We had a rough time here, unfortunately.
Check in was not seamless, but we got it figured out.
After getting in to the house we felt like the temp was hot (central Florida, close to a 90 degree day, house was at 80 degrees when we check in) so we dropped the thermostat temp to 70 and waited for things to cool off. Long story short, they never did.
We finally realized the A/C was broken on the second day, called/texted the host, did not hear back. The next day we called/texted again and he finally responded. A/C tech was not able to come until the next day so on day 3 of no A/C.
Repairman comes and says part won't be available for 2 more days. So on day 5 of no A/C at this point. Part finally comes in...broken. So we stayed the whole time with no A/C.
Was it the hosts fault? I don't know how closely he follows his A/C maintenance schedule so I have no idea. Was it an inconvenience? Yes. Did it turn out as poorly as possible? Yes.
Thankfully the host offered *some* refund, after we spent 3.5 hours on the phone with VRBO (which was the action the host told us to take) to no avail. Calling VRBO was like the worst gaslighting experience you have ever had, with a company that takes zero responsibility. The host was not at all knowledgeable about the process and doesn't seem to know what his responsibility is versus the company he works with. But like I said, ultimately after some negotiating we got some refund on our total stay.
There were also biting bugs in the house.
