The house, pool and dock were perfect for us. My husband and I took our daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter (2 1/2) and our son and his girlfriend. There was plenty of room for everyone. The dock was perfect for our boat and the pool was great!
We really enjoyed our stay at the “bare feet retreat.” The house was clean and newly renovated. The pool was lovely and our family enjoyed fishing off the dock. There was prompt communication that made everything easy. Great island getaway for all!
The property is fantastic. It was clean and the kitchen was well equipped. Madeleine was fast to respond to a couple small issues we had that were completely out of her control. She went above and beyond to fix our issue and was very accommodating to us. Would stay agai
It's a very fun and quite place to stay. Spent a lot of our time in the pool, at the beach, fishing off dock. The house works very well for a family, it could use a few cooking utensils. Would defiantly go again.
Traveled by Boat, dock was very accommodating. House was very clean as was the pool and deck area. Owner was very responsive and worked with us on a golf cart problem. I would definitely stay here again.
This home was absolute perfection. It has been beautifully done. The setting is absolutely serene, and we could not have asked for a better family vacation. Thanks!! Would love to come again.
My wife and I have been playing on Palm Island for 20 years now and we coming back. This property is comfortable, low key, great location. This trip we brought our boat and left our truck on the mainland. Nice dock, pool was great. We will definitely rent again.
Best Regards
Let me start by saying that this is an absolutely beautiful property. We did have a few problems. The pool was turning green by day three. The host did have somebody come by to clean it, but they did not do a very good job. It advertises a hot tub with the pool, but there was no way to get heat to the hot tub that we could find. I messaged the host about it, but never received a response. The ceiling fan in the queen bedroom made a lot of noise. It also mentions having a grill, but they need to let you know that it is a charcoal grill and that you need to bring your own charcoal as they do not sell it on the island.
Family loved fishing off the dock, afternoons and evening in the pool with attached spa, hands down the best pool at a rental (we have been renting on the island for more than 15 years.) Spent most evenings on the spacious screened porch. The included golf cart was not working but host quickly paid for a rental from the resort. We did have trouble with WiFi and tv sign in. Host did respond quickly to my texts and calls whenever we needed help.
Can’t wait to stay here again.
Being an superhost myself, it's hard to make me uncomfortable. I understand short term rental is not easy. But...We were disappointed from the second we pulled up. The outside is covered in mold and needs pressure washing desperately. The front smart lock is on it's last leg and took us forever to get it to work. The home needs a deep cleaning badly. The furniture is flat, old, and covered in stains. The entertainment center COVERED in dust, along with the tile floor where the tv is completely covered in dust due to the floors and entertainment center not being cleaned, along with the faux plants and accessories. There are more scary locked bedrooms (with WINDOWS looking into the master) than there are available bedrooms. Hair inside the shower, my husband came out of the shower disgusted bc there was cockroaches in the shower. Hair on the bed. The fridge is broken, drawers cracked, and nothing stays cold so condensation EVERYWHERE and leaking onto everything. The laundry room isn't pictured in the listing bc it's under the house, in a room that smells of mold and NO LIGHTS. So you have to do your laundry during the day. The washer drains where you stand coming in and out of the laundry storage room and to park the golf cart so you walk in nasty water that just openly pours from the pipe. Broken washer machine abandoned just sitting there along with nasty broken kids tables just tossed and left. The hot tub doesn't work, the pool wasn't working ,the pool guy that came out unannounced informed us of this so your swimming in unfiltrated water. The host does not respond. I messaged her for 2 days and she would not respond. No welcome packet to help, even maint. asked for it. The pool light doesn't work so you can't swim at night bc it's pitch black. The walkway to the dock is so warped and sticking up everywhere. The AC broke the last night we were there and this was a message she finally responded too after days of nothing from her. This place could be so beautiful but is just not properly cared for. We considered leaving and staying in the resort down the street. If the host would properly clean, replace the old furniture, and make it what it can be then it would be worth the money. Her response to the condition was "she lives too far". This tells me she has no idea how bad it is, even seeing past guest leave the same review and no changes. She came off like she doesn't care and cant be bothered. So sad.

There is no mold on the house and never has been. I believe you may have mistaken algae for mold. I had this confirmed by our professional pressure washing company. Nevertheless, it has been pressure washed (as we do annually) since your stay.
The front smart lock was only 1 year old at the time of your stay. I apologize if you had a difficult time getting it to work. The door does swell due to the humidity on the island. My check-in instructions provide clear information on how to handle this, and I would have been happy to help if you had called.
The home is deep cleaned quarterly. The last deep clean was completed in late June, and is scheduled again for early October.
I have ordered a new living room sofa, it takes about 10 weeks to be delivered. Other than that, none of the furniture is stained.
Thank you for bringing the dusty entertainment center and plant to my attention. I went to the house after your stay and dusted/cleaned all of this myself.
The proper number of bedrooms was advertised on the listing. If you had reached out about these locked rooms with questions because they were scaring you, I would have gladly explained that they are storage. Upstairs, there are 2 locked doors on the master bathroom. One is the attic, which is locked for the safety of our guests. We know a lot of people travel with young children, and since that wouldn’t be a safe place for children to explore, we keep it locked. The other locked door upstairs is the owner’s storage closet. This room used to be a balcony (hence the windows), but was closed in by previous owners. I can assure you there is nobody in that locked closet during stays. The last locked room downstairs is the cleaner’s closet. This is where we keep extra supplies and linens for our cleaning service. No bedrooms were locked during your stay.
