The California Coast untouched by developers. Enjoy while it lasts--old Calif
About Kye Iris
I recently moved to Seattle to greener semi-retirement. I can still answer some of your questions, and will refer others to my daughter Kye who manages the property for me. Please call me if you have any questions and tell me how I can make your stay more enjoyable. She works 8-5, but will respond as quickly as she is able.
Kye Iris purchased this House in 1989
Why Kye Iris chose Los Osos
Unspoiled California as it once was. You are surrounded by natural beauty. Spectacular views--you can reach out and feel the estuary on all sides. This location is a one in a million.
What makes this House unique
As you drift off to sleep, often you might hear a dull roar. You would think it was the sound of the freeway--but it is the sound of the surf. We encourage you to soak in the natural beauty and wonder of this very special hideaway. This special place is not a tourist destination. It is a well kept local hideaway that is not changing rapidly due to so many endangered species and environmentally sensitive restrictions on growth. We invite you to come and stay with us, understanding that this is a very quaint local community that treasures its residential way of life. We hope you can enjoy this rare and unique treasure on the California coast. It is not for everyone. Close your eyes and imagine what it was like to live in California circa 1962. Open your eyes and look out on this period in time and remember what it was like before everything became somewhat homogeneous and sterile. Enjoy it while you can.

Beautiful, peaceful, perfect
We couldn't have asked for more, except for more days! The property was spotless and everything you could possibly want was available. We appreciated the little touches, the art work throughout the home, the attention to environmentally friendly soaps and paper products, the minimal "owner" notes and wonderful welcome binder that made us feel so at home. I wish we could have stayed longer to use the kayaks and do more hikes and bike rides from the property. I hope we get back here one day... Thank you!!
Comfortable home with feeling of spaciousness and light. Lots of welcoming touches, hand made soaps, tissues n every room, thorough information binder, well stocked kitchen. Great view of the rock from elevated outside deck and hot tub. Sylvester’s is the place to go for burgers and old-fashioned shakes. The Galley in Morro Bay for excellent fish dishes with other items on the menu, too. Would stay here again.
We enjoyed this comfortable home very much. Large, nicely appointed bedrooms, we had everything we needed. We enjoyed the hot tub and having coffee on the deck, watching the birds and the view of Morro Rock.
This property is located between San Luis Obispo and Cambria, right by Morro Bay. A great location to visit Avila, Cayucos, Pismo and Paso Robles

Had a wonderful 3 day stay. Waking up to the rock and water view was spectacular and a minute walk to the look out point—so perfect!
FYI , you do have very close neighbors in plain sight from backyard to backyard., not private outside.
Cozy and Quiet
We had a wonderful time! A short Nature trail is right out the front door. The view of the rock from the backyard is great and all the other coastal towns are easily accessible.
Beautiful Location, Comfortable Stay
The highlights are the location and the outdoor space. A boardwalk leading to one of the viewing docks overlooking the bay is literally steps from the front door! There is also a lovely little trail that meanders through the Audubon Preserve. We enjoyed spending time in the small yard out back, which also has a view of the bay. As we were packing up the car the morning we left, we saw a deer feeding in the brush nearby. We watched each other for a couple minutes. Our 3 and 6 year old thought it was pretty cool.
My review would be five stars if the place had been ready for us to check in when we arrived at 4pm, after a long day of travel. It was still being cleaned, which took another 1.5+ hours. We understand that things happen, but we'd planned to unpack, freshen-up, and then be able to join our family (who live locally). The delayed check-in upended our plans for that evening, which was disappointing. Also, when I contacted the property manager to ask about the door from the master bedroom that leads to the back patio being stuck, (I didn't want to just force it. I figured maybe there was a trick to it--it is an older house...or maybe they intended for it to remain sealed shut for some reason?), I received a short reply (sent twice in a row) that 'The screen door swings out.' Which indicated to me that they didn't read my question (via text) with care. It was pretty clear I was asking about the dead-bolted door, that would have to open, before you reach the screen door. Nevermind.
The house overall is simply, but comfortably, appointed. We appreciated that there were plenty of chairs outside. The draperies were a little dingy and both bedrooms would be much improved if there were blackout shades or curtains. (The sunlight streams in the window early in the morning. And, trying to convince little ones that it's bedtime, when it's still light outside, till 8:30 or 9pm in the summer, is a challenge. ;)) Our favorite aspect of the decor were the ocean-themed paintings throughout the house. We assumed the owner or a loved one must've painted them. They were charming.
Our family of four had a pleasant stay.
Steps from the Sweet Springs Nature preserve. A few blocks away from Elfin Forest preserve. Montana De Oro is a must see just 2 miles away. Sweeping vistas of wild unspoiled rocky California Coast. Whale watching in Morro Bay by boat or off the coast from Montana De Oro, with miles of beaches and trails. July 2011 has seen blue whales and hump back whales in abundance just off shore. Bird watching in the winter is spectacular from the deck, or from Sweet Springs preserve just steps away.
