Amazing 3-level home. Perfect for 3-generation family visits. Sunsets & elk.
We picked this lot for its beautiful view onto a meadow where elk often graze and for the sunsets. This new home has many architectural details that will wow you. Dancing Bear Lodge is filled with high-end furnishings and is decorated with many pieces of southwest and Native American art from our family's collection accumulated over fifty years. The home style is modern craftsman.
This home has earned rave reviews from guests which most often comprise family reunions of three generations.

The great room has a 35-foot-high cathedral ceiling with heavy hand-scraped ceiling trusses, a real wood burning fireplace and a wall of windows. Large upper and lower outside decks. High-end kitchen appliances will please any chef. The upper-level loft/library is a special place with a view down the valley and hand-built library shelves that demand a photo. This was an amazing home that was so beautifully put together , comfortable for a multigenerational family vacation, and conveniently located to town. Our host responded quickly when we had questions. We all agreed that this home was the best VRBO we have ever stayed in and would recommend it to anyone who has a large family that vacations together. Just awesome!

We are so happy to hear that your family gathering at Dancing Bear Lodge was such a success. Your kind comments about the home are much appreciated and thank you. Please return again soon.
Words can’t describe how wonderful this place was. Had 17 of us together for Thanksgiving. Watched elk in the morning, took hikes, and had fun playing with the grandkids using the nice collection of toys provided by the host. It was magical and very relaxing. The host was incredibly nice and helpful. He and his wife have done an AMAZING job decorating. As one of my daughters said, “You can tell a lot of love was put into the place.”

Beautifully decorated home with amazing views. We had just arrived and saw a herd of elk running across the field! Every day there was wildlife to view. The downstairs was wonderful for the grandchildren because of all the wonderful toys and games. Loved the floor plan of the house. Everyone enjoyed skiing and snowboarding and my grandson caught his first rainbow trout. Lots of family memories! Robert was wonderful and very knowledgeable about the area!

So glad that you and your family had such a great vacation. Barbie and I love to hear how three generations of family can spend such quality time together. Please come back.
We had our two daughters and their families, which includes two toddlers, at Dancing Bear Lodge for a week. The house is very high quality and designed to have every amenity, on top of being very homey. Our granddaughters had lots of toys and games to entertain them in the playroom downstairs, and it's a very short drive down to Angel Fire. We hiked and got out for daily walks and barely saw a soul. The view from the deck is incredible, just a wide meadow with trees across from it and mountains beyond. Almost no sound at all except the birds. The littles enjoyed seeing deer in the meadow in the evenings, rabbits, and chipmunks that live in the rocks around the house. Coffee in the morning on the deck, and a glass of wine and smore's around the fire pit at night. Can highly recommend to anyone wanting a secluded but luxurious stay with family. And the sunsets are not to be missed. Would stay here again.

Glad the you and your daughters and grandkids enjoyed yourselves at Dancing Bear Lodge. And thanks for your kind words. Go Frogs!
The property is amazing! The amenities, decor, furniture and features are all top notch. The location, sitting on the edge of the mountain overlooking the valley provided beautiful views. We highly recommend Dancing Bear to anyone who wants to get away from the hustle of life and find a wonderful quite place to relax with your family or friends yet close enough to town to enjoy everything Angel Fire has to offer.
We also want to say that the Hosts were warm and extremely hospitable. They welcomed us to their property and made us feel right at home. Our family Christmas was made memorable. Thanks for everything.

So glad that your family gathering for Christmas was a success. Thanks for staying at our Dancing Bear Lodge and for your kind words. Please come back again.
This is one of the best properties we’ve stayed at in Angelfire. You absolutely will not find a better view anywhere there. The house was amazing. Great layout for two large families. The kids loved the downstairs area! The kitchen was very well equipped and fun to cook in! The hot tub was the best part. You could just sit there and relax and take in the beautiful view! Regarding the drive in mentioned in other reviews…we came equipped with 4 wheel drive and snow tires. I would consider us novices as far as driving in the snow. We were intimidated by the drive up the mountain but made it just fine with our equipment!

