Family beach cottage poised between the ocean, hiking, biking, eateries & shops

Welcome to Bobby’s Beach Barn, a private home nestled in a peaceful family neighborhood.

This cottage has been freshly updated in 2022 with new flooring, bathroom faucets, light fixtures, furniture and more. It also has 3 comfy beds (1 King / 2 Queen), 3 Samsung smart TVs, a Bluetooth stereo receiver, 5G WIFI and full-size washer/dryer. Plus there’s a huge deck, outdoor shower and a beach cart you're welcome to use.

Sip your morning coffee lounging in an Adirondack chair on the shady deck. Catch a nap in one of our hammocks. And bring your bicycles because the bike path (1/2 block away) takes you to wooded trails, nearby eateries, mini-golf, a wine shop and much more. Take a family stroll to the beach with your eyes peeled for whitetail deer that roam around the neighborhood at dusk.

Our beach cottage has been in the family since 1982. Your host has spent many childhood summers and countless vacations as a grownup in Emerald Isle. He will be happy to share his local tips with you. In fact, here’s a start: Slow down, disconnect, and don’t forget to reapply. :)

Had a wonderful time! Saw a lot of deer in the neighborhood, just beautiful! Went to The North Carolina Aquarium, definitely worth going to. Had five days of sunny weather. The sunrise and sunsets were amazing!

Quiet and convenient neighborhood location

Bobby’s Beach Barn was a nice cottage located in a quiet neighborhood setting and convenient to various Emerald Isle locations. Beach access just down the road leads to a nice family friendly beach away from the crowds. Overall the stay was great and the cottage provided a much needed respite from the rat race of life.

Family Vacation

Our family enjoyed our stay. Our group included my family of four and my in-laws. The home was very comfortable and clean with convenient access to the beach and nearby restaurants. We found having a golf cart very helpful.

Great time on Emerald Isle

This rental was very clean and comfortable and perfectly located within walking distance to the beach and good food. We used the bike trail everyday. The neighborhood is quiet. We would return.

Exactly as Advertised

Everything was exactly as advertised as far as the house and amenities. A couple of things that stood out- the house was exceptionally clean and the owners definitely put a lot of extra effort in making sure their guests are comfortable. I would stay again without hesitation.

Wonderful stay!

We loved our time here! It was our first time visiting Emerald Isle and we will be back! The beach area was never crowded and just enough things to do in the area for a family. The only thing we wish we could have known was the house had more of a “starter pack” of toilet paper, paper towels, etc. Other places we have stayed had extras of these items available which would have been helpful. We had to make a special trip just to get through the week. Not a complaint, but if we had known, we could have brought some items from home.

Relaxing and fun beach trip

The Beach Barn was a very relaxing and tranquil place to stay at Emerald Isle. The property was very clean and exactly as described. Check in and communication was easy and prompt. Each of the bedrooms were very spacious and decorated nicely. We enjoyed the open floor plan downstairs with the kitchen, dining area, and living room so it made for easy conversation and cooking. The porch outside that wraps around the house is huge and was nice to watch the sunset in the distance. The property is only a few minutes walk to the beach at the end of the street. We also appreciated the washer dryer and coffee that was included. Great trip for our family!

Spotless Property

We had the best time at the Beach Barn. The house was spotless when we walked in and offered several conveniences. Several beach chairs/toys were available for use which was a huge bonus. We traveled with a 5 month old and 3 year old and the home was so clean which was a huge peace of mind for the kids. It was a slight walk to the beach, so having a wagon is a must for carrying all beach items. But the beach itself wasn’t crowded at all, and so peaceful. Robert was so easy to communicate with as well! Highly recommend!

