Another amazing Thanksgiving stay
We had another amazing Thanksgiving stay at this property. Great location, amazing outdoor spaces. We enjoyed the fire pit, took relaxing hikes, and watched the sunset off the back porch. We saw deer, drank wine at Chatteau Morisette and went zip lining just a mile away. You can’t beat the location and the abundant space in the house.

Weekend getaway
This is a beautiful location, right off the BlueRidge Parkway. Lots of land to roam on with the kids and grandkids, and just a short walk to a wonderful winery. We walked lots of the trails that are just out the front door, very nicely cleared and wide, wonderful with the kids. There is also a nice large firepit that we enjoyed each evening with firewood provided by the owner. We did collect small branches in the woods, which the kids loved! We brought all the food for our meals, there isn't anything nearby. This wasn't a problem, just be aware and pack what you will need. A nice kitchen with all the pot and pans you would need, also a nice grill on the deck. We had a wonderful long weekend and would go again.

About the host

My name is Laura, and I live in the Lake Norman area of North Carolina with my husband, Ryan, and our four young children! We have purchased rental properties that we love for our big family to enjoy, and that we know other families and friends will love as well. We own a rental in Floyd, Virginia on 166 acres of beautiful land, and a home one block from the beach in Isle of Palms, South Carolina. We look forward to hosting you, and helping you make memories that will last forever!

Why they chose this property

We are a family of six, and with four small children we decided to purchase rental properties in areas that we love to visit! Mother Nature never fails, so this beautiful piece of property always provides nonstop entertainment for all of our kids and their friends.
Why the mountains? In the summer, the weather is cooler than it is in Charlotte (where we call home). We can drive up to see the snow, and then go home to where it (rarely) snows :)
The pace if life is slow, and everyone in SWVA is super friendly and accommodating. It is refreshing and recharging to step away from the hustle and bustle of suburban life to enjoy fresh air and stunning sunsets. Downtown Floyd is charming, and offers a bunch of small town entertainment options. Check out the Jamboree every Friday during summer months!
Finally, staying next door to a winery is a pretty great way to vacation! The restaurant at the Winery is finally reopened, so enjoy a great meal!

What makes this property unique

We offer 168 secluded acres, just minutes off of the Blue Ridge Parkway! The acreage is groomed with multiple trails and has a small and shallow stream. The trails are suitable for ATVs, dirt bikes, and snow toys!
This is a hunter's haven during doe and buck season.
We are situated right next door to Chateau Morrisette Winery, making our home a GREAT location for a girls' weekend, bachelorette party, or family reunion!
Our outdoor area has a gas grill and firepit.
