Play and Stay on Put in Bay!

Put in Bay, also know as South Bass Island has been called the Key West of the North. It is an island located in the western basin of Lake Erie and is reached by ferry from Port Clinton, Catawba or Sandusky. You can bring a car although the taxi service and golf cart rentals are a great way to get around. Put in Bay is definitely a fun loving place. The summer weekends are noted for the many taverns and nightlife, however during the weekdays and off season, it's a great place to relax with family and friends. There's history with Perry's monument, a lighthouse, butterfly house, wineries, a state park for lake swimming and fishing, a public golf course, jet ski rentals, miniature golf, or just enjoying the scenery at DeRiveria Park! After a busy day you can relax in the new development pool or just soak in the garden tub with a good book. Our home has two decks, great for relaxing and kicking back. On a quiet night you can hear the waves!

Excellent Weekend Getaway

My husband and I have stayed at different rentals at the Island club, and I would definitely recommend this home. Everything was clean and in good working order. Perfect place for couples or a family.

Fun Girls Week!

We had a great time enjoying the Island and then having a comfortable and quiet place to come back to. Enjoyed the pool right in the complex we were staying. Thankful for a full kitchen and grill to use. Would recommend this house!

Fishing in Put in Bay

Nice space for 6 adults. Very comfortable furnishings and layout. Good size deck on front and back. Too bad they are not clear of debris before arrival. Tough parking more than one truck and boat. All the other house guests near by were great.

Excellent stay for a Bachelor Party

There were 10 of us guys that stayed for the whole weekend! It was an awesome house away from the hustle and bustle of town. The check in process was simple, we were able to get in early, rented golf carts and ran back and forth to town. The house was very spacious and had a lot of room. We were not crowded at all. We packed a bag with miscellaneous things we thought we needed but the house had everything we needed! FYI there are 2 additional roll out beds in the closet that we had no idea about until the end of our stay. Would definitely rent again and highly recommend to others.

Girls Weekend

We enjoyed our stay but there were a few drawbacks. Overall the cleanliness of the property was less than stellar. It did not seem as though it had been cleaned between visitors. There were leftover food items in the cabinet, leftover bag of ice in the freezer. Property was dated and could use a little sprucing. Bedding was uncomfortable but served its purpose. We would have loved to enjoy the deck area of the property but due to the lack of upkeep and cleanliness we weren’t able to do that.

The location was great. However, the house was not cleaned prior to our arrival. There was hair covering the sink, dead bugs in the tub and hair clogging the shower which prevented the use of it because it wouldn’t drain… it was difficult to call due to the poor reception and there were no other places to stay for the weekend we were here. The floors were not swept and there was still food on the carpets. And trash from bathroom was not taken out. The renting process was quick and easy and I hate to leave a negative review but it was significantly dirty in the home.

The place was cute and had all the essentials. Great location and loved having both decks. The grill was clean and nice. The house, however, was filthy. I know the owner responded to other reviews that the visitors should have said something to her upon arrival and we didn't either. We didn't want to delay settling in and wait for someone to come clean. So, when we first got there, we wiped everything down, vacuumed, swept, mopped, cleaned the toilets, and washed the blankets and mattress covers we were going to use. Upon arrival, there was a bag of hamburger buns on the floor between the fridge and sink, there was trash in the bathroom, a dried french fry on the bed, a hairy bar of soap in the shower. It was just apparent the place was not cleaned in between stays. I'm sure the owner uses a service on the island and we personally saw a cleaning crew go into a cabin (with a vacuum) and came back out 5 minutes later and left. So, I'm sure it's the same crew cleaning this house. It's just discouraging because it's advertised as covid clean and we pay an additional cleaning fee.

Marie was wonderful, providing extra accomodations to help offset the Island Club deciding to work on the roads surrounding the property with very little information on very short notice. Very clean and with plenty of cups, straws, dishes, etc. Thank you!!

Bachelorette Party Weekend

The house is in a great location and the neighborhood was clean and pretty quiet! There’s a nice community pool as well. There is a shuttle service from the Island Club to anywhere you want to go around the island which was a nice surprise! It’s $4 per person one way and it runs until 3AM especially now that you have to pay to park a golf cart around the boardwalk. Our hostess was very helpful and responsive and her instructions for check-in and check-out were easy to understand and follow. The trip and my first experience with VRBO was great!

Not clean

This property is covered in cobwebs and there are a lot of bugs. My friend had a spider on her when she woke up. Shower had an old bar of soap with someone else's hair attached, our feet were black from walking barefoot. I reached out to the owner who just thanked me for letting her know, no apology or attempt to mend the situation.

The house was clean but needs updated. The decks were covered in branches and leaves. We cleaned it up but they say check in is at 4 the expectation is for it to be clean inside and out. Other than that we had an awesome time!

Great location

The location was nice. The house was set in back of development. Plenty of room for the 3 of us. We had a wonderful time. Was disappointed in the cleanliness. Bathroom walls and house floors were very dirty. Turned our feet black. The house is run down and needs upgrades. Also the dishes were not clean.

We're average folks, just wanting to have the opportunity to share our island home with others.

Why they chose this property

We love the beach and living in Ohio, we've always enjoyed Lake Erie, it's amazing what the North Coast has to offer. Because Put in Bay is an island and is only reached by ferry or plane, we always got the feeling that we were 'on vacation' when we went, even if it's just for a few days. Put in Bay has so much to offer, from the great entertainment, the quaint shops, wineries and the spectacular sunsets.

What makes this property unique

Our home is completely furnished and ready for your stay. Put in Bay is within a day's drive of much of the Midwest. It's amazing to realize that guests from places as far as Wisconsin, Chicago, Cinncinnati, Washington DC and Pittsburgh regularly come to enjoy this little island in Western Lake Erie.
