We had a great stay. The property is exactly as described. It's right in downtown and even though there is no parking, it's easy to find on the streets. The hosts were very friendly, and, as they live nearby, they are available for any questions and recommendations one may have.

It was like being a local. Great location, not a resort experience and that's what made it so much fun. Very walkable. We like to get the real flavor of the places we travel to and this did not disappoint. By the time we left we felt like neighbors not tourists.

Very clean and cute little place, great value for the money. Walking distance to the harbor area restaurants and stores. My only complaints are about the lack of transportation/infrastructure and sort of general noise/nonsense in the surrounding neighborhood if people aren't prepared for that. All of the locals turned out to be cool but at first glance reminded me of Welcome to Jamrock
Not at all what we we're expecting, in a bad part of St Thomas, not a lock on the door for security except for a keypad lock that other people had a code for..

We’re sorry you feel that way. As advertised, this property is in the heart of downtown St. Thomas. There are hotels and villas neighboring this property, one of the best private schools on the island is a few blocks away, and some of the most expensive shopping on island is a few streets over. Our neighborhood is an authentic, safe, family-oriented neighborhood with a primarily local population. Finally, this property is gated and the door to the unit is secured with a keypad lock, as you mentioned, to which only the manager and cleaner has access, as is standard with any hotel or rental property. We also routinely recode the lock. Please do not visit St. Thomas again if you feel uncomfortable around locals or do not want the authentic experience we advertised.

Why they chose this property
One bedroom cottage with separate bedroom, kitchen, living, and dining rooms. Eclectic furniture, fans, and tall ceilings will make you feel at home in the tropics. Courtyard views, downtown sounds, and a stray chicken or two!
The savvy traveler can navigate their way to the cottage for just one buck from the airport (ask us how!). We are located 3 short blocks from Main Street and Emancipation Garden. Walk to restaurants and shops on Main Street, the local grocer, or catch the Safari (open-air bus) to Brewer's Beach or Lindberg Bay for just $1. For $2 you can get to Coki and Sapphire Beaches or the bustling east end hub of Red Hook. The narrow streets and alleys of downtown allow for free but limited parking.
What makes this property unique
You will enter the Spice House through a white picket gate and into the shared courtyard.
Originally built as rowhouses for workers, this cottage retains much of its early 1900s charm. The early residents each had their own living space and shared a common cook pot and latrine in the courtyard.
The property, still a work in progress, has since been updated and converted into three quaint cottages, each now with their own kitchen, bathroom, and living spaces. You will see the remnants of the original layout of the workers rooms in the design of the cottage.
Reach out if you would like to rent the other two bedroom cottage.
