Enjoyed our stay

The house was clean and comfortable.It is conveniently located near US285. Recommend dining at El Jimador and Yellow Brick. Definitely go to KaleidaScoops for ice cream.

Had issues getting into the home upon arrival. Email stated 3 different codes and once tried them it locked/ timed you out. Contacted owner and he did respond quickly and fixed the issue and shared which code was the correct one. Home is spacious and kitchen was a good size to cook if you wanted too. Home could use a good scrub down all over and items replaced. Shower curtain barely hanging on as multiple parts ripped at hooks, pillows on the beds were hit or miss- need replaced, windows blinds broken, chewed and dirty on many windows, sofa and coffee table had not been wiped well as something was on them, towels could use replacing -stained to look dirty and were very worn, lots of hair randomly on items. As getting prepared for leaving property we removed sheets as instructions stated to find blood on the mattress pad. Absolutely disgusting the cleaning crew put clean sheets on and didn't replace! I would not rent again due to the upkeep of this property.

The overall stay was ok. Communication with the property owner was poor. Ran out of household supplies like trash bags, which made it difficult to take out the trash, as property owner requested. Kitchen amenities could use improvement.

Communication was good prior to check in but after that was ignored. Stayed here to be close to Carlsbad Caverns and Guadalupe Mountains National Parks, which was nice. Nest thermostat was locked at 77 degrees in the evening. Most of the house inside was clean but backyard was full of cigarette butts and some trash. The washing machine and dryer were very nice, but no detergent provided for them or dishwasher.

The host pretty much ignored any message I sent.The pull out couch that my son was suppose to sleep on had mouse droppings all over. The mattress was stained and very dirty. The floors were sticky and dirty. Other than that it wasn’t too bad. It was larger than I thought it would be. So overall, I would say it could have been cleaner. They need to fix the screen door, it is heavy and slams shut. And there was a piece of border wood on floor that was broke and every one kept tripping over it. Hard to explain but hopefully it will get fixed. I personally will not stay there again.

Carlsbad Vacation

With exception of a couple of glitches, this would have been a 5 star rating. The emailed code for entry wasn't correct, but a call to owner solved that quickly. The house was clean and pictures are accurate. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and cooking items. The patio had not been cleaned, and last tenant had left several bottle caps, cigarette butts and paper laying around. They had also used the grill but didn't clean it after use. The patio lights required an extension cord, but wasn't provided. There was a Lowe's just down the road so that was an easy solve as well. If ever back in the area, we would book this house again!!

Look elsewhere

The grass had not been mowed in a long time. There are goathead stickers in the front yard that attach to your shoes or pants if you step into the yard when getting out of your car. The front porch light did not work making it hard to see the control pad. The combination was wrong given to us. We had to dig further to find out there was a 2nd combination to get in. There is no coffee provided. There is no master closet. There is no shower in the master bath, only a small jetted tub. Only 1 wash cloth provided per person for a 3 night stay. 2nd bedroom closet light did not work. Not enough cookware provided. There was a camper parked in front of the house making it hard to see when coming out of the driveway. The basketball goal was in the way when getting out of a vehicle parked on the left side of the driveway.

Perfect

The house was perfect. There wasn’t a single discrepancy in the listing which was great. The house was clean, neighborhood was perfect and close to a variety of things. I really appreciate also the amount of dishes, pots and pans etc. the backyard and grill were great. Also super clean inside and out so no issues. Really appreciated the communication from the owner too!!
