Lovely Week on the Leelanau Peninsula
We enjoyed a lovely week on the Leelanau Peninsula based out of the Evening Glo Lodge. The cabin is charming, historic and well-maintained. The kitchen and bathroom are older but clean, functional and consistent with what one would expect from a vintage cabin. There is a nice breakfast area in the kitchen with windows on three sides and natural light that is uncommon in older log structures. The living room is large and nicely laid out with a couple of couches, a dining table a desk and a massive stone fireplace that we enjoyed on a cooler summer night.
The primary bedroom downstairs is small but comfortable with views over the bluff and Lake Michigan. The loft has two sleeping areas which suited our sons (ages 11 and 15) well: the smaller, enclosed bedroom in the loft is quirky but fun for a kid. The sleeping arangements are perfect for a small family, but might be a bit constrained for multiple adults.
The cabin is outfitted well: plenty of pots and pans, cutlery and utensils. There's a charcoal grill outside, a washer/dryer and plenty of wood for the fireplace or fire pit. There was a bookcase of board games and an a selection of books that incded novels and local guides. The wi-fi was a bit spotty but that didn't bother us. We didn't even think about turning on the TV even on the rainy day we spent at the cabin!
The setting is truly spectacular. The cabin is set back from the edge of a towering bluff over Lake Michigan, with views out to the Manitou Islands.
