A little history:The Saint-Michel district stretches from the Place de la Victoire to the station and from the Cours de la Marne to the quays. This former craftsman's quarter is now undergoing a major transformation and is gradually becoming a dynamic area with a diverse population from many different cultures. This district was once located outside the city walls. It was only when the 3ᵉ enceinte was built that it became part of The Sleeping Beauty itself. Initially renowned as a haven for artisans, today it is a veritable melting pot. In the 14th century, the district was home to the magnificent Basilique Saint-Michel and its Flèche. The district is built around the square on which it stands. With its cobbled streets, wrought-iron balconies, bazaars and small shops, this district has many hidden corners. A secure "Victor Hugo" pay car park is just 200 meters away.
