The camp was very convenient for us and the kids had a great time in the water. The description said we would share the dock with the next door camp but we thought it was rather inconvenient to have to walk in front of where they were sitting to get access. Fortunately the renters were very nice and said they didn’t mind. The camp could have been cleaner when we first got there. Biggest problem was the oven cooking things very quickly so we had to watch everything closely so they didn’t burn.

Lovely Cottage

This lovely cottage is situated very close to the lake. The cottage was comfortably furnished, with a large sitting/living area and a full kitchen. It was so pleasant to eat our meals overlooking the water. It may be helpful to know that the two upstairs bedrooms are not separated by a closing door. This was fine for our family but might not be right for folks who want total privacy. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay - beautiful sunsets, swimming, many water birds to watch.

2/10 Terrible

The host was terrible. We got to the property after a 3 hour drive to find the host there. Yes she was meeting someone there to plant trees. Couldn't this have been done when someone wasn't renting. She tells us not to talk to the neighbors. I feel I should be able to talk to whoever I want to talk to. Very odd. Then we put the air conditioners in for her. It was very hot. The bedroom upstairs was 90. Only to have her text the next morning to say to keep the air conditioners off during the day. We paid good money to stay at your place and there's a time limit to use the air conditioner. We used it anyways because it was hot and in the upper 80's. So back to the first day we got there which was around 2:00. She ended up going swimming and canoeing and didn't leave until 11:00. I know it's her property, but again we are renting it. No privacy. The rest of our stay was okay. We enjoy fishing on that lake. Then the final morning of our stay she texted me and asked if we would take the bedding off the beds before we left. She was having someone come in to clean up. So not only can't we talk to the neighbors, we can't use the air conditioning during the day and you want us to take the bedding off the beds. Haha. I think she owes us some money. Of course we didn't take the bedding off. You know my buddy and I are 70 years old. We came up there to relax and do some fishing. We will not be booking there again and not recommending the place to anybody else.

This is quite a scathing review simply because you didn’t read the property rules which clearly states there are 2 buildings that share the dock, and the provided recreational boats. Your comfort and ease at the property is important. In order to reach the comfort that you and I both expect you to have at the property, your responsibility is to read the property rules. While one might understand not seeing the property rules on the site when you booked, you missed personal messages to you on the site stating 2 buildings are on the property, missed seeing this in the rental agreement to which you stated agreement, and missed yet a 4th opportunity with the check in information sent. Yet you knew you needed to go under the other building to get things and you verbally expressed shock to me stating, “What? you own that building too?” Simple inference would have led one to that conclusion. Also included in the rental agreement and the check in information were the check out details which includes stripping the beds and leaving things as clean as you found it. All renters receive a follow up check out reminder as well, pretty standard fare in my experience as a VRBO guest. You claim the host was there when you arrived however you checked in on Monday, but the host arrived on late Tuesday afternoon to meet the young man hired to plant bushes and trees donated and delivered by the local lake association. He was only available to help for about 1 hour so considering that it’s a big property with lots of space to hang out, it is strange that you are complaining about your lack of privacy. It was helpful for you to offer to put the AC units in as I have lifting restrictions and prior to your arrival it had been a cold and rainy Spring. In turn I offered early check in 2 hours early and a late check out. The AC cools the rooms in 5 mins so it makes sense to turn it off when out fishing for the entire day. While you are not a bundle of enthusiasm nor positivity, our conversation was pleasant enough. You liked the property and the lake. I do not feel that I deserved such a scathing review due to you neglecting to read property rules and in turn having expectations the didn’t match what the property offers. But at least you caught plenty of fish!