So glad that you and your family/friends enjoyed your stay at Dancing Bear Lodge. Thank you for your kind words about our home. Please come again soon.
We stayed for 5 nights with 3 families and it was PERFECT! The house is even better than in the pictures. It is so spacious and beautiful. The furnishings are high quality and the bedding in each room is luxurious. It was easy to cook meals in the well-stocked kitchen and roomy pantry. The kids enjoyed the downstairs space and the hot-tub was very relaxing. The views from the main living area are breathtaking. We had a snowstorm roll in and we had to purchase tire chains for our minivan from the True Value in town. If you don't have 4 wheel drive, go ahead and purchase chains ahead of time if you are staying during the winter months because you will need them to get up and down the mountain as the roads are steep. We had a wonderful vacation and the hosts were amazing. Thank you for sharing your awesome home with us!

Thanks for your generous review of our Dancing Bear Lodge. We are happy to hear that you and your family enjoyed your stay. Thanks for taking such good care of the place. While a winter mountain snow is a blessing to see, it does make auto travel more inconvenient. I'm glad that you were well prepared.
For future visitors, snow happens in the mountains in the winter. Street and driveway access to our home is at a typical grade. But extra auto preparations are a good idea. The Village of Angel Fire is routinely quick to snow plow all the streets to our home. Our property management company has a standing order to snow plow our driveway after a minimal snow. We have recovery equipment in the garage, including tire traction boards. There are some stuck vehicle services in Angel Fire if you need them. The house and the views are well worth the trip up the mountain.
The house was incredible. Beautiful, spacious new home with plenty of room for our family and friends. The location was beautiful. It was at the end a mountain road off the main highway overlooking a large field and wooded area. The house was fully stocked and had anything and everything we would need for a great time in the winter or summer. We sledded down the driveway with the kids, used the hot tub frequently which was a nice perk. I would highly recommend this house to any large group and I would LOVE to return again one day. We were close, about a 10 minute drive, from the Angel Fire Resort and base of the ski mountain. The parking is easy at the resort.
I would say that 4 wheel drive is needed during the winter mainly if it snows a lot, mainly to get out of the driveway which has a decent pitch . . It snowed a ton the day before we left, and I had our 2 wheel drive up on the top side of the driveway (about 30 yards from the house). There was a huge snow plow came through on the main road to the highway which helped a ton. I got down fine with 2 wheel drive, just being cautious and driving slowly. Either way, this would not deter me at all from renting this house but should be noted.
Also to note the house is at around 9500 feet elevation, for reference the ski mountain is 8500 feet.

Thanks for staying with us at Dancing Bear Lodge. Your kind words and recommendation are much appreciated. Please come back soon.
This is an amazing, well-appointed custom designed home with everything anyone could possibly want when renting a vacation home. The home is clean, open and just perfect for hanging out while visiting with friends and family. It's large and yet maintains a comfortable setting and vibe for all. The views from the windows are fabulous and the game room downstairs ideal for kids and adults.
We stayed over Thanksgiving and watched the snow fall, cooked, ate and then played games. The home also has a jacuzzi as well as a large TV screen. Each bedroom has its own bathroom and the host had a left a welcoming gift for us when we arrived. It was just a fantastic experience. I would HIGHLY recommend this home to anyone or any group who is considering a trip to Angel Fire NM. I have absolutely nothing negative or even constructive criticism to say about this home.
We had 12 family members and a few other drop-ins and this place turned out to be perfect for us. It has a first class view, and the house and everything in it were top of the line quality. We could not have been more pleased with everything. We saw wildlife of all types while sitting on the beautiful deck. It is perfect for all ages, from toddlers to seniors! Each bedroom has it's own bathroom, which adds an extra touch of luxury. The owner was very responsive and could not have been more gracious. I cannot recommend this property strongly enough!

About the host
Hosted by Robert Powell
My grandparents built one of the first homes in Angel Fire in 1968 and that home is still in our family. The family has grown much since then and we needed a larger place to accommodate our three generations. Barbie and I decided to carry on the family tradition of providing a place for family and friends to gather without all the distractions of the world. We want to share this special place with you and your family too. Dancing Bear Lodge is a place for family reunions, friend trips, rest, solitude and an opportunity for friends/families to reconnect and reunite.
Why they chose this property
Dancing Bear Lodge sits just below the trees and a rising mountain and is rather secluded from the other homes in the Angel Fire Resort. The amazing view is down the valley of a meadow is on private ranch land where elk often graze and bed. That property is part of the New Mexico Game Management Unit 48 with 242,197 acres.
What makes this property unique
This is a special place filled with many architectural/design details, southwest, western and Native American art and artifacts that were collected over 50 years by our parents and ourselves. Everywhere you look there is something interesting that will capture your attention.
