About this property
Dad's Cottage ★ Private waterfront plus 3 King suites★
This lovely luxury property on the western shores of Canandaigua Lake is situated on a quiet private lane and fully outfitted with everything you'll need to enjoy your time here - any time of year!
With plenty of bedrooms and multiple gathering spaces there's enough room for everyone to work, study, relax and play. The lake with private dock is just steps away and the beautiful lake views help create a calming atmosphere both inside and out. It's a feeling you truly won't forget!
FIRST FLOOR
The first floor is an open floor plan with wood floors throughout and is subtly divided into separate spaces.
The full kitchen with granite countertops and walnut-topped island has 5 stools, which can be turned to add seating to the adjoining conversation area that features a large comfy sectional and coffee table. Additionally, there is another lovely sitting area with propane fireplace and flat screen tv for those who might prefer just lounging,
The large full bath is off the center hall and is a perfect spot to change out of a wet bathing suit or damp ski clothes!
Huge sliding glass doors open to the year round porch with 180 degree views of the lake. The south end of the porch features a sitting area with new and antique wicker furniture, while the north end has an extra large dining table for gorgeous views while you enjoy your meal. It's the perfect spot to work on a jigsaw puzzle, catch up on your favorite novel or enjoy a post-ski/swim nap - if you can take your eyes off the amazing views of Canandaigua Lake!
SECOND FLOOR
The second floor has perfect spaces for all, including adult children and grandchildren with 3 king bedrooms each with an ensuite bathroom, 1 Queen bedroom and 2 twin bedrooms (2 beds each) with shared hall bath. Best of all is the office/library with an oversized picture window overlooking the lake and yard, and a large desk and comfortable seating area. The full laundry room is conveniently located off the center hallway on the 2nd floor.
OUTDOORS
Of course, it's all about the lake! We have a lakefront yard with stone steps down to the lake, and a large dock that features a secure wide staircase to make sure that getting into the water is easy for everyone!
The professionally landscaped yard has an outdoor dining area with seating for 12, wood burning fire pit for nightly s’mores or the retelling of favorite family stories, a pair of teak chaise lounges, Enjoy using one of our 3 kayaks, our paddle board or our Sunfish if you're a sailor - or bring your own water gear to launch from our small private boat ramp.
Two adult bikes, a child's bike and razor scooter are stored in the garage, along with a second refrigerator and freezer. We plant an herb garden each spring, which you are free to use (and the deer enjoy too!), and have a composter if you're into recycling food scraps. The quiet private lane is perfect for early morning walks or evening strolls where you might just spot a local bald eagle or a family of deer.
If inclement weather hits and you need an indoor activity we have you covered! Discover a great read from our collection of favorite books in the office, break out a jigsaw puzzles from the closet and give it a go, challenge someone to one of our many board games, build Legos to your heart's content with our bin of over 10,000 pieces, or head down to the basement for ping pong, billiards, or binge watching on the flat screen TV.

About the host
Hosted by Sheila D Rohrer
My husband and I were born and raised in Rochester but job opportunities took us to other places. While we've settled in the suburbs outside Philadelphia, we still consider upstate NY our home and come back several times a year with our children (now grown) and friends. We have years of our happy family memories here.
The joy of making our home available to others is that we have several families that have returned year after year, so now the home is part of their family's memories too!
The joy of making our home available to others is that we have several families that have returned year after year, so now the home is part of their family's memories too!
Why they chose this property
We grew up going to Canandaigua Lake, in the days before the NYS Thruway was connected to 490! The property has been in the family for about 50 years, although the house was totally rebuilt about 15 years ago. We love the fresh, clear lake water in the summer, the gorgeous leaf peeping in fall, great skiing nearby in winter (and sometimes in Spring too!) and the deep longing for warm spring days that inevitably sets in after a Rochester winter! We've had so many wonderful vacations with our children and extended families here and hope you do too!
What makes this property unique
It is hard to describe the feeling I get everytime I walk into this place and see the gorgeous lake views for the first time. No matter the season, the lake is always beautiful, with the clouds moving overhead and the mood shifting with the light. Even in the dead of winter, perhaps especially then, the lake exerts a strong calming influence on everything that surrounds it.