I am sorry to hear you found a cockroach in the shower. We do have a professional pest control company spray inside and outside the home quarterly, but as many Floridians know, they are sometimes unavoidable. This can happen sometimes when it rains, and especially when the house is empty for a couple days in-between guests. We recommend not leaving any food out, as it can attract them.
I have never had an issue with the fridge as long as the setting isn’t changed (as advised). The crack is small, in-between the 2 drawers and does not affect the function at all. However I do hear your concerns and am ordering a new fridge.
I will be installing a light in the laundry room due to your concerns, thanks for the idea.
The golf cart should not be parked in the dirt where the pipe drains. It should be parked on the wooden deck flooring under the house, which is where it was at the beginning of your stay.
I am not sure why anyone would go to the area under the house where the old washing machine was. It is not in the way of anything, nor does anyone ever walk by it or see it other than pool service techs. In 1 year of bookings I have never had anyone mention it. I will look into having it hauled away with the old fridge. The kids table is not broken, we used it ourselves about 2 weeks before your stay. The seat folds up, but once you pop it down it is wonderful for children to play outside on. We quickly spray outdoor toys with the hose before using.
The pool filter does work. You may have misunderstood that in order to keep the pool clean, it runs about 12 hrs a day, not nonstop. The pool people come out to clean every week, which I explained in my check-in instructions.
I just went through our messages, and 6 out of 7 of your questions I answered within 5 minutes.
There is no welcome packet as everything is communicated electronically to reduce waste.
We are working on installing a switch outdoors for the pool light as well as hot tub controls.
There is only 1 spot where the dock walkway sticks up, which I have contacted a contractor to get fixed.
I had an AC tech at the house within 2 hours of you informing me that the AC was off. It was fixed the same day.
This is our personal vacation home, not just a business for us, and we care about the home very much! We spend a lot of time at this house ourselves and most of these concerns did not bother us, but please know I am taking action so future guests can enjoy their stays. I am so sorry you were not able to enjoy your time.
Weekend Making Memories of Beautiful Sunsets and Fishing
Don Pedro is a wonderful, old Florida location. It’s separated from Florida’s hustle and bustle by a ferry that now is extremely reliable, making the mainland quite accessible. This property, while not the newest on the island, is well maintained and offers the combination boat dock, pool and 3 bedroom / 2 bath home. The home was also well cleaned as the pool / hot tub and all the miscellaneous items, like linens and towels, Refrig, stove, etc. The owner was also a pleasure to deal with, providing prompt responses to any questions and helpful local information. A golf cart was also included with our stay, adding easy access to the beach. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
Everything positive! Love south Florida, and love Don Pedro island. The pools was excellent, landscaping excellent that location was excellent. House clean, and the pictures what is a very good representation of what actually was .Golf cart was very nice.
This was our second time staying at Bare Feet with out family! It as once again a perfect family vacation filled with great memories! You can’t beat the location and set up! Thanks for a great time!
This house lived up to all of the amenities listed and more. The pool is wonderful. The golf cart is a great extra. The kayak and paddle board worked great for exploring the canals. The beach is only a short golf cart ride away and never crowded. The house has two grills that are not included in the listing, but worked out perfectly. The wifi is super fast. The floors were clean which is hard to find in a beach property. Very relaxing retreat.

This house really has potential
Let me start by saying we always book through VRBO and we LOVE Palm Island and for that our vacation was still really great however next time we will stay in a different house. We have been in a couple houses on the island and this one by far missed the mark. When we arrived there were workers present fixing the air conditioning and dry wall as the ceiling had recently caved in. I understand things happen, however it was not communicated to us by the owner, that workers would be present in the home when we arrived. On top of that we were told we would have no AC until Tuesday, it was Saturday. The owner of the home did have someone come out the next day to at least turn on the air but he told us to not be surprised if it went out again before Tuesday. Again the owner never disclosed the fact that workers would be in the house while we were there even for the Tuesday repair, we only found that information out from the AC company. We did eventually get AC in the house.
When we arrived the pool was also very low and needed to be filled (by us) and none of the lights in the pool or outside worked.
The house was not clean either. The floors and sheets had been washed and cleaned however the upstairs bedroom/bathroom smelled like cigarettes, the exhaust fans were caked with so much dust and dirt that they were black and when we opened the dishwasher there was a layer of dirt and food as well. The house is in desperate need of a deep clean.
I’m one to always read reviews and base our decision on the majority.
This house really does have a potential to be a great vacation home with some TLC it just sadly was not what we expected for our vacation and communication needs to improve as well.
On a positive note, Having the golf cart was a nice addition to the house to get around for the week and the dock was nice as well as well as we arrived to the island by boat!
We had a great time at this property on Palm Island. The house has everything: pool, dock, and golf cart. Property manager responded to all our requests in a timely fashion. We’re looking forward to our next visit!
We loved our time in Palm Island. The house was wonderful. The pool/spa was such a great perk! Everyday at 4pm the spa would kick on and my kids loved it! Porch is divine. Screened in so we stayed out there most the time r joying the weather and watching the kids play in the pool/yard. Golf cart worked great - we’ve stayed at other homes on other islands where golf carts don’t hold power. If you have a small boat, the dock was such a plus. My husband went fishing everyday. Everyone is so friendly on the island. We saw a bobcat, many gopher turtles, ospreys, bunnies, manatees and dolphin. Would highly recommend the island and house!! Hope to back some day!
