Can't say enough about the property. It was the perfect mix of modern renovation and authentic vintage farmhouse. And Prospect Harbor, Winter Harbor, and Acadia National Park were a delight. We definitely look forward to returning for another visit here.

Bayside Charmer

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This ended up being the perfect base for our family trip to Maine. The ferry to Bar Harbor was only minutes away and worth every penny. This “Back Door” location made for a relaxing, tranquil experience. The setup allowed our 2 families to have enough rooms, Beds, Baths and hot water to enjoy our 5 days together. The backyard grll and fire pit came in handy and there were even a couple of nearby casual eateries that were surprisingly good. The local fresh fish and chowder markets were amazing and great to bring home and enjoy. The home was neat, clean and roomy with a wonderful fenced yard for our small dog. There is no direct water access from the property but that was not an issue for us.The mgt team was prompt, professional and friendly as well.We had a great time!

Charming home

Well maintained, excellently equipped, cozy. Be aware that first floor bath has only a claw foot tub, hard for my husband with Parkinsons. I may have missed that in description.

Fall Stay - 2 Day

2 Couples were celebrating our 40th and 45th anniversary's with a New England fall color trip and Joy Cottage was our last stop before heading home. The house and property were beautiful with lots of character. Apparently built 100 years ago and recently updated it was a fun place. Very comfortable, clean and with all of the items needed. We did make breakfast on 2 days and 1 dinner. Having a complete set of measuring cups and spoons would be helpful - we made what was there work. Highly recommend this property and would stay again.

Perfect home for family trip to Acadia National Park

This property was amazing and beautifully located. We travelled just under an hour daily to visit Acadia National Park and stopped in Bar Harbor for a stroll and ice cream after each hike. On our way back to Prospect Harbor we discovered Schoodic Peninsula. The drive along the rocky coast of the peninsula is spectacular and worth the drive. It is just a short distance from the house. After a long day and tired feet, we were so happy to return to the house for a quiet relaxing evening. Preparing dinner in a well-equipped kitchen, grilling outside, lighting the firepit and enjoying smores was a perfect end to our day. I loved this house and location!

Peaceful New England Retreat

This home has so much charm in a serene setting. It does take about an hour to drive over to Bar Harbor/Acadia, but we enjoy the quieter area and watching the sunset on the rocks at Schoodic Point (about 15 min away) is absolutely amazing! It’s an older home with some modern touches which we loved. The front yard has a great view, the neighbors were very friendly, the backyard grill and firepit were perfect in the evening. The beds and linens were super comfortable. Every kitchen tool I could’ve needed was available, even a large lobster pot and cracking tools. The property manager was easily available and answered our questions nearly immediately. I hope we have a chance to come back.

Friends Fall Reconnect

Four adults and 2 pups. Lovely cottage with Prospect harbor views and the sounds of lobster boats and buoy bells. Quiet street. Fenced in yard for pups (or kids) to safely play. Sizable and well-appointed kitchen. Large dining and family rooms. 3 bedrooms (2 up, 1 down). Stairs are steep with shallow treads. Not ideal for elderly or small children (imo) ... hello downstairs bedroom. Only a few miles from Schoodic section of Acadia Forest Park offering both hike and bike trails without the crowds of the Bar Harbor version.

30th Birthday celebration for our daughter

This was our first time to Maine but won’t be our last! The house is as described and pictures are right on point. It is a very unique house, a couple of neighbors gave us some history which was very interesting. Unfortunately tropical storm Lee joined us on Saturday but the house had a backup generator that was a lifesaver! We are from Fl so used to hurricanes but the generator made it easy. The stairs to the top rooms is a little steep, so just be cautious. There was plenty of room for the six of us comfortably. We also had a dog with us the whole yard is fenced in which was great. The beds were very comfortable and the house was very clean and had most everything we needed, (maybe a few more coffee mugs). This area is gorgeous! The sunset, the water view and the stars at night were beautiful. I highly recommend a visit the Schooner peninsula of Acadia, so close by and it is absolutely stunning and not crowded at all. It is about an to Bar Harbor and about an hour and 15 to the airport. I would recommend this house, thank you for a wonderful stay!

Relaxing Cottage close to Acadia

I have stayed in this area in the past and fell in love with it. Joy Cottage was a wonderful place to stay on this trip. The house was perfect for our group. Everything was comfortable - seating in the living area, beds, bathroom (the toilet set upstairs is heated!), etc. It was great to have the large mud room and we made use of the washer and dryer. We also used the outdoor area where the firepit is located - cozy! I left some new "decorations" on the wall out back from all the treasures I found on my beach walks. I found the public access to the beach and walked from the lighthouse to the access trail every day - usually twice a day! All the locals I passed were very friendly. There are several restaurants really close and getting to the main entrance to Acadia takes about an hour. The Pickled Wrinkle is really good and we got ice cream at the place next door. I should note the beach is very rocky -I knew that but I don't think a lot of people realize that. If you like windchimes I recommend checking out US Bells which is located maybe 5 minutes away. We will be back again and will check Joy Cottage first!
