If traveling in winter, Mt Rainier National Park requires all vehicles carry chains into the park. This mountain cabin sits at 2000' elevation in the Cascade Mountain range, so may or may not have snow accumulation at any time between November and April depending on storm systems. The highway is plowed often so access to the cabin driveway is kept clear. The driveway has an incline, so some years once in a while during heavy snow systems, guests may prefer to park at the bottom of the driveway if not in a 4-wheel or all-wheel drive vehicle.
In the mountains, power outages are common and can occur for a few minutes to a few hours at any time of year. We try to keep this cabin stocked with flashlights and candles. Additionally, we have added battery-operated lightbulbs in the Owl's roost lamp, Bear cub room lamp, and the light fixture above the bench in the mud room. They only work in single light bulb fixtures. They have about an 8-hour charge if the power goes out. Also, there are a few push button battery operated mini-lights throughout the cabin as well.
Due to a severe allergy, dogs are not allowed in our cabin.

The cabin is so cute and cozy! Beautifully updated by the owners. They provide a picture album that allows you to see their process from starting with worn and molded panels and ll through to new tile and woodwork. Wonderful woodlands all around and gorgeous views! We didn't want to leave. Absolutely recommended!

Great little cabin. Really close to the national park entrance. Clean and comfortable. Loved the hot tub and the fireplace.
We stayed 2 nights and it was a great base for going to Paradise and getting away from internet, social media and TV. We struggled with phone coverage so we’re unable to get hold of the owners to ask any questions, but this wasn’t essential as we realised there was no internet! The cabin was comfortable and quirky. There was a great choice of DVD’s and board games which was a nice way of having good family time together. We enjoyed the hot tub and S’mores in the fire pit - a ‘must do’ when we visit our grandchildren from the U.K. We’d be happy to stay here again
Perfectly located and well-stocked cabin. Fluffy towels and comfortable beds. The hot tub was in good condition. Everything was clean and the owners were helpful. Not much Internet up in the mountains, but there are lots of movies and games to keep the family occupied.
Cabin has all essentials and short access to SW entrance of Mt RainierNP. Hot tub feels so good after hiking. No Wifi in cabin and limited in the area and forest too.
The house was perfect for visiting the mountain. It was a good size for our family of 4 and kids enjoyed loft. Hot tub was perfect after long hikes. The internet was not great but plenty of movies, like an old blockbuster! Comfortable house in the woods!
Great location to access Mt. Rainier. Hot tub a huge bonus!

About the host

My husband grew up in this area and has lived here all his life. We live nearby so this is our playground for hiking, backpacking, snowshoeing, fishing, boating, and anything outdoors. We love this area, and sharing it with others!
Why they chose this property
I love to go on long hikes or snowshoe trips at Mt Rainier and this cabin is halfway between those trips and my house. As well, the backyard to this cabin has over 500 acres of national forest, with easy access for long hikes through beautiful trees. This is the perfect stopover after a long day to soak in the hot tub, curl up with a book on the deck, cuddle on the futon to watch a movie, or just watch nature saunter through your yard.
What makes this property unique
We enjoy the solitude, getting away from the rat-race, getting back to nature, finding peace in watching deer, squirrels and other wildlife while relaxing on the deck or in the hot tub. The cabin does not have cell phone coverage, phone, internet, cable or satellite. You can 'drop out' and totally relax. However, if you must have any of these they are all convienently located within 5 miles of the cabin in Ashford.
