Sealodge-H7: Come for the view, stay for the aloha [Princeville, Kauai ]
On a green ocean bluff in the middle of the blue Pacific Ocean, on the north shore of Hawaii's northernmost island -- "The Garden Isle" -- is where you'll find Sea Lodge -- a small condominium complex perfect for your next vacation escape.
Sea Lodge II is the newer of the two adjoining Sea Lodge condo complexes (built in the 70's). It's small, quiet, comfortable and laid back -- like Kauai. Come to relax, breathe in the fresh ocean breeze and get lost in the view: gorgeous sunrises, white rolling surf, rainbows, perhaps a passing ship or two and beautiful sunsets.
PLEASE NOTE: Some vacation management companies try to portray in their listings that Sea Lodge as a "resort", which sets the wrong expectations for first time guests. Both Sea Lodge I & II are residential condos, with individual owners -- so there is a HUGE variation between units. Some Sea Lodge condos are not well maintained. We like to think ours is (!) and we welcome all feedback for continued improvements.
Because Sea Lodge II is located at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac in Princeville, we're off the beaten path but not isolated. We're walking distance from all the resort amenities of Princeville. World class golf, restaurants and shopping are nearby. The Westin Hotel, the St. Regis Princeville Resort, and Hanalei Bay Resort are all less than 2 miles away and the seaside town of Hanalei is less than 5 miles away.
There are several beautiful golden sand beaches within 2 miles of Sea Lodge II including Puu Poa Beach and Hideaways. Several more are just a short drive away, like Hanalei Bay and Anini, but the biggest surprise is the hidden beach just below Sea Lodge. You'll have to hike down a jungle path to get to it, but it's worth it. (VRBO may say it is a six minute walk, but no... definitely not -- more like 15 minutes!!)
Our two bedroom (NB: the second bedroom is the upstairs loft with its own full bathroom, but no bedroom door) condo still needs some renovation from its original 1970's style -- an ongoing project we've been chipping away at. Until then, while the condo isn't the most modern in Princeville it has ocean views that never grow old!!
If you enjoy golfing, there is a full set of clubs available for your use :-)
We can quote a discounted nightly rate, if you let us know your situation _before_ booking specific dates. Use the "Contact host" link (not "Book now") or for a faster response and better di scount conta ct us first -- be sure to watch the video tour with closed captioning on (press the CC icon). The video is available by searching on YouTube for Sealodge H7. (VRBO has removed video display from property listings)
Important note: the condo like most at Sea Lodge does not have A/C or central heat. There really isn't a need for either ...there is *excellent* air flow through the condo. So, if you really need air conditioning, keep looking :-)
Because this is our island home, the kitchen is stocked with not just tableware, plates, pots & pans, etc. and also with basic cooking supplies like flour, sugar, baking powder, pasta, etc. You're welcome to use that you need, and please replace if you use the last of it. We ask that you not use the dishwasher (there is a drying rack) and limit use of the garbage disposal to be noise friendly to the downstairs neighbor.
Please note: By default there is an 'additional guest' surcharge, per guest, per night, for more than 2 people, and a maximum occupancy of 4. This can be waived under certain circumstances, so please inquire by email before booking.
Mahalo.

The view is amazing. Peaceful and quiet. The sound of the ocean crashing against the reef and rocks is relaxing. The VRBO photos do not do the place justice. Watched the sun rise from the porch.

Mahalo. Please do come stay with us again.
With Aloha, Sylvia
We loved our stay at the condo. It has an incredible view, on our first day we saw whales not to mention there were breathtaking sunrises every morning. The kitchen was fully stacked (we stayed at a lot different places and this was the best - coffee, spices, oil, dressings, flour, ect.). Place is very clean, a lot of towels and beach supplies (chairs, snorkeling gear, even a cooler). We found Sealodge beach was the best for snorkeling, plus very secluded and beautiful, lots of fish, we also saw a sea turtle and a seal. Thank you it was a perfect vacation.

Mahalo. We look forward to your next stay with us!
First thing I would say is the owners Gryphon and Sylvia are amazing to deal with. From start to finish before going to our stay it was a perfect communication.
Gryphon answered all of our questions and attended to all our needs. I can only say Kuddos and perfect service.
The place is nice. The views were magnificent.
Again thank you for everything.
Very smooth process, quick to respond with no surprises. Picture represent the space well, but not the beauty of the location, that was better than expected.

Mahalo. We welcome you back anytime, and greatly appreciate your kind words. --Sylvia
We had the most wonderful time at Sea Lodge. Our favorite part was the hike down to Sealodge beach. We snorkeled there and saw many turtles and even a large manta ray. We ended most of our days hiking down there for sunset and it became our favorite spot. We enjoyed the proximity of the condo to north shore activities and to Hanalei Bay and liked going there in the morning for a run on the beach and breakfast at wake up delicious. The condo itself is perched on a cliff above the ocean and has the most incredible views and freezes at night. No need for an air conditioner. With the kitchen and extra bathroom, you’ve really got everything you need. Definitely would stay there again.
The owner perfectly describes the unit and its location. It is indeed an older place overlooking paradise with truly stunning views. The view, sound of surf and beautiful private beach are what continues to draw us here to this complex. This was not our first stay at Sealodge where we have always rented a different unit. After booking this one, there was a required separate detail liability contract and the need to submit a copy of our photo ID directly to the owner. There were several communications, specifics and reasoning provided by the owner regarding the care of the condo and its contents, and various cautions. Additional instructions asked us to call ahead of time to use the washing machine. The owners were nice enough in their communications but for us, long time world-wide vacation home renters, respectful of others property, the level of detail was just too much. We felt uncomfortable relaxing. For Kauai, there was really no Aloha. A last minute change of plans with family left us with a need to rent a smaller unit, which is how we arrived here at this condo instead of our preferred Sealodge unit. If hands-on do not bother you, this is a comfortable, simple accommodation with a spectacular view
Had a terrific week here. Great communication with the owner. Gorgeous views of the ocean from every room. Well appointed unit in a great neighborhood.
The rate we booked was just for 2 people, and there was an extra fee per night for people #3 and #4. Seemed unusual for a 2br, 2ba condo but apparently that's how VRBO rolls? In any case, it's a quiet place with a beautiful view. They are in the process of renovation so the screens will be replaced soon, etc. Very relaxing!
Had a wonderful visit to the island. Sylvia and Gryphon were extremely helpful and friendly. Be sure to look at their bookshelf, which is filled with useful advice and tips about the island. Overall, a perfect vacation spot.

Why they chose this property
OMG, the view!
What makes this property unique
Sealodge is close to Princeville Center, but far enough off the "beaten path" to avoid crowds or traffic. Our little condo is comfortable, quiet (other than the roosters!), and full of aloha. We invite you to stay in our island home.
We encourage lots of communication! Most of the condos at Sealodge I and II are individually owned, and the majority of those owners hire 3rd party management companies to "oversee" STR (short term rental) guests. While staying at H7 you'll always be able to contact Sylvia, Gryphon, or Ronja for assistance, without going through a 3rd party. We will do everything possible to make your stay a great experience.
