About this property

Nell's Farm House - Shelby-Boiling Springs-Tryon Int. Equestrian Center

Your home away from home. Live in the city and tired of the traffic and busy life? Are you working in the Shelby area, visiting a student at Gardner Webb University, attending a wedding, or a family function? Give up that cramped motel room and come on down to Nell's Farm House.

One of the best locations in Shelby! Located on a quiet, tree-lined street just outside of town, this super-comfortable, spotlessly clean, quiet, country cottage is in a historic community on a farm that has been in the family for over 100 years. The house is furnished in a vintage style to reflect the history of Nell and her family, emphasizing comfort. Nell's Farm House is intimate and informal.
Note: While we don't have many reviews on this platform, it's because we prefer booking directly through our own website or using similar platforms. We truly value personal connections with our clients!

Nell's Farm House lets you escape the day-to-day rat race and provides you with a memorable country experience. You can relax on the deck and nap the afternoon away. Here is a place to sit back and relax while watching the horses graze in the surrounding meadows. The nights are peaceful, with only the sound of nature and the light of the stars. The days are opportunities for hiking, exploring, fishing, or just relaxing.

GUEST INFORMATION: Is it time to reconnect with what life was like in a gentler and quieter time?

Nell's Farm House is your place to be when visiting Shelby, North Carolina, for business, pleasure, American Legion World Series Baseball, Gardner Webb University, Tryon International Equestrian Center, Cleveland County Fair, or when passing through Cleveland County for one of our many events.

While suitable for any traveler, the home is perfect for families who need affordable, flexible, and friendly lodging. The house has three nice-sized bedrooms: one king bed, one double bed, and a third bedroom with bunk beds for the children. The cozy den has a television with basic cable. The eat-in kitchen contains all cookware, utensils, and kitchenware, and all linens and towels are supplied. There is a large, centrally located bath with a double vanity and tub with shower.

However, one of the most outstanding amenities is outside the home, situated on a quiet road in a peaceful community. The deck off the kitchen presents pictorial views of the woods and surrounding pastures.

Perhaps one of the best features is the private deck overlooking the pasture, which provides an outdoor living and dining area to take advantage of Shelby's wonderful climate. Whether for breakfast in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening, you will also enjoy the gas grill in the evening as you watch horses and deer and listen to the Katydid singing in the woods.

With a burglar alarm and code set just for you, you will feel safe and secure.

Most of our guests are repeat clients who book in advance through private referrals. We also book some through social media platforms. You will not see reviews of the guests who book through our referrals. We think we've thought of everything you will need for your visit, but if not, we can help with anything you might need while you are here. With enough notice, we will gladly stock the house with your choice of food, beverages, etc. We have lived here all our lives, so we are happy to provide any help during your stay, including restaurant suggestions, events, etc. Just ask! You will love living like a local.
We look forward to hosting you at our house.

Nell's house, located on Hafta' Mosey farm, is hosted by Harold and Debi Metcalfe, founders of Stolen Horse International, Idaho, pictured here with Debi, was stolen from us in 1997. She was recovered 51 weeks later. Her theft is the foundation for the nonprofit organization that assists thousands each year.

Why they chose this property

This home has been part of our family since it was built in 1975. Nell, lived in the house alone most of that time until she suffered a stroke in 2004. She was diagonised with Alzheimer;s Disease and and passed away in 2011. Nell's Farm House relfects her wonderful life with from the vintage dishes to the pictures. We kept as much of Nell in the house as we could but also mixed in our love of horses into the house. It is an interesting mix vistors enjoy.

What makes this property unique

Peace. Quiet. Crickets singing. No smog. No traffic. Lightly traveled roads to walk on without cars whizzing by. Horses. Trees. Green fields. Close to the new Tryon International Equestrian Center, Gardner Webb University and area businesses.
