About this property
Emmons Suite at Ashford Lodge - Hot Tub and Projector, near Mt. Rainier!
Emmons Cabin Suite at Ashford Lodge is the perfect rustic hideout for your Mount Rainier getaway! Whether you're looking for an adventure basecamp or a cozy place to relax, we have you covered.
Our property, the "Ashford Lodge" is an old bed and breakfast that we bought and renovated in 2021, turning it into a fun rustic mountain retreat! There is a big main lodge, guest house (where Emmons is located), and vintage trailer "glampground", with hot tub, covered BBQ and picnic table, trails, and gardens.
The Emmons Suite is the largest suite in our guest house, which has two other cabin suites. Each room has it's own private entrance, and there is a double layer of heavy insulation in the walls to keep noise down to a minimum.
This cozy room has everything you need for a comfortable stay neat Mt. Rainier National Park. The queen-size bed has flannel sheets and a pillow-top mattress to help you sleep like a baby, and there is a whisper-quiet AC unit to keep you at a comfortable temperature all night long. The gas fireplace provides warmth and ambience; grab a book, game, or puzzle off the bookshelf and relax by the warmth of the fire!
Best of all, you can watch movies from bed on the huge 100" projector! The smart projector is stocked with all the major streaming apps, and we supply a complimentary subscription to both Netflix and Amazon Prime Video! Bring the popcorn and cozy up for an epic movie night!
The room also features a vintage kitchenette with basic cooking needs: Hot plate and electric skillet, coffee maker with fresh ground coffee from a local boutique coffee roastery, sugar, creamer, and tea, as well as a microwave and mini-fridge. There are also mugs, glasses, bowls, silverware, napkins, and a wine/bottle opener.
The bathroom features a shower stocked with top-quality Beekman 1802 shampoo, conditioner, and bodywash. Towels, washcloths, and hairdryer will be ready and waiting for you.
Outside the room, you'll have access to the shared hot tub, tucked back in a private space in our garden away from all the rooms. It's located in a gazebo, so you can enjoy it even when it's raining! The hot tub is shared with guests in our other rooms and is first come, first served; we just ask that guests limit their hot tub time to an hour or so.
There is separate gazebo with gas grill and picnic table in our garden where you can grill up some post-hike burgers, and a hammock so you can relax in the sunshine during the warmer months!
Our property also backs right up to Ashford County Park, which features a small network of paved trails that meander through beautiful woods. Follow our small gravel trail (look for the gravel going into the woods between the hot tub and vintage travel trailer) to connect up with the main park trail, and enjoy and nice evening stroll!
We are also walking distance to several dining options and stores here in Ashford, including BaseCamp Bar and Grill (open April-Oct), The Highlander, Whittaker Bunkhouse Cafe, Rise and Grind Coffee, Ashford Pottery, and more!

About the host
Hosted by Scott Armstrong
Hi, I'm Scott, from Washington State, USA! I'm a hiker, traveler, and professional pilot who also has a love for cabins and fixing up old houses. Nature and local history are two of my greatest passions, so it's a privilege to be able to host folks from around the world to show them what the Pacific Northwest has to offer!
Why they chose this property
Ashford is a sleepy little mountain town with a long history dating back to the logging days of the late 1800s, and long ago, was the terminus for the railroad bringing visitors in to see the majesty of Mt. Rainier, or "Tahoma" as the native peoples called it. It is an area of immense beauty, history, and serenity, surrounded by nature, friendly folks, and sitting humbly below our majestic Mountain.
What makes this property unique
The main house at Ashford Lodge was built in 1917 out of the immense old-growth Douglas Fir trees that once covered the landscape, and as such, is truly connected to the land itself. Over the years it has been the home of loggers, farmers, and more recently, has welcomed visitors from near and far looking for a rustic mountain escape at the base of Mt. Rainier. The guest house, garage, and barn were built in the 1980s by the Osterhaus family, who owned the property for many years and turned it into a beloved local bed and breakfast. I bought the property in 2021 and have done my best to honor its history and rustic charm while giving it some modern updates and giving visitors a great place to stay while visiting The Mountain. Walk the trails of our property, crane your neck at the towering trees (a veritable botanical garden with dozens of species), breathe the fresh air, chat with our friendly staff, meet our adorable lodge cat "Dude", and relax by the fire... You will see why this place is special.
