The place:
Callantsoog is a former fishing village and one of the oldest seaside resorts in the province of North Holland. The newly designed town center exudes atmosphere as well as sufficient shopping opportunities with its shops, restaurants and cafes. It is particularly convenient that groceries can be bought 365 days a year from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
There are numerous options for athletes: swimming, fishing, horse riding, tennis, squash, cycling and hiking.
The sandy beach is located directly behind the dunes and can be reached quickly via the four beach exits "Abbestee", "Seinpost", "Dorpsplein" and "Kiefteglop". The “Seinpost” dune in the village is the highest sand dune in North Holland.
The beach stretches for miles in both directions. Restaurants right on the beach (beach pavilions) invite you to take a break all year round.
In the immediate vicinity of the village, a large part of the dunes belong to the “Zwanenwater” nature reserve. This 550 hectare nature reserve, consisting of dunes, swamp areas, lakes and forest, is home to various bird species.
The port city of Den Helder is approx. 15 km away - there is the famous Naval Museum. The ferries to the beautiful North Sea island of Texel also depart from here. In addition, the town of Alkmaar, which is particularly known for its cheese market and the beautiful old town, as well as the beautiful towns of Schagen, Egmond an Zee and Bergen are easily accessible.
