans. Visitors can take a walking tour though the palmetto palms where they can experience the birds in the lush native flora and fauna of the island.
The Mobile Bay Ferry is located just a short drive away. The ferry, which departs every hour and a half during the day, transports passengers to the historic Fort Morgan located in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
Just past the ferry is a popular boat launch on the island, where anglers launch their boats sunrise to sundown. Boat trailer parking for the boat launch can be tricky, especially during summer months, so Alvarado’s close proximity to the launch makes it an ideal location for anglers because of the extended boat parking offered to guests. Each unit can accommodate one boat trailer in addition to their parking.
The Dauphin Island Estuarium, an aquarium that is home to more than 100 different species of native Alabama marine life, and the historic Fort Gaines, where you can find guided tours of the 1821 fort that protected Mobile Bay during the Civil War, are both located within one mile of the property as well. There are three public beaches on Dauphin Island — the East End Public Beach, Bienville Beach and the West End Public Beach.
With the almost dozen restaurants and snack bars on the island, there’s no shortage of local fare and fresh seafood. Almost every menu on the island serves up the freshest seafood in the South, including freshly caught snapper, grouper, oysters and crab. During the summer there are outdoor movies shown on the West End of the island, and the Dauphin Island Fishing Rodeo during July brings more than 75,000 spectators to the island for a weekend of fun and sports fishing.
Even though the island is small (it’s only 14 miles long and less than 2 miles wide or less, in some areas), it offers an endless amount of activities for vacationers, including an 18-hole golf course and endless water activities. Boat, jet ski, stand-up-paddleboard and kayak rentals are available, as well as sunset cruises and beach access to most of the 17 miles of powder, white sand beaches that wrap around the island. These offerings, in addition to deep-sea fishing and diving, make this Gulf Coast sanctuary one of the top destinations for those looking to escape the crowds and enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the Gulf.
We hope you enjoy your stay and enjoy exploring the beautiful Alabama Gulf Coast during your visit!
Getting Around:

Clean, comfortable, well decorated condo with well stocked kitchen. Quiet neighborhood and close to the public beach and restaurants. Overall great place to stay!
Easy booking, easy comunication, great furnishing, mid island location not on a busy road. Great bed. Loved eveything about it. The steps were a challage packing in, but we needed that after the hibernation period in the North. The weather was a bit windy as expected, but great! Rode our bikes many places. Visited many wonderful things. Beach access was a ways from the place, but expected that. The island is working on the middle beach I think, that would be closer to this condo. All in all the place, location, amenities and furnishing were great for us. I would love to take your kitchen home! Thank you!
Overall this was an excellent place to stay. Condo was very clean and located conveniently to everything on the island. Would definitely stay here again.

So happy you enjoyed your stay, we would love to have you back!
We were not very excited at the fact that we wouldn’t be directly on the water, but this condo exceeded our expectations, and it turned out to be one of our favorite trips. The dunes were fun to explore also!
We had an excellent stay at this condo! Great location, modern beachy furniture, very family friendly. This is our second stay with this host and I can’t recommend them enough!

We absolutely love the condo. The island is great and your binder helps a new person figure out where to go. We visited twice in less than a year and we plan to be back.
The property was very nice, exactly like the pictures. We thought we were going to be on the beach but after reading the description again, we realized we were only on a sand dune near the beach. The location was perfect, conveniently located to the beaches and the best restaurants. This was our first time in Dauphin Island and would def go back to this condo!
We had peaceful getaway to Dauphin Island. The unit had everything we needed to be comfortable. The location was convenient to all that this quaint island has to offer. We especially appreciated the binder of local businesses, eateries and attraction that the host provided. We visited the public beaches and Fort Gaines. We hope to visit Dauphin Island again and would happily stay in this unit again.
We were only the 2nd renters of this property so everything is clean and new. Communication with property manager was easy with prompt replies. It is conveniently located off of the main road. The decor is very nice. Kitchen is pretty well stocked with necessary cooking supplies and dishes.
This was a comfortable place to stay. The only issue at all is that information in the location said I should wash towels and such, but the only laundry service there was locked. I don't know if it was an error with the VRBO app, but all attempts to contact the host gave error messages. We would still stay again if we are ever in the area.
Our 1st trip to dauphin island. We won’t be back. There is nothing there Went on valentines so none of the restaurants would serve us due to no reservations. Had to drive over an hour to eat Both days we were there had to drive away to eat The place we stayed was nice just didn’t care for dauphin island
This property is a gem. Our family felt very comfortable with enough room for privacy, generous amenities, and a welcoming, homey environment for meals, games, and movies. The decor is tasteful, clean, modern, beach house. The wrap around deck and chairs made for beautiful evenings watching the sunset, listening to crickets, and stargazing. The sand dune access so close to the house is special but the only way the location can be improved is if was beach accessible. Dauphin Island is car dependent, so we were prepared to drive to a nearby beach.
Outstanding property with unique features to make your stay at Dauphin Island comfortable and memorable.

Sorry about that. We have since removed all coffee from our units and ask guests to bring that if they desire. We also made sure our cleaners were going in after each guest and cleaning those out!
Reservations were easy. Property was as presented. Check in was no hassle at all. Only issue was the primary bedroom mattress being more firm than I prefer.
Check in/out process was easy. House was nice and clean. We were a family of 7 who stayed here and were not cramped on space at all. We did only have 3 towels in the bathroom but when we did a load of laundry on the third day found more in the dryer. No beach access at the condo but nice spot on sand dunes to sit and watch the sunrise or sunset. Surrounded by public beach access points with a short drive. Conveniently located by Pirates Bar and Grill which we found to have the best food around. No complaints other than neighbors being a little loud outside the last night we were there and stealing the chair off our side of the deck lol
Everything we needed for a relaxing and fun weekend
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The condo was clean, attractive and comfortably furnished and the property is in a nice, family friendly location. We were able to walk .4 miles to Pirate's bar and grill for meals. Easy drive to the Aquarium and Fort Gaines. We will definitely book again. Great host!
