About this property

Cozy Historic Oakwood Duplex

HISTORIC OAKWOOD 1 bedroom duplex! with Krispy Kreme just across the street :-). Walk to all Person St action - many restaurants & bars just a few blocks away toward Mordecai area and Moore Square only 1/2 mile away with lots of restaurants and entertainment venues. Original wood floors, fireplaces (non functional), newly renovated kitchen and bathroom.

Our space is the smaller side of a home that is divided as a duplex located in Historic Oakwood. The kitchen and bathroom have been renovated and the rest of the house is also renovated but still has its 1920 historic home charm (and some quirks). The 1 bedroom / 1 bathroom space is all on one level entering from the front of the house, but there are a full set of stairs to walk down to get to the shared backyard area. The central heat & air are controlled by the other side of the duplex, however we do provide heaters to help guest to control to suit their needs.

Great location to walk to downtown Raleigh. Krispy Kreme is just across the street with several restaurants and bars just a couple of blocks away. Moore square is only 1/2 away with many other restaurants and entertainment venues. Merrimon-Wynne is only a couple of blocks away (popular wedding venue). And a Publix grocery store about 1/2 mile down Peace St. Peace College is just around the corner and easy access to all other universities in Raleigh. Access to Hwy 40 is only 2 miles away to get to RDU Airport or other areas in the triangle.

We are happy to meet our guests but find that most like to check in with our keyless entry and reach out to us as needed. I do usually respond quickly - definitely within the hour unless it is a very unusual time.

Located in Historic Oakwood and adjacent to Mordecai area. Great neighborhood to walk around just to look at the beautiful historic homes!!

PARKING
At this time, streetside parking is available in front and beside the house after 5pm on weekdays and anytime on the weekends. During 8am-5pm M-F, there is a 2-hour limit to park there (they will give you a ticket). So our onsite parking is in the back yard of the property during these times. You’ll need to open the gate to the back yard and park there. Please park in a way to not block other cars parked there unless those cars are in your party and you can manage amongst yourselves. We generally limit cars in the back yard to 1 car for this property (the 1-bedroom unit). If there are minimal cars with the otherside of the duplex, we can consider 2 cars. Please contact host for this information.
There are other areas where you can park streetside with no limitation, you’ll need to find those within a few blocks and walk to the property. Please make sure to read all warning / parking signs carefully.
*We are working on other options, but with the city restrictions at this time, this is what is available. We do apologize for any inconvenience.

Temperature Control

There are separate mini-split units in the living room and bedroom. There is a remote control for each.
• The on/off, fan & temperature setting buttons are on the main part of the remote.
o Turn on (generally best to keep fan on auto) and adjust temp to your preference
*Note: to keep the unit in good working order, please do not set the temp above 75 for heat or below 65 for cool
o To access the “mode” to set either on cool (A/C) or heat, you’ll need to slide the bottom half of the cover down. Pressing the mode button will toggle through the different modes. For cool, you’ll need it set with the snowflake icon. For heat, you’ll need it set with the sun icon. They look very similar, so make sure to select the correct one – sorry for any confusion for these universal symbols. Hopefully the diagrams below will offer some guidance.
o Complete operations manual is stored on the shelf in the bedroom closet.

Notes and Reminders
• There are towels in the bathroom and blankets, extra sheets and extra pillows in the bedroom closet.
• We have pots &pans, utensils, dishes, flatware and a variety of mixing bowls & baking sheet, toaster, full coffee maker, Keurig, and French press. We also have basic spices & olive oil. Please feel free to look around in cabinets to find all of these. If you can’t find something, contact me through the booking app.
• There is a vacuum and a broom & dustpan in bedroom closet and some cleaning supplies under the kitchen and/or bathroom sink if you need them
• Excess Trash – There are trash cans just outside under the deck to dispose of your excess trash. We do have someone that will come to pull the bins out for pick up after 5pm on Thursdays and will return them to behind gate after 5pm on Fridays (holiday weeks will be delayed by 1 day & recycle bins are only emptied every other week). If you need to dispose of trash during this time, they will be just outside the gate on the curb. Please only use the blue can for recycled items and the dark green can for regular trash and food waste. The bright green can is for yard waste so you would not need to use that one.
• Be aware that there are tenants in the other side of the duplex and there are families in the neighboring houses. Please be mindful of these neighbors and respect our Quiet hours 10pm-7am
• Parties are not allowed!! A minimum fine of $500 will be charged if rule not observed
• Smoking is not allowed. A minimum $250 cleaning fee if rule not observed
• Pets are not allowed. A minimum $250 cleaning fee if rule is not observed

• When Leaving:
o Just a reminder that Check out time is 11am

o If not too difficult for you to complete, it would be very helpful if you will also do the following before you leave:
 Do not remove bed linens from the beds. Please leave the covers pulled back. And simply put the dirty towels on the bathroom floor. Please do not put them in the shower or they will potentially get too wet. Our cleaning team will take it from there.
 We prefer that you not move any furniture around, but if you did, please return it to its original location
 Empty interior trash cans (put in larger bins under the deck as described above)
 Put dirty dishes in the dish washer, put in dishwasher tab and turn the dishwasher on

o Please turn off all of the lights and set the thermostat on each mini-split to 68 heat degrees (during cold months) and 75 cool degrees in the warm months. Make sure the fan is in “auto” mode, not “on” mode.

Please feel free to contact us through the booking app if you have any questions.

We hope you have a great stay!

Charming Oakwood
The property was perfect for me and my husband. The location is great, close to downtown with many restaurants that are walkable. I love the historic Oakwood neighborhood. Gayla is so helpful and responsive. We’ll definitely stay here again!

This is a cute, one bedroom with a fold out couch that is tastefully decorated in a safe neighborhood. Very clean. Just the right size-my daughter and I had plenty of room. Kitchen was the size of a normal home kitchen- seemed recently remodeled. Krispy Kreme is basically across the street and there’s a restaurant/bar with good food and drinks a couple blocks down the street. Free parking that was easy.