Home sweet home

We loved this place the minute that we walked in the door, already booked it for next year. The area was breathtaking and it was so cool to see a few deer,right in the development! The beach was beautiful and peaceful. Found a lot of neat shells. Really enjoyed taking many walks here. The wide sidewalks and neighborhoods were awesome! We ate breakfast out every morning. The food was amazing. ( The Trading Post, Marks Family Restaurant and Yana's were our favorite. We ate dinner at Amos Mosquitoes and Rucker John's. Of all the places that we have traveled this was our favorite! If we could live in the area, we would! Thank you for the use of this beautiful home. Looking forward to next year.

Loved Emerald Isle

Great visit to Bobby's Beach Barn! The owner was quick with his responses and helpful with any questions we had before our trip. We did have a bit of an issue with the check-in process (the key code was not texted to us), and we had the management company come out as there was a cleanliness issue with the bathroom and an issue with the air-conditioning unit. However, the management company was very kind and resolved these issues quickly. Bobby's Beach Barn is in one of the best locations on the island, in our opinion, as it was a quick bike ride to everything! The beaches are large and uncrowded, and the water is stunning! This was our first experience with Emerald Isle and we will be back!

Great spot for family beach stay

We loved this little renovated property and it was a great location for a family stay at the beach. Well stocked kitchen so we could cook and grill at home as well as several nearby places to eat out. Short walk/drive down to the beach. We rented a golfcart to make this easier but be warned, the neighborhood is boxed in by "no golfcart" roads so there is no where other than the beach to drive to. Everything was clean. We had extra sheets, towels, blankets and even a washer/dryer. We never found the iron though. Check in process was a bit bumpy. We arrived at the property office to pick up our keys and no one was there. We used the code to open the lock box and our key was not inside. Turns out the property was not ready but the management could not contact us by phone. Since we were international visitors we had no access to our email/phone at the time and we had no forewarning of the delay. Luckily we figured out how to contact them actively on our own to ask what the procedure should be. It worked out in the end, but we couldn't check in until a couple hours later. We had a great time at Emerald Isle and this property suited all of our needs.

Emerald Isle has been a part of my life since I was a kid, and Bobby's Beach Barn has been in our family for over 40 years. So I know the island really well. I enjoy many outdoor activities, such as cycling, surfing, hiking, etc. This is why I'm so excited to introduce new people to all this area has to offer. EI is truly one of my favorite places on earth.

Why they chose this property

PERFECTLY LOCATED. The cottage is 0.3 miles from the beach, which is a 5 or 10 minute walk, depending on how quickly you walk. It's also walking distance to Gaffer's Restaurant/Pub, ice cream shop, wine shop, Village Beach Mart and lushly wooded trails with breathtaking views of the sound. While you can walk to many places from Bobby's Beach Barn, we highly recommend bringing (or renting) bicycles in order to see more of the natural beauty the island has to offer. The bike bath here is quite extensive, and the western end of Emerald Isle (our location) is the most beautiful part.

COMFORTABLY FURNISHED: This property has a large open-air deck and an open-concept living-dining-kitchen area in a soothing neutral color palette. The main level has one bedroom (queen bed) and a spacious bathroom with 2 sinks and a bathtub/shower. Downstairs features new luxury vinyl flooring throughout. Upstairs you'll find 1 bathroom with a shower, and 2 more bedrooms—1 has a king bed and the other has a queen bed and large cozy chair with ottoman. All bedrooms have ceiling fans. The two upstairs bedrooms have smart TVs, as does the living room.

What makes this property unique

ELEVATED: Bobby's Beach Barn is perched on a sand dune, which means nice sea breezes on the deck and treetop-sunset views. You can't see the ocean, but you can hear it. :)

BEACH NEIGHBORHOOD: Our cottage is tucked into a long-established neighborhood with a mix of year-round families and second homes.

MAGICAL EMERALD ISLE: Compared to other coastal towns in the Carolinas which can be rather barren, our island is blessed with lush greenery and maritime forests growing right up to the beach. In fact, you'll likely see whitetail deer, which often come out of the woods at dusk. Emerald Isle is a small and safe beach town, while still having plenty to do.
