Thank you so much for your kind review. We enjoyed hosting you and can’t wait to see you again.
We went in the middle of July so it was HOT everywhere. We enjoyed laying around in the tipi after 7 pm or so (when the tipi was shaded and cooled off a bit). We would like to visit again during a cooler season and have some other family members come along so that we could enjoy cooking out and playing some of the games laid out on the picnic tables. The couple that owned the place were super nice and helpful! 😊

This has been an exceptionally hot summer, Texas is being hit with a drought on top of that. Thank you for your kind words the Arrowhead team tries to make our guest experience the best possible within our constraints. These are canvas structures so during the hottest part of the day the best place to be is under the fans and misters. We look forward to hosting you again in the future and hopefully it will be cool enough for you to enjoy all aspects of our resort.
Happy Camping!
When we came up on the property there was a for sale sign in the drive way. The parking lot was completely empty. We had to leave and drive 5 miles down the road to call VRBO because of the phone service. Vrbo contacted the Host they said they would meet us there. After we check in the tent was moldy and filthy found rat feces behind the bed and mildew on bedding and tent walls.

We are disappointed to hear of your complaint, especially given that you made your refund request before even stepping foot inside your reserved accommodation. You arrived during a busy weekend and contacted us from the driveway to initiate a refund — without inspecting the site or speaking to staff in person.
At The Arrowhead Resort, we are transparent about what we offer. Our listings clearly state that we provide an “outdoor camping experience” in canvas tipis, not in brick-and-mortar structures. This distinction is made explicitly on all five of our listings, along with the following note,“ This is an “outdoor camping experience”. Weather conditions & encounters with wildlife are natural elements beyond the control of The Arrowhead Resort & its staff. We encourage all guests to conduct their own research & prepare accordingly for a camping environment. Refunds/credits will not be issued due to the discomforts of weather, wildlife, or other natural conditions.”
Upon your initial call we immediately went down and took pictures of the property and your claims regarding unsanitary conditions, including allegations of feces and mold, are entirely unfounded. We have submitted the images to VRBO, the accommodations were clean and well-maintained, with fresh linens provided and other guests staying during this same period didn’t report similar issues.
It is evident that you misunderstood the nature of our resort, and are now attempting to reverse your reservation based on personal preference rather than a legitimate concern. Unfortunately, a guest’s change of heart or lack of preparation does not constitute grounds for a refund, as outlined in our clearly stated cancellation policy and terms & conditions, which he agreed to upon booking. Petty allegations against our property suggest you are clearly not a camper and did not know what you were booking. We strongly reject your request for a refund and do not accept any misrepresentation or slander of our property, staff, or services.
We had a great time. Such a great idea and very well done. Close enough for a weekend getaway. We can’t wait to schedule again and also share with friends and family.
Guaranteed core memories to be made here! The whole family enjoyed staying in the tipi - it was a really neat experience. The owners are beyond wonderful and very helpful. The tipis and beds are so cute and comfortable. They have everything you need to hang out by the fire and play yard games under the string lights. The resort is just 1 mile down the road from Tawakoni state park. We enjoyed hiking and swimming in the lake during the day. Highly recommend - very family and kid friendly. A fun and easy place to hang out with kids of all ages - young children and teenagers alike will enjoy this stay.
This establishment was great. The tipis were wonderful and comfortable. The lights outside and table set ups were great. Plenty of stuff for the kiddos to do and stay busy. We will definitely be back.
We rented all 5 tipis and spent Easter weekend with family and friends. We had a great time grilling, playing games and catching up on family news. The place is clean, bathrooms are clean with enough toilet papers and hand soap for use. The tipis are beautiful specially at night when all the lights come on. There’s a very friendly cat that waits at the office porch for the kids to love on.
My family and I loved our spring break stay in the “spirit warriors” tipi. We were overwhelmed by lists, schedules and life, The Arrowhead gave us exactly what we needed to recharge and reconnect! My daughters really loved disconnecting from devices and getting to know each other again, even my 13 yr old. They offered amenities to keep us active and involved. I was able to cook easily on the provided griddle and grills. The restrooms and showers were clean. The property was stunning. We were able to see some wildlife and visit the Lake Tawakoni. Johnny was very kind and helpful. We will definitely be back. Tipi glamping is a MUST, you won’t be disappointed.
Arrowhead had everything you needed! We took our family during spring break even though the nights were freezing. The owner provides a grill, heated blankets, towels, heaters and A/c unit in the tipis. The Tipis were beautiful and the decor was great! Bathrooms and showers were always clean and we loved the community area because the kids got play with other kids while the adults got to relax by the fire. Plenty of biking trails and kayaks at the pond! The owner was very nice and welcoming! Great little getaway and a short trip from the Dallas area.
My mom and I stayed here for our weekend canton trip. It did not disappoint - We had the best time!!! The tipi was super cute, clean, cool (has a/c and heat), and the whole place was great! The host met us, made a fire for us with s’mores the first evening, and was overall very welcoming and attentive. We will definitely be back. I highly recommend - it’s not an overnight stay, it’s an adventure!
We had such a great stay. They tipi is beautiful and cozy. Everything was clean and they have thought of everything. The owners Johnny and Shanna are out and checked everything and meet everyone. They had a campers and tealights that lit the paths. It was quiet and peaceful. Completely enjoyed the stay. Highly recommend.
