About this property
"Not-A-Pine Lane COTTAGE" is a family treasure enjoyed by generations
Awakening to the call of loons and ending your days with beautiful sunsets. Enjoy afternoon sun from our west facing cottage. The cottage on the lake on Not-A-Pine is a family treasure enjoyed by generations. Nestled in the woods at the end of the road, the cottage surrenders to relaxing water views on the east shore of the lake. Set back from the edge of the lake by approximately 60 feet, with 150 feet of your own private shore-front, swimming can be enjoyed right in front of the cottage. There is a dock where you can "park" your boat, fish, or launch a kayak. Plus you have access to a swim float!
This is the opportunity to spend quality time hanging out with family and friends. The living room overlooks the lake where you can have a fire in the fireplace, read, relax, and play board games. The cottage sleeps six people; the master bedroom has a double bed, the second bedroom has a set of twins, and a there is a futon in the living room. There is a newly remodeled full bath. You can enjoy your meals inside or outside the cottage on the deck, with a full kitchen and gas grill to make dining enjoyable for everyone. See you at the lake :)
Quietly situated between the advantages of Augusta and the incredible coastlines of the mid-coastal region of Maine, the China Lake region keeps hustle and bustle at a calm and cool level. This is an exceptionally tranquil area of Maine with rolling hills, picturesque farms, crystal clear lakes, ponds and streams, and bustling small towns. Fishing is excellent in the China Lakes region where you can fish for landlocked salmon, small mouth bass and white perch.
A bit of folklore is the "Indian Heart Rock," or "Sacred Heart," that is carved near the base of a boulder on the shore in South China. Legend has it that an Indian carved the heart into the stone out of the tribes religious devotions so that it would last through the ages. Other outdoor fun off the lake includes hiking, biking, picnicking, white water rafting, antiquing, and sightseeing along Maine's historic, picturesque country roads.

Perfect camp experience on a beautiful lake. The camp is comfortable, clean, rustic, perfect. The grounds are beautiful, fun to explore around the house as well as relax lakeside. We were easily able to dock a boat for the week, as well. Amazing experience and incredibly kind host. Thanks for everything, Tiffany!

We appreciate your kind words and we LOVE it when others enjoy our cottage as much as we do!
A very comfortable rustic cabin in a beautiful location! The owners are very helpful and responsive, and we found lots of fun short hikes and things to do in the area. Hiked Howard Hill with view over the state capitol in Augusta, which was a unique thing to do in the area. The cabin has a stocked kitchen, a couple of kayaks, a perfect location for the fire pit overlooking the lake, a dock with ladder into the water, a swim float, a small rocky beach area, and daily beautiful sunsets. Highly recommend!

Thank you for staying with us. Glad you were able to get out and enjoy the area and be home for the sunsets. We appreciate the kind words and look forward to your return.
this family camp is quintessential summer in maine. the photos dont do it justice. you have to see it for yourself. if you love the rustic experience, you must stay here. it has all the amenities of a modern house, yet uniqueness that you will enjoy. the outside area is fairly private; especially by the firepit. along with the dock to swim off, there is opportunity to wade along the shoreline. tiffany is a wonderful hostess.

Cottage was accurately described on website. Rustic lakefront property with beautiful sunsets from the deck. Fully supplied kitchen with full size modern oven. Bathroom very clean, and had nice touches with a pedestal sink and circular shower enclosure. Best water pressure in 17 years of traveling up to Maine to fish. Three guys caught 12-15 bass each morning some were in the 5-6 lb range. Host very responsive to our text messages. Can't wait to come back.

Although it rained all the time we were there, the cottage was quaint and homey and enjoyable. There were games on the shelf to amuse us and we were able to take a swim in the beautiful lake. When I had questions, the owners got right back to me. Only drawback was that the water was not drinkable in the house so we had to bring in water to cook and drink. Shower pressure was awesome. Hope to return next year and hopefully have sunny weather so we can enjoy time outside.

Thank you for your kind words. Yes, the weather this summer has been a challenge for all of us at the lake. We look forward to your return.
Will keep it brief because I don’t want to let others into a good thing. Great view, property, peaceful and secluded yet close enough to any city needs (for vacation). Lake fishing and size with lack of traffic most impressive. Our hound Blue loved the water and backyard. Tiffany and company were helpful and couldn’t have been nicer. Shout out to Scott and Jeremy at Maine Boat Rental in Winslow for fishing boat and delivery, hospitality.

Great your stay was enjoyable as the days we experience lakeside. Thanks again for staying with us.
Property and cottage nice, sofa's smell musty and no blinds or curtains on slider which makes it very uncomfortable to sit in living room at night or too sleep on. Tv the size of a computer screen. Over all, everything else was good for the price. Kitchen had all you need.

Thanks for the honest feedback. The weather this year has been a challenge for our cottage. You are the first who havs expressed concern regarding the TV and curtains and we will consider addressing before next season. Thanks again for your stay and we hope you will consider us the next time you are in the China Lakes region.

A Great Vacation on China Lake
Classic rustic Maine camp, accommodation was well equipped and supplied, large living area. Owners were very courteous and respectful of our privacy. The location is outstanding directly in a point on the waterfront on SE side of China Lake, arguably one of the best Bass fishing lakes in Maine and nationally as well. We had windy weather for the first few days but after the wind calmed down the bass were biting, caught Large Mouth, Small Mouth and yellow perch. The location is also close to shopping for groceries and restaurants. Our only negative is no TV or WiFi, I get that this is to get away, but it would be so easy and inexpensive to provide one or the other. Used up a months worth of data on cell service in 5 days. Overall a great vacation.

Response from VrboOwner on 16 Mar 2020
Daniel, thanks for the feed back. Given the cottage is seasonal and at the end of the lane create challenges to provide data and tv. That said, we appreciate your feedback and are reviewing the opportunities to provide the cottage with a data hotspot/wifi to address your concerns and improve the stay for others.
Tiffany made sure every detail was attended to, checked in before the anticipated tropical storm to make sure we were alll set, and was a kind and gracious host.
The cottage was so peaceful and was much more roomy than the pics appeared to show. We didn’t get to use the fire pit due to rainy weather - nor the kayaks, but we really enjoyed the fireplace at the end of the week when it was cooler.
Our little chihuahua, Emmet, also enjoyed bring off leash and exploring the property - including the water. He liked the coziness of the fireplace as well!
A grocery store and discount store were but a couple miles away, so very handy. We didn’t get to try the local ice cream shop nearby but will next time.
A laundromat was convenient, being only 2 or 3 miles away, so there wasn’t so much to wash when going home.
Can’t wait to go back to unplug and enjoy the solitude, the lake, and the lions…
