Home is fine, communication was poor

The house and stay were fine. Some issues with bugs (screen/window gaps let them in), window in shower not fully private). Our main issue was that we had no communication from the host on check in (how to get in) until well past the check in time. We actually thought we'd have to find somewhere else to stay. Right before we gave up (almost 2 hours after check in time), we heard back from the host finally ( had reached out several times via app, phone, nothing). Very frustrating start.

This property was perfect for an overnight stay to visit my cadet at West Point. A nice quiet location and a comfortable, spacious cottage.

Comfortable/Cozy Cottage

We enjoyed our stay at this nicely decorated clean, quaint, and cozy cottage. I especially liked spending time reading in the sunroom. It was conveniently located to many places to visit (Bear Mountain State Park, Pride of the Hudson, Brotherhood Winery, and West Point). It did lack some of the amenities we are typically used to finding in a vacation rental (electric coffee pot; hand towels; toilet tissue holder/towel rack; and hangers in the closet).

cute place

nicely done but parking sort of an issue, no smoke detector, film on shower window partially scratched off allowing view from outdoors, one pillow on two person bed, no extra pillows or blankets and couldn't get tv to work, which, although silly, created an unhappy situation.

Cute that just needs some more attention

Overall our stay was nice and we enjoyed the home. Sadly it appeared they were very under prepared for our stay. Minimal amenities like very few cooking utensils, no spices or oil, limited pans, plates or silverware, no toilet paper or paper towels, and sadly no extra bedding or towels. The owner was upfront about their bathroom renovations but it was done so poorly it was a bit of a hindrance to our stay. The yard again, has so much potential but has not been taken care of. Construction trash/material everywhere, natural debris all over, not safe for children at all. For the cost, this home was very poorly taken care of and we had to buy many extra supplies to just enjoy living normally for a weekend.

We bought this property because we wanted a place where we could come up from the city and unwind after a long work week. The property offers a tranquil environment that you immediately feel when you walk into the home and smell the freshness! We especially fell in love with this property because it is near a wooded area which, for us, means are close enough to wild life to experience it from the comfort of the indoors. The open floor plan kitchen into the living room is great for entertaining game nights or family dinner.

What makes this property unique

I love how easy this home is to get to being that it is at the end of the trail. We always wanted to feel like we were secluded, but near enough in case of emergencies. The location of this home offers just that! The last home on a dead end trail - this gives you the ultimate hideaway experience. It is truly a hidden gem.
