About this property
Riverside Relaxation! Book 2 Nights, Get 3rd Free!
This one bedroom riverfront home is considered one of the finest rentals in Helen.
Quiet location yet very close to town - 1-2 blocks! Clean - like new condition. Approximately 30 feet from the river - unobstructed and gorgeous view! Level backyard to the river. (See photos - all photos are current)
It has a large and beautiful two-sided gas fireplace (Liv. rm and bedrm - seasonal). The condo’s location is in town for the ease of enjoying Helen's many venues and year round activities. It has a well lit covered parking area. The condo building has 4 units - 2 lower and 2 upper. This home is on the lower level just above the covered parking. There are fifteen stairs to reach the condo (While the building does have an elevator, we cannot guarantee its functioning status as that is managed by the HOA. While we would love to host you, if an elevator is a necessity we encourage you to continue your search rather than experience any inconvenience. As of 6/4/25 the elevator is out of order with an unknown date of repair, this listing will be updated when it has been repaired.) There is a front balcony (small/Juliet) just off the dining room. It provides a street view and a view of a few business establishments. (River is in the backyard) From the balcony guests can "people watch", view most parades, occasional collector cars, horse drawn carriage tours and a mountain view/sunset.
A gorgeous and tranquil view of the river and backyard can be enjoyed from the covered rear deck, bedroom and living room. Passing summer tubers (generally May-Sept.) do add some activity and entertainment. The backyard is level terrain. The HOA has a resident/guest use beach access area for wading or swimming and approx. 500 feet of river frontage for river play, fishing and relaxing beside. Bring your lawn chair and relax beside the river or set your chair right in the river! Undeveloped and peaceful Unicoi State Park is the mountainside across the river from the condo.
Room by room details: (A "things to do" list is below room details)
The living room has a comfortable dual reclining sofa, comfy soft chair and a large sturdy wooden rocking chair. It has a beautiful, very easy to use (turn the timer dial) two sided gas fireplace (seasonal- unavailable 4/1-9/30) that can be viewed from the living room and the bedroom, WiFi, a 50" big screen TV with streaming channels. A view of the river can also be seen from the living room.
The dining room has a table with seating for six, a coat closet, a side curio cabinet and a wine sidebar. Wine sidebar has empty cupboards for your own pantry items. Door off dining room opens to a small balcony.
The full kitchen features granite counter top, stainless steel appliances (side by side refrigerator, smooth top electric stove and oven, dishwasher, built in microwave), clothes washer and dryer, breakfast bar w/ three bar stools, drip coffee pot, blender, toaster, hand mixer and plenty of cookware, dishes and silverware.
The home has one bedroom. It is roomy with a comfortable king-size bed - pillowtop mattress. Gas fireplace (seasonal - unavailable 4/1-9/30). Bed linens, pillows and blankets are provided. The bedroom has a black-out-the-light curtain on the street side to help you sleep. Bedroom also has ample closet and dresser drawer storage for your personal belongings. You can settle in just like home. A door from the bedroom opens onto the covered deck. A view of the river can be seen from the bedroom.
The over-sized bathroom includes a jetted tub (big enough for two), a separate shower, a cabinet with towels, wash cloths and storage and counter space for personal items.
Rear covered deck: Your home away from home has a relaxing rear covered deck with an amazing view of the Chattahoochee River just a few feet away. The rear deck has a table and two chairs for private riverside relaxing. Enjoy a quiet morning with a hot beverage or a drink of choice later in the day. Prepare your favorite meal in the full kitchen or enjoy take out from any one of Helen’s many restaurants. Either way your very own riverside table is always available. The view across the river is of a tree covered mountainside - it is an undeveloped/protected area of Unicoi State Park. Birds and other wildlife are often spotted from the covered deck.
Things to do:
Stay busy exploring the area or sit back and relax at the "Riverside Relaxation" condo. Just as its name implies, if you don't want to do anything you can simply put your feet up, relax and watch the river water go by.
The "in town" location of Riverside Relaxation allows for ease of walking to and enjoying the variety of activities Helen has to offer. You are within walking distance or up to a one mile drive from the following: Numerous restaurants (casual to upscale, traditional to German fare - some with outside seating, some on the river, some with live music), several live music venues, Habersham Winery, historic Nora Mill Granary, antique stores, Helen event Festhalle, Christmas festivities, various parades (some viewed right from the condo's front balcony), wedding chapel, miniature golf, summer tubing on the river, a small waterpark (pool, waterslides and a lazy river), family style roller coaster, slot car race track, riverside picnic park, downtown's city park, Helen's Arts and Heritage Center (a small museum), Betty's Country Grocery Store (warmly unique with all the essentials), liquor stores, many interesting and engaging shops, horse drawn carriage tours, the trail head to hike nearby Heritage Trail or from Helen to Unicoi State Park.
Two to three miles from the condo: The historic Old Sautee Store (rocking chair porch and interesting history, souvenirs and gifts), Hardman Farm and Indian Mound Historic Site (in Sautee), the educational Folk Pottery Museum (in Sautee), the lovely Lavender Shop (in Sautee), Fred's Famous Peanuts roadside store, Woody's Mountain Bike Rental (with trail location info), Innsbruck Golf Course (hilly and beautiful- open to the public), two miniature golfs, Cool River Zipline (some ziplines go over the Chattahoochee, have an awesome wall climbing, aerial walkways and more) , Chickamauga Creek covered bridge and Unicoi State Park.
Within three to six miles from the condo: Several waterfall trails, Yonah Mountain Vineyard, Serenity Vineyard and other local and well rated wineries (there is a "wine trail" - a tour of seven wineries with tasting rooms available), Cabbage Patch Kids Babyland, Smithgall Woods State Park and many, many other places of interest.
If you are out driving the scenic countryside you might wish to enjoy two nearby spectacular waterfall trails just 6-7 miles away (Dukes Creek Falls and Raven Cliff Falls - both off Hyw 348). Brasstown Bald, the highest point in Georgia, is approx. 40 minutes north of Helen. A number of beautiful vistas can be enjoyed at roadside pull offs on Richard Russell Scenic Hwy. GA Highways 129, 75 and 348 provide access to a number of trails including the Appalachian Trail.
Relax and Enjoy:
Indulge in your private candle lit jetted tub.
In cooler months, snuggle in front of your two-sided gas fireplace - bedroom and living room.
Unwind on the covered deck watching the river and summer tubers go by, or the occasional ducks and people fishing.
Riverside Relaxation and the charming Alpine town of Helen both offer so much including the feeling of home.
