We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful property at the top of the mountain, it was so peaceful and beautiful. We loved (and I mean it) the road up to the house. And is really close to Shenandoah National Park. Definitely a place we would love to visit again!
My girlfriend and I enjoyed our stay here, and it was exactly what we had expected and needed. It was close enough to Shenandoah to go hiking for the day, and the views even just outside the house were beautiful.
Had a great stay at this property! Plenty of comforts to make it a home away from home. A full kitchen with utensils, pots, and pans. Grill and fire pit if the weather cooperates. Sunrise and sunset from the property are lovely and coming up over the hill on the driveway was always charming.
The photos on line do not do this property justice. The view of the mountains during the day and the stars at night is spectacular. The cottage and grounds were clean and well kept. Bedrooms were quite spacious. Perfect location for a relaxing stay and exploring the Shenandoahs. The mountain road to access the cabin may be challenging for smaller cars. 4X4 probably preferred for inexperienced drivers. Overall, highly recommended.
Place is as advertised, well off the beaten path and makes for a nice get away. Reasonable drive to great hiking as well as a few breweries and restaurants. Enjoyed our stay.
My wife and I enjoyed our stay immensely.
We spent the days visiting the local wineries and the evenings relaxing in front of the huge firepit gazing at the stars. The mountain views and fall foliage were spectacular. The check-in process was smooth and Brian quickly responded to any questions. Cant wait to return again in the future!
Good launching point for trips to Shenandoah. Cabin was clean and as described. Host was helpful and responsive. Would definitely recommend and will book again if and when we’re back in the area.
We had a great stay!
The view was spectacular and seeing the horses with our 2 year old was a hit. The cabin was clean, spacious and adequately stocked with kitchen supplies. The drive was easy and it was close to Shenandoah National Park. We will definitely stay again if we’re in the area!
The road leading up to the house is mostly a dirt road, sometimes steep, but our truck made it up just fine in 2 wheel drive. The house is situated on top of the mountain with a glorious view out front! Plenty of space in the yard if you had kids who wanted to run around. The front porch is great for sitting and taking in the view. The house itself has everything necessary for a pleasant stay - TV, kitchen, couch, nice beds, great hot water. I was delighted with the whole experience and hope to stay there again.
My husband and I had gone to the area to hike old rag to attend a wedding nearby. This perfect little cabin was right between old rag and Lydia Mountain Lodge. It was clean. The view was beautiful. And the bed was super comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked And coffee on the porch in the mornings was perfect.
Beautiful, clean and spacious house with a stunning mountain view. Plentiful amenities. My only complaint is that is was a tad hard to get to, but overall a wonderful experience.
Very clean property. All rooms suited just what we needed. We used the home as a place to come back to at the end of the day spent fishing. Everything we needed was there. Coffee pot, hot shower, comfortable beds, and some space to stretch out.
We had a great weekend in this pretty little wooden house, nestled in the forest, on top of a hill. The house is comfortable, with all amenities. The view of the landscape is very beautiful. The entrance to Shenandoah Park is a 20 minute drive away. It is definitely a very good address in the area !
It had everything we needed. We did manage to get a little bit of a signal but be prepared with some downloaded stuff. It was cool to wake up and look out and see horses out the window.
The stay at Brian's place is worth the drive up the dirt road to get there.
I am glad we got there the first day before dark.
The property and house were a pleasant surprise, given the location. We had everything we needed to cook meals there and have restful sleeps.
We hiked Rose River Loop trail and White Oak Lower Falls trail on Brian's suggestion. Both reasonable driving distance and both great ways to experience Shenandoah.
We loved everything about our stay. It’s a wonderful property and the best view on the mountain. When you are driving up through the woods and then everything just opens up when you get to the property, it’s just gorgeous. My kids loved the horses and the fire pit for smores. They loved running around exploring outside. It was so peaceful. Stargazing was amazing at night. The house was perfect for us. Everything was super clean and we felt very comfortable. We definitely are going to try to come back again. Hopefully in the fall.
This was a lovely, quiet place to get away for a few nights. There are neighbors a few hundred yards away but from the front porch it's easy to see nothing but the surrounding woods and a nice view of the mountainside. The home is well-stocked including pots, pans, and knives in the kitchen, a washer and dryer, heating and cooling, and a stack of firewood. The road leading up to the property is steep and gravelly which may be tough if it's icy or snowy.

Nice/Clean place with great views. Be prepared the drive to the property is a mile of gravel/offroad
Brian's guest house in the mountains of Stanardsville was by far one of the best VRBO properties I've stayed at. The home was clean and had many amenities. The kitchen was amazing! Many times, a rental property will have a few odds and ends of pots and pans and maybe a spice or two. This property had wonderful new cookware, knives, utensils, and dinnerware, and many spices to cook with. Also, plenty of soap, sponges, and cleaning supplies. The washer and dryer were also an unexpected nice amenity.
The location is great, very quiet with beautiful views off the porch and deck. It was fun to watch the horses in the nearby paddock. This was a wonderful property and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone staying in the area.
