Very enjoyable stay to just getaway! Lake House was quaint & clean, with a beautiful view of the lake. We were just minutes away and took full advantage of a winery, a brewery, a Supper Club, and parks with gorgeous waterfalls.
Great location. Serves a family well. Shortage of towels and some confusion with getting in but host was readily available to help with check in.Overall a good stay. Photos gave an impression of a larger home but for the 2 of us, it was fine.
Our stay was a girls weekend. The cabin is dated but clean. Two bathrooms but only one shower. We would have preferred the fire ring on the lake side. It was difficult to get into the cabin as the door keypad didn’t work and the lock box required several attempts to get it to work.
It was the perfect place for my daughters in law and granddaughter and myself. We enjoyed coffee in the enclosed porch overlooking the lake every morning and each of us had our own bedroom with very comfortable beds. We visited the Dragonfly Winery nearby and it was so beautiful and a lot of fun. We visited the sculpture gardens near Taylor Falls and shops there also. We had fun at the casino in Turtle Lake one night and all of us agreed, we would do it again!
We are moms of young kids and were looking for a quiet place to relax. This fit the bill! A close drive to the state park for a hike as well as wineries. A cozy place to end the day with lots of sleeping space. Very quiet and serene with not a lot of check- out requests for cleaning- appreciated the simplicity!
This was a nice cabin with LOTS of room. The decks and screened in porch are beautiful. There are so many games, books and movies available which was awesome! The record player and vinyl were a fun treat. The location is nice and really close to Balsam Lake. We went to the brewery and the Balsam Lake Cafe which were both really good! The description of the steep driveway is accurate, it's no joke! The host was awesome - she sent messages checking in on us to see if we needed anything.
There are a few warnings (not bad things by any means) that I would give others looking to rent this cabin:
- The fire pit is right next to the neighbor.
- The stairway to get to the lower level is pretty steep and narrow. If you have bad knees or stairs are hard for you I would think twice about this cabin. There are two large bedrooms upstairs and a bathroom, so it is possible to not have to use the stairs. There are three bedrooms and a second bathroom (with the only shower) downstairs.
- If you are expecting outdoor space to play yard games this isn't the place for you.
Overall we enjoyed our weekend and had a great time!
I stayed at this property with my mom, aunt and cousin for a girls' weekend. The property was perfect for our stay. Just know there is no heat in the basement (3) bedrooms, but there are ample space heaters and we were okay with colder rooms.

My husband Jonathan and I love to travel and explore new places. We were both born in Minnesota, but got engaged in St Lucia and wed in Big Sur, California! We own a home in Minnesota as well as this Wisconsin Lake house, and are often chasing our small children around.
Why they chose this property
We love the tranquility and peace of this lake property, a little over an hour away from our home. It's a lovely getaway and we are excited to share this gem with others.
