Lakeview Retreat - Detour - with Private Dock/ Fire Pit
Welcome to our little piece of paradise on the St Mary’s River. This is an all seasons house with a lot of space inside and outside to enjoy all the spectacular views and activities on the water. The property has a dock you can anchor your boat and/or your jet skis. Kayaking and SUP are a must do while visiting. Fishing (summer and winter) can be enjoyed on the dock or the solid ice in the winter time. If you are looking for a quiet getaway, you have found the right place. The house is not located on Drummond Island.
The Garage is currently off limits to guest, but we hope to offer it soon as we further prepare our home. There is also an owner closet which is locked for your safety.
The kitchen is furnished for cooking full meals if you like. The bedrooms have a variety of mattresses from medium to firm, with comfortable bedding, and extra blankets. You should be able to find a bed to suit your sleeping style.
The concrete driveway in front of the garage is the only parking available. It will fit three cars very comfortably, and possibly four depending on vehicle size.
There is a spot for a boat/ATV trailer just to the right of the garage. Please back your trailer into this space. Do not use this space for other vehicles.
The boat dock suffered damage last year due to high water. The walking surfaces are missing from the side, but you can still use it for docking your boat. We recommend launching kayaks in the shallow water just to the left of the dock. The area is rocky and water shoes will keep you comfortable.
The bay was dredge many years ago to allow boat access to the homes around the bay. The deeper water is easy to spot as the reeds do not grow there. The water inside our boat dock , as well as the channels within the bay are 6-10 feet deep. The nearest boat launch is in Detour which you can use for a small fee. When entering the bay and while using the channels, you must adhere to a strict "No Wake" speed.

We had a great time. The weather was cold and raony but there was plenty of room to hang out and create memories! Very fun, well taken care of, and super friendly hosts whonare quick to answer questions.
This house has a beautiful view from a wonderful deck. We appreciated the quality outdoor furniture. The house had plenty of room for our family gathering. Jason and Maria were quick to answer our questions.
The house is spacious, clean, and offers several beautiful views, great place to unwind. Close to the Drummond Island ferry. Check in/out is very simple. Owners communication was great. Would definitely rent again!
The property is a great location. The house is so nicely laid out. Plenty of room for all of us (11total) and room for our atvs trucks and boat. The beds are very comfortable. The kitchen was nicely stocked. The owners were easy to get ahold of and quick to respond. Wonderful place to stay. Everyone in our party votes to come back here again.
We had a great time. It was nice with plenty of room and comfy beds. Easey way to disconnect from outside world. Beautiful views of sunsets and wildlife. I would definitely recommend renting the canoes. And make sure you stock up on provisions as it is limited in this small sleepy town.
Our group of 12 stayed for the week and really enjoyed the privacy and the views. It would have been nice to have a spot for the kids to swim. The area near the dock was too weedy. We were able to go to a nearby roadside beach on Lake Huron that was beautiful. Also enjoyed day trips to the Soo locks, Drummond Island, and into Cedarville for lunch/drinks at the distillery on a rainy day. Overall, it was a very nice place to stay.
The house was perfect for our stay! Nice large kitchen and well stocked. Two separate wings with three bedrooms each worked really well for us. While we couldn’t use the dock for our boats, the DNR launch was nearby. We had plenty of room to park our 2 boats across the road. The deck offered amazing views. Download the Marine Traffic app and you can see when the freighters will go by. Thanks Jason and Maria!
We were barely here an hour before we started scheming on how we could stay a few days longer... or Forever honestly. This is such a beautiful and peaceful place! We have never been so relaxed. Most of our time was spent kayaking and fishing. So roomy and spacious .
We will definitely be back!

Our stay was really great. Nine adults and an 8-month old baby fit just perfect in the rooms, with lots of room to spare. It had easy access to the water for kayaking and fishing, and not too far from a nice golf course for the golf players. The kitchen was amazing in its size, layout and all the dishes, pots, pans, etc. needed. Lots of yard to play yard games and watch sunsets.
It was more than we anticipated, and we would not hesitate to stay again, IF it would be available. A gem like this will soon be booked all season long.
Nice stay host was great communicator. Metal chairs at kitchen table very uncomfortable. Otherwise beds fine. TV and Living area separate from kitchen. Not open concept. Could use TV down in dining room for sport games on TV nice location distance to restaurants though.
I can’t say enough good things about this property! It is everything that is advertised and more. Each night we thought the sunsets couldn’t get any better, but they did! The layout of the house is great, with plenty of room for everyone to relax, play games or watch TV. We spent A LOT of time relaxing on the back deck with a beautiful view of the bay. There is a nice spot right next to the dock to put kayaks in and explore the bay, or do some fishing. It is just few minutes from the ferry to Drummond Island, or to the beaches along Lake Huron. All communication with the hosts was amazing! Very friendly, helpful and promoting their responses! We are already planning a return trip! Don’t hesitate, book this place!!!
Nice spacious house with plenty of room for our family group. My brother brought a fishing boat and there is a nice protected dock for small boats. The kids had a blast catching frogs and letting them go. The kitchen is well stocked. You need to buy ice ( we couldn’t find ice trays) . Plenty of dishes. A new , larger non stick skillet would be nice. For the beach, water shoes are a good idea. Nice deck and yard with a firepit and there are plenty of places around to buy firewood. Nice quiet relaxing spot.
The house was a perfect place to stay for our jeeping weekend. The location made it quick and easy to get to Drummond Island for the day plus the house was clean, spacious and comfortable!
Great home for family getaway. Spacious kitchen made meal prep easy as everyone could pitch in. Beds were comfortable and home came well stocked with everything you may need!
